Episode 2 from the series 10 2 Samuel - 2022 with Skip Heitzig. Watch the complete series: • 2 Samuel - 2022 This teaching is from the series 10 2 Samuel - 2022 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.
Wonderful teaching of how a king should act especially when things on his watch are done that are not his doing; The people really witnessed kingship. Thank you Pastor Skip for this outstanding teaching.
Thanks Pastor Skip - David's actions in these chapters seems puzzling. Abner is responsible for leading the war against David for a long time and killing 20 of his men at Gibeon - including his nephew Asahel. Abner and David form a covenant after which his other two nephews Joab and Abishai kill Abner to avenge their brother's murder. Yet David mourns the death of Abner and calls his nephews evildoers and puts a curse on Joab's family. One would think he would be more sympathetic to his nephews. But perhaps he saw Abner as the key to unifying Israel after Abner made covenant with him. As far as those who dismiss the Bible - well they're very often the same ones who believe we originated from a primordial mud puddle that got zapped by lightning. Remember that natural people cannot receive the things of the spirit of God because God must give us spiritual discernment. Jesus said no one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him. So it's like asking a person blind from birth to paint a sunset. Until the natural person humbles himself and asks God for illumination, God will remain hidden in a cloud of unknowing although His fingerprints are seen throughout creation- so they are without excuse (Roman's 1:20) God bless.
