@10:30 what you get wrong Steven is that our products are already tariffed to high heaven overseas.......so Trumps argument is if our products are tariffed, we can match their tariffs.
Income tax didn’t exist until 1862 when Lincoln implemented a 3-5% tax based on income level to fund the civil war. Now income taxes vary between 10-37% and we are still in debt. The government doesn’t have an income problem, it has a spending problem.
We also didn't have the massive infrastructure we have today that supports our massive economy. Highly developed economies don't just spring up from nothing despite what some people would like to believe. You need education, regulation, healthcare, and infrastructure and it all needs to be aligned to be able to produce a thriving economy. Show me one modern country with a thriving economy that has a 3-5% tax rate and then maybe you could convince me but they don't exist and there is a reason for that.
Exactly and if I were to gain an additional 2-4K extra for goods due to tariffs but don’t have to pay income tax my net gain would be substantial…..so there’s that. I’m so tired of giving half my paycheck to the government
veteran here. We had a budget for our unit on base. if leadership didnt spend the full amount, they were fearful the budget would be less the next year. That drove them to be frivolous, and buy whatever they could, even if that didnt benefit us. Wasteful military spending is a huge issue that goes without notice.
Navy veteran here and I FULLY agree with every word. I was in for almost 10 years and even trying to be cost effective was frown upon, it’s really bad still.
Great. You are in a position that you benefit from that. If you're living paycheck to paycheck and didn't have an income tax, this makes your life far more expensive. I would benefit from this system personally as well, but I don't want the most vulnerable to be priced out of basic essentials because I want lower taxes.
Am 58 retiring next year but the thought of retirement gives me weakness. My apologies to everyone who have retired and filing social security during this time after putting in all those years of work just to lose everything to a problem you never imagined to happen. It’s so difficult for people who are retired and have no savings or loved ones to fall back on.
True, It has never been easier to understand how to build your money after retirement than it is right now with the inflation, when you may study and experience a completely variegated market passively by employing a successful portfolio-advisor. The impacts of the U.S. dollar's gain or fall on investments, in my opinion, are complex.
The truth is, the role of an investment advisor can often be overlooked but should never be underestimated. After facing a significant portfolio loss in 2020 during the COVID pandemic while trying to manage my investments on my own, I decided to reach out to an investment advisor. At that time, I had about $126K left in my portfolio. Now, without having to lift a finger, I'm semi-retired, working only 7.5 hours a week, and I'm just 15% short of my $1 million retirement goal thanks to my subsequent investments.
Thanks for sharing your experience! I’ve been managing my portfolio myself, but it’s not working out. Do you have any recommendations for a good investment advisor? I could really use some help.
I'm cautious about giving specific recommendations since this is an online forum and everyone situation is unique, but I've worked with "Laurel Ann Watkins" for years and highly recommend her. Look her up to see if she meets your criteria.
She appears to be a true authority in her profession with over two decades of experience. I looked her up on the internet and skimmed through her site, very professional. already sent her an inquiry hoping for a response soon.
If it removes income tax, I’ll take it. Losing about $18k to income tax this year. If tariffs would increase my cost of living by $4k but remove income tax, I’m still coming out ahead by $14k.
Yeah now there's no government and the debt is gonna quadruple but at least people that are making like 100k + a year are able to keep their money...... I'm starting to think this may be a bad idea for most people.
yes but we do not all agree on HOW and WHO should do that. So far it looks like the VA could be a target of DOGE and if any more social programs get targeted it could be bad. If they make defense contractors stop charging the government $299 for a screw, yay doge.
This feels like an impossible task. You can't eliminate greed, so the only thing to take money from (if not politicians/lobbiest pockets) are generally useful programs and services. Plus constantly yelling "less government spending!" Only drives us further away from a half decent universal healthcare system, which EVERYONE seems to want granted to response to the UHC CEO incident
I'm all for getting rid of income taxes. Here's why: we pay taxes on our income, then taxes on goods we buy. We are taxed twice right out of the gate. Then we are taxed on things we sell. We are taxed if we buy stock and sell it at a higher price. We are taxed to live in a house we already bought. We are taxed to drive on certain roads. Every single little thing we do with our money is taxed. And where does it go? Overseas. Politicians pockets. Rarely do we ever see it help us, the common citizen. I will gladly accept my FULL PAYCHECK that I earned, and buy American made products, or choose what foreign products I'll buy and pay taxes on. Edit: forgot to mention the company paying us also pays "payroll" tax just to pay us.
@@Not_Sure_2505 Except that's not the plan. The plan is to replace income tax with a flat consumption tax. This eliminates the exemptions and deductions you can get with income tax, so you'll end up paying more in the end when the feds apply a 20% national tax on everything you buy, regardless of where it's made. And that will be in addition to price hikes to make up for the tariffs and state sales tax. If you're middle class, expect your effective tax rate to go up by about 10%, assuming you take no deductions.
@@adseigo hmm, I may need to read more into it. For what it's worth I still feel we are taxed too much for what we get in return. The real problem is that American consummers will be paying more in anything they buy. The American people already complaining and blamming Biden for high inflation that's why Trump was elected. So putting high tariffs on imports will definitely increase inflation and doom any Republican election in the 2028 elections.
Tariffs will increase costs of finished goods and components used throughout US manufacturing. This will be an immediate and huge hike in inflation. To fight inflation the Fed will have to hike interest rates which will be wonderful for the billionaires but possibly take away the middle class. In the private sector, you're rewarded if you go under budget. In the government, agencies are rewarded with a bigger budget for the next year if they spend all of their money in the current year. This leads to unnecessary waste and needs to be changed.
Problem in the private sector corporations is doing the same. They have consistently justified bigger and bigger budgets so they come below their estimated budgets. It’s been going on since the 1980s at least. This is what was going on at Enron and more and more companies since then have been doing this ever since.

These frequent tax code changes are disrupting my long-term investment strategies. Are there ways to structure my investments to be more resilient to potential tax code modifications?
I honestly think America needs a completely restructure of their political system. It is just not working. Trump and Biden being elected out of 300 million people to run the country is evidence for that too.
This is why the US should elect more progressive politicians, who know how to manage budgets and give us (yes, per country's initials literally spell out that pronoun) much better tax credits in return for better public education and better public healthcare. but since these are nonexistent, my husband and I are being guided to finance our retirement and healthcare through a diversified investment portfolio

The tarriff plan will evidently lead to high inflation, the high inflation is a significant reason why most retirees have sleepless nights. The increase in prices of everyday items puts them at risk of running out of money. As prices rise, the amount of money retirees can withdraw from their retirement savings also increases.
The increasing prices have impacted my plan to retire at 62, work part-time, and save for the future. I'm concerned about whether those who navigated the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time than I am currently experiencing. The combination of stock market volatility and a decrease in income is causing anxiety about whether I'll have sufficient funds for retirement.

As a contractor I worked for the USAF. The job we did required 92 items for replacement to give our project a guaranteed 50 year life span. The AF "budget" was so robust that after buying all the spare prices and parts and paying the contractors for the 50 year lifespan project. There was "slush" rather then return or repurpose the robust leftover $ they purchased 9200 "parts" and built a larger warehouse to keep them in. That's 5000 year lifespan. That is the meaning of government overspending.
Somehow American Greed would ruin this. The primary reason people purchase good from other countries is because “American Made” products are way overpriced
Wasteful spending happens because it's incentivized. A government unit that actually cuts costs and comes in under budget is punished by having a smaller budget for the next year. To have any hope of maintaining their budget or possibly seeing an increase they need to spend their entire budget or maybe overspend a bit.

The American people are being duped, and it's very sad. We are stronger when we have the ability, knowledge, and strength to produce things ourselves. The federal income tax is the big one you need to watch out for. Bernie’s absolutely right on this-it would be the biggest wealth transfer in history if Trump got rid of it. It's mind boggling to me that there are millions of Americans who think that "tariff on China/Canada/Mexico = China/Canada/Mexico pays the cost 😀" America is about to enter the Find Out era lmaoo
You do understand that if these companies are paying the tariffs, they will have no choice but to move to US and manufacture. That means China, Canada, Mexico will lose those businesses. What do you think will happen to their economy? An example is, Toyota started manufacturing their cars in the US to avoid the tariffs. Initially, it will raise the prices of the goods but overall, when these products are manufactured here in the US, it'll become cheaper and the most important is it'll create jobs and boost our economy. Y'all act like tariffs is magic and everything will be better instantaneously. It'll take years to see the changes but the seed will be planted. Cut government spending, build new infrastructure, avoid wars, and put Americans first.
@@xXZero_MindXx Yeah, except prices will not become cheaper over time because it costs waaaay more to pay someone in the US to do the same jobs people are doing for cheap in other countries. It makes zero sense that the same side crying about inflation supports something that is going to raise prices higher than we've ever seen ... There's no logic in that, if you don't want prices to shoot up even more then you wouldn't be on board with tariffs
The idea behind tariffs are that consumers will be less incentivized to buy foreign goods and thus they’ll buy domestic products. In theory this makes sense but in reality tariffs are either paid by American companies that import the same foreign goods or materials that they were importing before the tariffs and so they’re then required to pass that additional expense onto the consumer or the consumer ends up being forced to pay for the more expensive domestically produced good rather than the cheaper foreign made ones. It also creates barriers to trade with our allies and hurts relationships with other countries. It often time causes other countries to retaliate and put tariffs on our exports. If another country makes something more efficiently than us and we make something more efficiently than them, that’s good trade that benefits everybody and should be encouraged. They are a tax increase that benefits nobody except very highly targeted industries of US producers and politicians trying to appeal to American voters that don’t know basic economics
For industries where there are already US based manufacturers though, it suddenly makes the American ones a lot more competitive. And tariffs are nothing new. Not sure why Americans are so adverse to the idea. Pretty much every other developed country in the world uses them.
@joshuadelaughter A lot of it has to do with people like their cheap items after the last couple years of inflation, I don't want prices to go up even more
So paying $4,000 to get things in my life vs paying a government that takes 20% of my income to just give me back $1500 for tax return seems good because the government has not help me since i graduated highschool.
A major problem with tariffs are once they are implemented, they are hard to get rid of. We still have tariffs from many decades ago placed on items that are no threat to domestic production. In today's global society, so many items are produced using parts from multiple countries that if these sweeping tariffs are implemented, pretty much the cost of everything will go up.
You as a consumer can decide where to spend your money at/on. We are taxed to death here and you clowns want more taxes. Income, sales, luxury, gas, property. How many times does a car have to be taxed once the original tax has been paid? Government says every time you sell one it has to be taxed again. Homes too. The government is out of control.
I agree with buying American first but here's something that happened to a company I owed for over 34 years. When Trump put the tariff's on Chinese newsprint paper my prices doubled. The American producers didn't lower or keep the prices the same. They choose to increase it to what the new tariff price would be. I went from paying $2,500 to $3,500 per week for printing to over $4,500 to $5,500. December of 2023 we decided to shutdown that division of my company.
This is the comment we needed. Covid greedflation showed EXACTLY what "Americans" do when they can slime more money off you. What a mess our global economy has become for average people who do want to re-balance things.
@@mrgus1 Not very business wise I see. if his company went out of business, it means others either went out of business or figured out how to continue without printing. @@GrahamStephan yea i appreciate that you dont sugar coat it and outright say where the costs will be passed on, but it is a little worse than the toilet paper explanation you gave. For one, alot of times the U.S doesnt have its own toilet paper manufacturing (we shipped most of it overseas because cheaper labor out there) making the competitive argument pointless, and for two alot of products dont just cross the border once, they cross back and fourth multiple times as it gets assembled in many places causing prices to not to simply increase but to multiply the costs by many folds. Tariffs are a negotiation tool. Imagine if we’re currently paying 30% tariffs (tax we pay) to a country that we only receive 10% tariffs for our goods. Cost of goods is 20% higher. Now imagine someone evened out those tariffs. 10% in and out. The other countries cost won’t change & our tax income won’t change, but we’d now pay 20% less for anything from that country.
This doesn't add up. We have a trade deficit so that won't even out. The idea that tariffs are just a "negotiation tool" is a fiction created by the media to cover for Trump or so it seems. He never references them in this way. He talks about using tariffs as a way to fund the government. It's also not true that we are getting tarriffed by other countries across the board and we are just responding to that. That doesn't make sense considering Trump is tariffing Canada and Mexico when Trump is the one is renegotiated the trade deal with them his last term. Did he negotiate a bad deal? I don't get it.
The first thing that he says in this video is that countries dont pay taxes!!!! Tarrif is called import tax everywhere else. You buy something you pay the tax to your own governemnt, its sales tax on goods coming from different countires. Not to mention that tariffs are net negative for everyone, literally no positives. This was established decades ago and proven over and over and over and over but there is always somebody trying to invent a wheel.
What if the other country doesn’t take the bait and raised the tariff? And it’s not that simple. American cars and Japanese cars that are assembled in the US import most of the parts from different countries.
Is anyone actually watching the vid before commenting? All I am seeing is blind acceptance of the policy without actually refuting any of the points Graham made.

I am a big fan of tariffs, regardless of who actually pays them. It makes a consumption based tax system rather than an income based tax system.. We all know who pays ALL of the income tax in the USA, the middle class. Tariffs will spread this consumption tax to the rich. And middle class can choose what they want to buy thus if they are paying tax. Get rid of income tax, use tariffs.
The prices of related but untarriffed products will go up also……look at what happened when they tariffed washing machines…not only did the price of washing machines go up..but also the prices of dryers, an untarriffed product, also went up!
They tariffed washing machines because China was selling cheaper machines. And putting American companies out of business they tariffed China and saved American businesses and jobs and made the market competitive again
Correct. Then a NEW company will come in, an American company, and make it for cheaper, forcing the other company to either make a better product at the same price they had before, lower their prices, or a comb of both.
Except they won't make it cheaper because they'll just use it as a reason to price gouge. Tariffs are nothing but an unmitigated disaster that only an idiot would advocate for.
The argument nobody's getting to hear is that tariffs will encourage domestic manufacturing and investment in domestic production, which has been on the decline for about 50 years (or more) as everything has slowly been offshored and sold off to foreign countries. We have been weakened as a country, and if WW3 began tomorrow, we wouldn't have the capacity we had in WW2, with Roosevelt's "arsenal of democracy." So, maybe prices go up in the short term, but in the long term they could save the USA from going the way of the Roman Empire. I think that's pretty important.
@tylerguitar75 Except that's just not true. Those jobs are never coming back. Do you realize how expensive it would be to create everything in the US? Companies are NOT incentivized to move production here in the slightest and no tariff is going to fix that because it will STILL be cheaper to produce abroad. They will just keep playing musical chairs internationally to find the lowest production cost possible. What you've said is a false narrative, and choosing to repeat it is either ignorance, or intellectual dishonesty.

@@strategygalactic some businesses can't just be built in the US. coffee is an obvious one, since it pretty much can't grow anywhere in the US except for hawaii and southern florida, but this also extends to other things, like salt and pepper, televisions [NO televisions are manufactured there], cheap consumer electronics in general, most gas sold in the US is also imported, most tropical fruits are imported, and plenty of industries are prohibitively expensive to put in the US due to higher labor costs and environmental protections [both of which nonetheless serve an important purpose]. most things manufactured in the US skew towards high-end and heavy industry, which is not surprising since those require higher levels of education and better infrastructure, both things the US has. but lots of things would be insanely hard or straight up impossible to make in the US.

Then I got a $200 refund from my state last year…:and then my accountant said you will be getting a form for that. It gets taxed. Wait my refund for taxes, gets taxed?
Taxes on consumer goods is a terrible deal for poor and middle class. These groups spend more of their money on consumption (in proportion to their income) then higher income households. This is why for instance VAT or consumption taxes on like food stuffs shouldnt be a thing. Say goodbye to cheap shopping at Walmart or DollarStore. Countries with progressive income taxes generally have better government services (healthcare, schools, public transport etc) with better and cheaper outcomes. That being said. Audits and follow up on how government spending is handled should be a no brainer. What is it now? The 7th or 8th time the Pentagon has failed to do a yearly audit?

Companies forced to pay the tariffs should be forced to pay them and not pass the charge to the Consumer or force the worker to accept lower wages. It's the companies not the consumer to pay these tariffs.
Companies can charge what they want and pay as little as is they are able to their employees. If the companies eat the tariff, then it will be the shareholders who foot the bill. Unless you are thinking that it should be illegal for companies to raise their prices, but that is a slippery slope.
That won't be allowed in America. You've forgone government intervention and regulation for the sake of "free market". Decades old propaganda has deemed that stuff to be communist and authoritarian. Good luck trying to get that past anyone.
@@Rehzix Not a slipperly slope for many other countries. The way the people view government in the US vs abroad is wildly different. You simply cannot get away with that in America anymore. Not since Reagan at least.

The problem is that no amount of tariffs will ever match income tax. There isn't a tariff amount that will match the amount of revenue earned from income tax
@sirbuddysworth you can just google the amount of imports america comes in and do the math, also any of these studies on the potential impact of the tariffs would answer this for you as well.
@@sirbuddysworth In this video he said 1.25 trillion of imported goods, that's 20% of our budget. Unless we make 300% tarrifs which would be horrible it wont work
4:16 would make sense if we could actually manufacture things at a competitive price. There are certain things we just can't create cheaper here. And if we not competing globally then we are limiting our society to only American quality while everywhere else will get better options. We see this going on currently with our food supply being almost completely controlled by Monsanto while the rest of the world has MUCH better food quality.
You left out the part of the story that when Trump created tarrifs on Chinese steel and aluminum, the US companies who make those materials raised the price of theirs to match the cost of importing from China.
This is the most sensible discussion about tariffs that I've seen since Trump first raised the issue. No pie in the sky, no the sky is falling. Thanks for this.
it wouldn't be just tariffs that will fund the country. He stated that the Federal Income Taxes should be cut.. But there will still be Taxes on everything you buy, Much like now. There is no need to be Taxed twice as we are now... Slightly higher sales tax would be a lot better than being taxed for working, then taxed again for using tat money to buy something..
Sales tax is worse than income tax. It only punishes the poor for having less disposable income. Especially since most of us regardless of class spend a "pretty similar" amount on essential goods regardless of income. A property tax based only on the size of land should the main thing funding the government. Those that own more land will pay more taxes. Those that own more land will also be forced to make use of/improve that land(through business or simply living on it) or simply sell it if that land/property is unused as it will be a waste of their money. This prevents the ultra rich from sitting on many acres of land/homes in order to benefit off the rising value of such land.
Govt just needs more money to waste, corrupt, mispend .....we would actually be fine if these m0rons could actually run the govt properly but alas....anyway I give america max 20 years as a country.....
These tariffs will probably be the final nail in the coffin for family farms in America. Mexico is the largest consumer of American corn and China is the biggest consumer of American soy. Mexico already put restrictions on corn imports last year with plans to expand those restrictions and it wouldn't be a surprise if China does the same with soy. Corporate agriculture will likely be the only ones able to withstand the hit to the grain markets.
It would be wise for American farms to become much more diverse then just serving global commodities markets... Diversity for economic and ecological stability.
Its even worse than that, who works in corporate agriculture? immigrants... especially all the meat industry. I get it, Americans dont want outside competition in the workforce, but do Americans really want to work these low paying grueling jobs in slaughter factories and meat packing plants? in the fields picking produce for 40+ hours for bellow low wage pay? And this is not even including the construction industry. This will compound with the tariffs, the perfect storm for an economic rescission maybe even depression!
Significant tariffs don’t work in a global economy. It takes centuries to become a self reliant country. Smaller 10% tariffs can slightly increase competitive markets without screwing over the people buying the products.
Yep Trump imposed teriffs in 2018 and it cost us. We import more than China exports when they match our tariffs we lose more than they do. I’m proud of you for not being afraid of backlash for being honest about that.
All of this countries already have tariffs on us.. We just don't tariff them... They can't fully retaliate and again I think anything's worth getting more jobs here because if there's a people shortage then people are worth more just like one there's any kind of shortage.. Right now they know they can replace you easily and that's the way they want it
The fact that people still can’t understand the dynamics of blanket tariffs is sad. There are so many ways where this just ends up in raising costs for consumers.
I have a better idea: no income tax, no vat, sale tax, tarrifs. Only property taxes depended on size and use. No tax for a small house with a small garden if owner lives in there. Huge taxes for investment properties.
@martinsulak6366 how about we only have sales tax on things consumers Buy and we leave investors who are the backbone of our economy alone. Maybe stop listening to the left?

I just want my income tax to go away and allow me to have that money per paycheck. I’m hurting paycheck to paycheck and I make $50,000+ a year. Our taxes make up less than 10% of the US’s income. We can make that up elsewhere and eliminate hurting the avg American. More money in our pockets is more money that goes back into local businesses and by proxy back to the government in some way. It’s the avg American that’s hurting the most and they make up the core of this country. Everything else will fall into place once there’s more money in our pockets.
13:00 estimates say tariffs will increase average US expenses by $2-4k annually. DEAL!!! I pay way more than that in income tax. What exactly is there to discuss?
That’s exactly my thought. Come tax on average is roughly 20% min of your paycheck. Not sure how that translates to those with above average incomes. I imagine it’s worse. I can’t wait for Elon to put the efficiency hammer down on the Government like he did Twitter.😂😂😂
This isn’t the amount to completely replace income tax… just what is currently proposed. It would take a lot more money from tariffs to replace income tax.
I don’t mind eliminating the federal income tax. My state pays over 300 billion to the Federal government and doesn’t get that much back from them. Instead it goes to other states so that can’t fund their state programs and balance their budgets because they have no state income tax.
You sound lost. States with less income tax often cost more to live it as theh just extract it different way. Just because you don't call it income tax does not mean it is not affecting your wallet.

@aphotosyntheticworld we had raods and schools long before taxes. We don't have safe food now or water. Public parks, safe flights, affordable gas, etc. Can all be paid for by other means like tariffs, selling oil to other countries, making more american made items to sell to other countries and our selves. The government is not something we should want to provide all these things. If we make it a free and open market we can decide who builds/does what with our own money. If I were a manufacturer business owner I probably still wouldn’t place factories in America even with imported tax. Cost of labor is higher than the tariffs and even if it I did place factories in America I’m still jacking the price up to naturally meet the tariffs and to make up for the cost of American labor plus the cost of resources America doesn’t have which are also probably going to be tariffed because it’s blanket tariff on all goods, not just targeted goods which are objectively better than slapping 25% across the board. Income tax didn’t exist until 1862 when Lincoln implemented a 3-5% tax based on income level to fund the civil war. Now income taxes vary between 10-37% and we are still in debt. The government doesn’t have an income problem, it has a spending problem.
Not to mention all the taxes we have now. Capital gains, tax on interest earned, real estate tax, ect

This is precisely why I like having a portfolio coach guide my day-to-day market decisions: with their extensive knowledge of going long and short at the same time, using risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying it off as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, their skillset makes it nearly impossible for them to underperform.

It's mind boggling to me that there are millions of Americans who think that "tariff on China/Canada/Mexico = China/Canada/Mexico pays the cost 😀"
America is about to enter the Find Out era lmaoo

I tried to get a paper based product made in America and the cost per unit was higher than the retail of the product. What a mess our global economy has become for average people who do want to re-balance things.
THIS, thank you for this. It's a perfect example of the reality of our economy.

And middle class can choose what they want to buy thus if they are paying tax. Get rid of income tax, use tariffs.

At 13:00 the reality comes out. Average family will pay 2000-4000 more after saving 15,000 from no taxes… sounds like a win all the way around.
Tariffs don't do a whole lot of good if there's not sufficient domestically- manufactured alternatives to choose from.

The Pentagon has never completed even a single audit.
@@DarthObscurity yep, but for some reason, OP wants income taxes and bigger government

The Tarrifs plan is supposed to cover no taxes on overtime and tips. Not the whole Income tax
@@NoCluYT Well companies in the US have a legal obligation to the shareholder to maximize profits and the government cant dictate what companies can charge. So it's not really realistic in our current form of government.
The problem is that no amount of tariffs will ever match income tax. There isn't a tariff amount that will match the amount of revenue earned from income tax
Yep not even close. MAGAs failed 9th grade math.
Do you have any data or a source to back up your claim? Not picking sides here just curious I want to understand why it wouldn’t work.
Cutting insanely excessive government spending and tarrifs introduced will get us really close.

This little guy makes one hell of a video. So much info and you kept it entertaining. Keep it up, you're my financial news from now on.
Just joined the Alemio community, and I’m already impressed by how active and supportive everyone is. This project feels special.
You left out the part of the story that when Trump created tarrifs on Chinese steel and aluminum, the US companies who make those materials raised the price of theirs to match the cost of importing from China.
SMH just greedy man
This is the most sensible discussion about tariffs that I've seen since Trump first raised the issue.
I thought…..and correct me if I’m wrong……taxes on goods are states sales tax.
@dsc1906 I don't know. Probably right.
😂😂😂😂 goodluck with this pipe dream.
People who don't learn from history, are doomed to have history to repeat it's self. Find out what happened before income tax.

Corporate agriculture will likely be the only ones able to withstand the hit to the grain markets.
unintelligent fear mongering.
It would be wise for American farms to become much more diverse then just serving global commodities markets... Diversity for economic and ecological stability.
Produce non GMO corn
Its even worse than that, who works in corporate agriculture? immigrants... especially all the meat industry. I get it, Americans dont want outside competition in the workforce, but do Americans really want to work these low paying grueling jobs in slaughter factories and meat packing plants? in the fields picking produce for 40+ hours for bellow low wage pay? And this is not even including the construction industry. This will compound with the tariffs, the perfect storm for an economic rescission maybe even depression!
If you're a corn farmer you should go out of business
Significant tariffs don’t work in a global economy. It takes centuries to become a self reliant country. Smaller 10% tariffs can slightly increase competitive markets without screwing over the people buying the products.
Centuries? America did it in like 50. Also we are the "global economy" , the US sets the bar.
@@gusto8069agreed
Yep Trump imposed teriffs in 2018 and it cost us. We import more than China exports when they match our tariffs we lose more than they do. I’m proud of you for not being afraid of backlash for being honest about that.
No they didn't.

I rarely feel this confident about a presale. Alemio has a roadmap that actually makes sense and tech that feels innovative.
I have a better idea: no income tax, no vat, sale tax, tarrifs. Only property taxes depended on size and use. No tax for a small house with a small garden if owner lives in there. Huge taxes for investment properties.
So the people who own investment properties and are barely getting by should get screwed?
No. That's the worst idea I've ever read. Property tax just means you can never own property. It's as anti American as communism.

States with no income tax often have higher sales and property taxes.
I guarantee you have no clue on what you're talking about 😂
Your "state" doesn't pay anything. The wealthier tax payers do. They are free to leave your state.
@@theo-avl Yup they all get it one way or another
You sound lost. States with less income tax often cost more to live it as theh just extract it different way. Just because you don't call it income tax does not mean it is not affecting your wallet.

I like how you forgot the great economy we had with Trump in charge even with the old guard trying to impede his efforts. How much more is trump gonna do with the support he has now?
Taking waste out of government spending is the biggest factor. That needs to be done first to see how much in taxes we would actually even need.
I feel getting rid of income taxes is totally doable if the government learned how to not waste our money. How is it the rich can pay financial advisors but our government cant? You literally outlined a few issues that seem pretty easy for the government to handle to stop wasting TRILLIONS WITH A FUCKING T! and if places like texas and Nevada can get along without having income taxes why not all states?
Why not all three, end the fed/taxes, tariffs, and get rid of government wasteful spending?
Do you like roads and schools and police and firefighters and safe to eat food and safe to drink water and well maintained public parks and safe flights and affordable gas and corn products and the myriad of other things you can thank the government and your tax dollars for?
@aphotosyntheticworld we had raods and schools long before taxes. We don't have safe food now or water. Public parks, safe flights, affordable gas, etc. Can all be paid for by other means like tariffs, selling oil to other countries, making more american made items to sell to other countries and our selves. The government is not something we should want to provide all these things. If we make it a free and open market we can decide who builds/does what with our own money. I don't think it would be easy but I think it would be the right thing to do.
You clearly have never been anywhere outside the US, to see what roads actually look like when the government does not pay/subsidize their construction. For example, look at rural African countries. @@manieartis2687
@Grahamstephan the Smott/Holly situation was under completely different circumstances, the comparison is almost apples to oranges in modern times.
Honestly I like the idea that people think they’re going to be getting cheaper items and or the us will become completely self sufficient via the tariffs.
Tariffs are just a government imposed tax and the corporations that produce overseas won’t feel a pinch unless china or X country decides to stop buying American or reduces American imports..
Nobody thinks that. Everywhere you read it's "tariffs will make things cost more." The argument nobody's getting to hear is that tariffs will encourage domestic manufacturing and investment in domestic production, which has been on the decline for about 50 years (or more) as everything has slowly been offshored and sold off to foreign countries. @@tylerguitar75remember when Trump did this with China his first term and bankrupt the agriculture industry and had to bail them out? What will change this time? Because he wants to make them higher than he did the first time.
Even if you took away the minimum wage, markets will still dictate what workers want in wage. People are expected to be paid a certain amount and it’s often more than Chinese or Bangladeshi workers and laborers.
@@tylerguitar75 If the US had a production based economy, you would be correct. However, we have a service based economy, so you are incorrect and tariffs only work to increase inflation.
