Dr. Cho is one of the most experienced and powerful intercessors of the last century.
He’s disciplined himself to pray 2 to 3+ hours every day.
He began his church with just 5 people, preaching in an old U.S. Military tent.
From such humble beginnings, his congregation grew to become the largest church in the world.
When asked what the secret of his success is, he said, “It is very simple, I pray and I obey!”
Dr. Cho and the Korean Christians have had ongoing revival for decades.
Someone once said, You will never be greater than your prayer life.
Dr. Cho has a great prayer life!
There are no shortcuts to being a great man or woman of God.
Matthew 6:33 is true! Seek first the Kingdom of God and all these things will be added to you.
The Devil, the world, and sometimes your own mind will try and convince you that prayer is a waste of time.
Was it a waste of time for David Yonggi Cho?
Certainly not! Look at the life of any great man or woman of God; if you look close enough, you will find a person with a great prayer life.
South Korea is a nation rich with prayer warriors!
What most people do not know is that Christians from all over South Korea get up before sunrise every morning for prayer. Churches are filled with praying believers. It is no wonder why God has blessed South Korea so much in such a short time.
My wife and I lived in South Korea in 1979 and 1980.
When we were there, South Korea was emerging from 3rd world country conditions.
The nation was still impoverished as a result of the Korean war of the 1950s and also from the Japanese occupation prior to that war.
In 1979, while I was a Chaplain’s Assistant, we had the privilege of attending Yoido Full Gospel Church when I would have a Sunday off from my duties. We have blessed memories of what we saw and experienced among the South Korean Christians, most notably their corporate prayer. My wife has said, that if it were not for the faithful, fervent prayers of these praying Christians, South Korea could now be under the oppressive rule of North Korea and/or China. The entire Orient, and the World would look much differently, much darker today if not for the powerful, consistent, faithful, selfless prayings of these South Korean Christians.
One important thing for Americans to know is that South Koreans really do appreciate what our nation has done for them. They are truly thankful for the sacrifices of our military, the aid given them, and the stand for true freedom that our nation takes in the World.
How has South Korea impacted the world?
From the perspective of world missions alone, it has been reported that Korea has sent out 27,436 Korean missionaries from various denominations, who are serving in 170 countries. This is very astounding considering the fact that just 60 years ago the entire nation had been raped, plundered, pillaged, and plunged into dire poverty. It has been said that there were few trees left after the occupation and the war.
How does a nation so ravaged, recover from such devastating events and circumstances?
They got on their knees, and stayed there until God came!
Currently, Wikipedia says this about South Korea;
South Korea is a highly developed country and the world's 11th largest economy by nominal GDP.
Its citizens enjoy the world's fastest Internet connection speeds and the longest years of tertiary education in the world, along with the world's second most equal access to quality healthcare, resulting in the third highest health adjusted life expectancy in the world. South Korea is a global leader in many technology and innovation driven fields, being the world's 5th largest exporter and 8th largest importer. Since 2014, South Korea has been named the world's most innovative country by the Bloomberg Innovation Index for 6 consecutive years.
What has made the difference? What made this change?
What could transform a small nation, smaller than Florida, so devastated, so destroyed, so downcast and so helpless and turn it into the model of what a blessed nation looks like for all the world to see?
The common denominators of this amazing phenomenon are the rising growth of Christianity, faith and prayer.
South Korea is an example of what God can do in a nation when Christians practice 2 Chronicles 7:14.
David Yonggi Cho (born 14 February 1936 as Paul Yungi Cho) is a South Korean Christian minister, founder of the Yoido Full Gospel Church (Assemblies of God), the world's largest congregation, with a claimed membership of 830,000 (as of 2007).
God is so faithful to us to give us vessels after his own heart and kingdom like Pastor David Yonggi Choi. May his soul rest in heavenly peace. First book I’m buying as a christian is “Holy Spirit, My Senior Partner” by Pastor Choi.

Thank you so much for sharing! God bless and refresh Dr. Yonggi Cho! What a blessing he is. The seriousness, dedication, and discipline of the Korean Church is very inspiring and humbling. Dr. Cho calls praying 3 hours per day "lazy". That tells a lot about us. God help us to focus and rearrange our lives around fellowship with Him through prayer. 3 hours per day is feasible if we pray one hour early in the morning, then one hour during our lunch break after a quick lunch, and finally one hour in the evening. I often put on the Word (audio Bible) on play on my phone or in my car during shower, traffic, and any down time. This builds me up continually and the Holy Spirit leads me through the Word. Enter prayer with an anointed praise and worship song to condition your spirit, and ask the Holy Spirit "Help me to pray, Precious Holy Spirit". Your prayer life will become exciting and energized, and God will speak much to you. Everything is settled in prayer: our character, needs, guidance, deliverance, etc. Grace and peace.

Is this a current video. Is the intercessors conference in Portland at City Bible Church started again? I used to go more often than not every year. Great Church. Great conferences every time. Darn it I'm gonna have to plan for next year.
