I read an article a few years ago that said none of it was real. Like they did all these crazy things to the car, but after they were done filming, they took everything off because it wasn't street legal. It was all for show. And according to the kids who were on the show, they didn't know that was going to happen.

I used to love MTV's Making the Video. They did an episode for Britney Spears' Oops I Did it Again and the choreographer is not hearing her when she says she's tired and has too much choreography going in her head. I also loved MTV's MADE, especially the one where the girl wanted to be a wakeboarder and she made her new wakeboarding friends cookies. She was so sweet!

You should do "Parental Control" from MTV. The show had the parents choose a blind date for their teenager or have them continue dating their significant other that they don't like and at the end the teenagers have to choose who to date. It was great!

I don’t remember Becoming but I definitely remember “My Own” which was this show but mixed with dating. Like the person would audition people and pick who were the most like their celebrity crush. Mess and chaos.

I member one episode dude fell asleep on a hammock outside at night. When he woke up. There were a bunch of creepy lookin people surrounding him. I don't know why that one stuck out the most to me.

My husband was on an mtv dating show called moving in. It was 100% scripted. They promised to give him copies of the show but no one ever gave them copies and mtv has told us they don’t have rights to the show anymore. I’d love to one day find a copy of the show.
'Rich Girls', 2003, with Ally Hilfiger. It was the predecessor of KUWTK, Real Housewives, etc. Prime terrible early 00s fashion abounds. 'The Simple Life' would be great, too!

This reminds me so much of my childhood best friend. We used to rush home from school to watch MTV. She passed away last November, so this is really hitting me in the feels 😢
For spooky month, would you review this old show called, "The scariest places on Earth"? It's an old early 2000s (clearly faked) show, where they take these poor American families to these remote castles around the globe and record them inside of these castles for 24 or 48 hours. They always claimed the castle was kept in the same shape as medieval times and had no electricity, but like could somehow have cameras set up and running throughout the castle. I remember one episode this Elvira looking lady popped out and claimed the be the owner of the castle and claimed to live there with no electricity, or running waters and completely alone. Then they panned to this room with a "bath" with a clearly visible full-bodied "skeleton" that had supposedly been there since the 1400s or something. Clearly, that was a lie, because decomposition. But, it was so theatrically done it was hysterical.
Omg I remember always making a big deal when that show would come on. My parents would always get stuck watching it with me. 😂💙 I actually remember recording it on VHS..I really need to convert stuff onto UA-cam if I could actually find my old tapes.
omg I think I saw one episode where the location was in a secluded island which was used for Tuberculosis sanatorium. I was so captivated by it but then again I was maybe 10 or 11 years old back then lol

They really did some of those contestants dirty! One episode the second “animal/bug” fear part would be like “okay, you have to lay in a bathtub with these friendly snakes that won’t bite you” and the next episode would be like “alright, we’re going to blend up spiders, crickets, cow guts, and a mouse brain and you have to drink it!”

Honestly, I was a little confused because I really thought I was at MTV for a job interview. I think the show was waaay more fun than any internship - lol! Oh, yeah - Jon and I really got part time jobs working for Hef shortly thereafter… Halloween and mid-summer’s were the best!

I remember the one where this girl was on the soccer team but dreamed of being on the dance team. Well… she didn’t seem to actually like dancing. In so many of the episodes I was so impressed with how much the kid improved and really did get “made” into whatever they wanted to be. Not this episode. This girl was a terrible dancer. She didn’t make the team. Come to find out she cared more about being friends with the girls on the dance team than actually dancing and being on the dance team

I loved the MTV show "Fear". It was like a Pre-Ghost Hunters with young college kids being forced to do dangerous/scary challenges in haunted location in the middle of nowhere at like 3am for a few thousand dollars. It was also all shot through security cameras and hand held cameras. With no crew around to help them.

It had contestants basically stay at some place that was supposedly haunted and they had to complete “dares” outside of the designated safe zones. I swear i still think about this show almost daily. My fave one has to be the Ricky Martin and Xtina "Nobody Wants to be Lonely" video. The guy that plays Ricky was just too much and such an awful actor or whatever you wanna call it. It haunts me to this day.
