MY GOD! LOOK! it's “BORDERLINE BILL'S MERCHANDISE” SHOP! Much WOW. AT: society6.com/ofirzsasson Created By: Ofir Sasson Official music video for "Hotblack" by Oceanship / oceanship
i loved this, he hid behind a curtain of false love towards her just so he could eat her and their children; but after he found out she cheated on him his image of being a ruthless wolf is ruined and he's thinking that he should be hurting her, not the other way around. he tries to hurt her once again but finds out he really does love her, and wants her happy. he's speechless in the end because he never thought he would get so wrapped up in his own feelings and is lost trying to figure out what his life has come to
I always LOVED this video. It was so haunting and tragic and figuratively brilliant. My opinion contrasts to the majourity. I actually don't believe the wolf possessed wicked intentions at any point. This ENTIRE video was a red herring and a play on irony. The wolf in sheep's clothing became literal in the sense that both the wolf and sheep are present. However, the deceitful one was in fact the sheep. She was portrayed and stylized in a way that read "innocent". If the wolf was planning to eat her, why wait? Why build a life and home with her? 9 months later? Was he truly that desperate to have a child only to eat it? If so, why would it upset him that one of the children was a donkey? In theory, that'd be TOTALLY irrelevant because he is a predator, so it wouldn't matter to him what the child was 🤷♂️ Sharpening his teeth is another red herring. The deliberate display of the toothbrush was a red herring. The lyrics of the song were a red herring, namely "making big plans for your own sake". His seemingly sinister smile was a red herring, meant to play on our natural humane perception of good and evil, and how assumptions make an ass out of you. This entire concept was manifested in the introduction of the Donkey. It was symbolism and foreshadowing. That literary device was an interactive link between us and the story. It ALSO made our experience parallel to the wolf's. This was artistic GENIUS. What sufficiently convinced me of his 'innocence' and sincerity, other than the overwhelming proof of his innocence ironically being manifested in the shotgun (as opposed to his teeth), was his anger. The fury he felt was derivative of genuine LOVE. And in the end, he succumbed to it, albeit tragically. Once, unknowingly. The second time, he consciously succumbed to tragedy because the basis of his love was still very much true. Such a complicated mix and application of emotions. I get chills. So essentially, I came here to exonerate him. HE WAS NOT EVIL.
Wolf is not fully innocent though, there's at least one frame that he does something completely dubious that is looking at other females in a picture which I can presume that he was cheating on Sheep just like she cheat on him with the Donkey as payback. We never see if he cheated or not, only Ofir knows.
Every time i watch it i cry. My guy isn't evil. Messed up, sure, emotional, okay, but never evil, even if he tries to live up to an image. I had a very dear person with BPD and it so much reminds me of them.
There is something so strongly emotional about this. Perhaps it is your strong use of color, shape and expression to convey how the characters feel. But I found myself glued to the screen with that strange ''knot in your stomach'' feeling. I will never forget this gem. Absolutely magnificent work, Ofir!
I’d like to think that the wolf’s intentions were never evil to begin with. They just looked that way because well, symbolistically in everyone’s eyes the wolf is the evil one. it was actually warning us about the sheep through a majority of the video. In a way I think that it’s saying looks don’t discern a person’s intentions, or how they’re going to act. Evilness can come from even the most innocent seeming people.
This is such an amazing work of art. Even ten years later stumbling across your BPD video randomly I was able to immediately recognize the wolf and remember this absolute gem of a video. I remember being in 5th grade and showing everyone I knew this video because I couldn’t believe it no one had seen such a masterpiece. Amazing work!
@@ofirzsasson I loved this in high school as a love sick teen. I love this now as a pregnant married mother of soon to be 2 baby girls in June. Thanks for the last 12 years ❤
I just found out about this today and I absolutely fell in love with your animation and Bill's character. Thank you for making my night a little brighter.
The person who you'd expect to be rather evil turns out to be someone totally different. The sheep, who seems harmless betrayed him. You can even see a picture of the wolf looking at other girls as he enters the house, yet he stayed loyal. When he chases the sheep he feels so much anger. Yet he doesn't act, and he dies for it.
I really love the contrast between the two characters and how their designs reflect their personalities, like how the Wolf is sharp, pointy and mean and how the Sheep is soft, round and nice, you did a fantastic job! Look forward to seeing more!
I saw this years ago in a unfinished state as an entry in a Radiohead video contest, I think. I've searched for it now and then (without success--thanks Beggars Group jerks), as it's my favorite Radiohead video. I picture this every time I listen to A Wolf at the Door. Awesome work, brilliant on every level!
@@FantasticmrKabZ Really? I haven't seen it there, I only saw the finalists. But just by watching this I'm surprised it was used for JFIP instead of Reckoner.
I really like how you use strong, rigid shapes and intense colors to signify certain emotions, such as anger, as demonstrated at 2:35. I really dig your art style, especially the simple design of your "wolf" character. Great story as well, and the song flows with everything perfectly. Very nice job, my friend.. Thank you for sharing and good luck to you!
There are a lot of animations on TV that are beyond crappy and I so wish I could see ones this good on TV. Ofir, I really wish you could make more of this theme and air it on TV, you should make a show or something, this is absolutely amazing and very unique. I've watched this video seven times and it's always very interesting and touching.
Personally, I think the Wolf always had dark intentions, and he was truly never devoted to her as he should have been. But upon learning the sheep cheated on him, he got pissed because how dare *she* cheat on *him?* She was supposed to be the sweet, loyal sheep to him! But when he saw her in the car with no remorse he realized he was being a hypocrite. He had been terrible to her and she had been terrible to him. He had no right to be this angry when, in truth, he was near doing the same thing himself.
I also love the subliminal humour. For example, her car. "Room For Up To 10" haha. A subtle allusion to her promiscuity. The wolf was intentionally made the focal point of our attention so that the evident signs of the sheep's motives, while at surface level, would go unnoticed. He's black and she's white. Dark and Light. Another figurative application outside of the obvious good and evil. He was the shadow that concealed her treachery. Again, just brilliant
This video shows how wrong our judgements really are. Most of us see the wolf as the evil one and the sheep as the pure an innocent one. But then the truth is shown when the wolf sees that his supposed kids aren't his. They're the donkey's. The sheep cheated on him and in turn tore his heart out. In a rage he was going to kill her, but in the end he had fallen too in love to hurt her.
Is the little poof over the Sheep's head supposed to be a halo? And the "Weevil" sign. I get the obvious "evil" part. But is it foreshadowing that BOTH the Sheep & Wolf are evil, not just the Wolf? "WE evil?" "Red Room" sign at hotel reminds me of "red rum" in "The Shining" (murder backwards). Only this would be "moorder" --- but the death came with a donkey, not a bull (moo - rder, get it?). Oh, wait. It's "Red Rooms." Guess that doesn't work. Then it must mean snuff film red rooms. Hmmmm ... "Chronos Teeth Sharpener" --- foreshadowing the belief that the wolf (Chronos) would eat his progeny, as per Greek mythology. I'm going to have to watch this a few times to hatch the clues. Is it "Mother Oister" over "A Hospital" or "Mother Sister?" Can't tell if it's an "O" or a cursive "S." If it's the former, is it a take on the Lewis Carroll poem about the mother oyster who warned her children, but they still went with the walrus & carpenter? And both were intent on eating them but Walrus tricks Carpenter and eats most of them. Then Alice has to decide who is worse. At first she thinks the walrus is the better of the two because he at least felt sorry for the little oysters. But then it is pointed out that Walrus actually ate more (all in the Disney flick) of them. She is put at a quandary because she realizes they are both guilty, regardless of intent, who actually did the eating or who felt bad about it. So I am wondering if that is symbolism in this story. Both the sheep and wolf bear guilt even though one seems nicer and the other wasn't able to follow through with his intention to eat his young. The "nice one" is also destructive & tricks the other. I don't get the writing on the Sheep's car: "Room for 10." Oh, wait. It's the litter. She had 8, 7 sheep & one donkey. BTW, if I haven't said it yet, this is spectacular & genius. Grabs my emotions and sends me hurtling into a world of shadowy, nuanced grays.

A wolf in a sheep's clothing and reverse, that's cool and creative!
