I live in Gettysburg Pennsylvania. A tourist trap. Small town heavy traffic lots of congestion. And always go go go. I'm looking to move to Iowa within the next year I would like to do it sooner but finances and job relocation are things I have to get in line. Also I have a rather large family I currently live in a six bedroom four bathroom farmhouse. Looking to downsize would like a ranch style home with at least a little bit of yard for my lab. Anything you could say advice you could give me I'm serious about the move I'm tired of Pennsylvania and I'd like to be closer to my son

If it's the greater Iowa City area I'd be happy to set up a custom home search for you so you can begin to watch the market for your type of house/property over the course of next year as you prepare for a move. If it's a different community in Iowa I may be able to help you find a great Realtor in that area. Once you narrow down your preferred location, then you need to dial in on what your budget is--there's wide variation in housing prices depending upon location in the state. Did 4 years in Iowa City as an undergrad in the 1990's. It was still recovering from the 60's and 70's and that point. Still very hippy dippy though. Iowa City has been cleaned up and sterilized a lot since then and definitely lost a lot of character.
