My ex’s daughter, his dad, and I are the only ones who see behind his mask. He discarded me. He gaslights himself by telling others that I abandoned him. The truth is that I caught him cheating and he lied about it even though I had proof. He’s still with her today. He has started to devalue them as they confront him about his lies.

@@RawMotivations Oh I have. I’ve been on my healing journey for over a year and no contact except when he showed up unexpectedly 6 months ago. I want nothing to do with him. I’ve had to go no contact after the holidays with all his family members as most of them are toxic enablers.
When you put evidence in front of them Do they actually still believe their lies? How is that possible? It is terrifying

My ex physically attacked me, grabbed me and threw me around the room, shoved me on the couch then got on top of me screaming at me. I left and the next morning he came to my house banging on my door and my bedroom door now frantically trying to talk to me, I was afraid to open the door and let him in so I opened it a crack and told him I was afraid to let him in because he physically attacked me, anyways, He had the nerve to say to me “I was just giving you a bear hug” I couldn’t believe he said that! Totally diminishing his behavior. He regularly diminished his behavior and always blame shifted onto me.

2022 ~ Q#1: "Is that drink in the picture yours? What happened to our 19 years of sobriety?" A#1: "Well since I take Nyquil & Kava sobriety isn't really applicable to me anymore." A#2: "Before this I had one glass of wine in 2020 with my family when we were all nervous about Covid." Q#2: "Are you drinking & driving? Your gym bag was full of empty beer cans." A#3: "No of course not." A#4: If I'm not drunk I can drive just fine.." Q#3: "Why are you hiding it and lying to me about it?" A#5: "It doesn't matter. You made me start drinking again." FR. You can't make this stuff up!🤣🤣🤣
The possible narcissist i was seeing had said ' the truth hurts " when i asked him for it in one particular instance. i responded..... " yes , it does but it sets you free " he agreed... it is all just so painful
It's not okay for anyone to treat you disrespectfully or try to harm you. Don't let their actions or words define you or impact your well-being.

They try make you prove things theyve heard and , not heard from you and 💯 fling thoughts on to others , even the fact nobody cares , so why they persist is beyond me

This sounds like someone I know 😂😂
They don't always believe their own lies, and I think deep down they don't believe ANY of them. That's why they take care to make sure their abuse stays private. Lies have to be carefully kept away from public scrutiny.
Once, when I was working with a toxic coworker, she made a disparaging remark about me, which I very clearly heard. I asked her about the remark two minutes after she made it, and of course she said "What? I didn't say anything.". I refuse to believe that she forgot the remark she had made just two minutes earlier. She was just playing dumb and being manipulative. I'm sure she ran to the manager to lodge some cockamamie complaint about me. Anyhow, a lot of lying is conscious.
