I've been a fan of your fantasy work for ages, but I'm loving the sci-fi terrain even more right now. Careful with going down the path of rust, though... once you start painting things rusty, it gets hard to stop!
I have been doing some gaslands kitbash es lately and I have been doing the tried and true trick of super glue and baking soda trick for rust texture. You just go hard and sloppy and it comes out great.
These looks great. Love the way they came out. I like how you used the granny grading at a 45 degree angle to look more industrial and less like the original source material.
Consider adding plastic-glue to your arsenal... it literally fuses the pieces together, and works a treat on old sprues. Though I'd still use super-glue for the "granny grating," since that's a different kind of plastic.
@@brokenterrain Citadel and Army Painter have their own versions, but most swear by Mr. Hobby, which the Bishojo Plamo (Pretty Girl Plastic Model) hobbyists use to seal up visible seams in the fleshy-bits of their cuties... not a problem I run into with 30 Minute Sisters kits, but Megami Device and similar? Yeah, they usually have some pretty visible seam-lines that a little plastic-cement and a sanding-stick won't take care of.
man you gotta get a pair of godhand spn 120,those sprue cutters your using are gnarly are really leave some very rough stress marks all over the sprue and plastic I assume this is happening to your models as well however maybe not as important if your painting but seriously those nippers will change your life
@thetribunaloftheimaginatio5247 no most people swear by tamiya extra thin cement....Mr hobby(gunze aka gsi creos now)is also great but tamiya is the best however most people don't know you can save a whole lot of money by just getting tamiya x20 thinner it's the same ingredients at a fraction of the price
Those are some nice catwalks. I'd make some of my own, but I found some ready-made platforms of similar enough style from Daiso, the Japanese dollar store, a while back. All they needed was a paint job, and they stack well.
Time is an important resource too. If you can find ready-made pieces for a fair price, then that is a huge win. Thank you as always, for checking out and commenting on the video. 😎👍
I've been watching terrain videos for years but only just found your channel, I don't know why the algo was hiding you but wow some very great build ideas here!
Great video! I love seeing sprew being used for terrain! 😊 Ive heard from a couple of other channels that if you 'heat treat' the granny grating it takes glue much better, from what i saw they just held a liter to it for a short time, ive not had a chance to try it myself though.
So, I have a pair of end wire nippers myself, but your particular pair has that nice set of what I think of as fangs on only one side that look fantastic to work with. 1. What brand are they? 2. Where can I find some? (I'm in Canada but I'd order if I had to)
I'm not exactly sure where the pliers I'm using come from. As far as I can tell, they are from a company called tekton, but I have been unable to find a matching pair online. Closest I can find are linked in the video description. I suggest searching for "end cutting pliers" and looking through the results.
@@brokenterrain thanks for the reply. I'll have a look around and see what I can come up with. If I get a hit, I'll let you know in case someone else wants a pair
They're "High leverage end cutters" they're quite pricey from what I see online, between $65-100+ Canadian. Now that I know what they're called, I can shop around locally for a good deal! Thanks for giving me the brand name, it helped solve the mystery!
YES
Appreciate it Wyloch. Big fan. 👋😁
That aditional scatter beneath the walkways really sells the pices.. =)
Your builds are super accessible and I really appreciate that.
Thank you 😊👍
They turned out great! Sprues as construction materials is a great way to repurpose them.
I'm looking forward to making more sprue creations.

Very addictive
awesome build. definitely trying his out this weekend.
Craft on! 😎👍

"Go hard and sloppy" 😎👍
Don't worry about your homemade clumps. They look exactly like beach grass, perfect for sandy terrain
😎👍

It looks so much better at a 45 degree angle. It's practically a must.

Good tip. I'll look into it.

Yep - came here to recommend plastic cement.

Awesome video. One of the best on sprue reuse! Would be really great to share additional ideas. Sprues are the biggest part we throw away
Looks like it'd work really well for Necromunda terrain!
Fantastic use of waste material!
I appreciate it. Thank you so much.
That is a nice terrain.
Thank you so much 😁👍

This is awesome! Got my creative juices flowing for some post modern/apocalyptic terrain.
That's awesome. If your on Instagram I'd love to see what you create.
You're use the DM Scotty style of complimenting your own work saying how it looks fantastic haha
DM Scotty has been a huge influence on me.

Looks good! Great way to recycle! 😊
Thank you 😊

I like the old drop
I like the new logo, but I think the new drop is missing something. 🤔
Great job as always!
Thank you so much 😊👍
Good stuff, BT. The rust looks real good.
Thank you RD. 😊 👍
Great pieces bro! I am glad you keep cranking out content.
Thank you 😊
Nice! Sandwiching the grating is a good technique - that stuff really sucks to glue.
It continues working well for me.
Looks great normally don’t do warhammer stuff but I might try these!!!
Awesomeness. Thanks for checking out the video.
I also melt down sprues in acetone and fill my silicone molds to turn my old plastic into new plast8c or a very nice putty.
I would like to try this.
This looks fantastic, liked & subscribed. I am building something similar for Necromunda. Great stuff mate.
Thanks for the sub!
Very cool post , now l should attack my box of shame.
So many minis. So little time.
I hope you are okay buddy...haven't seen anything recently, not that there needs to be... But I just hope all is well for you
Appreciate it. I'm okay just major life changes. I'm trying to adapt.
It seems like you should have doubled the the support beams to give it a sturdy/ chunky support.
You could be right.
There’s a toy company I found that has figures that would work really well with some of your builds. The company is called Safari Ltd.
They make the Toobs educational toys. I did some Egyptian scatter with some of them here in this video ua-cam.com/video/bEeCifu2r58/v-deo.html
How do I keep missing your vids?
I know right? Darn that UA-cam algorithm. I'm punished greatly for not doing a video a week.

Team work! 😁👍
what is that sqare floor stuff? granny grading? no native speaker thou...
Crafters call it "granny grating", but really it's a plastic mesh used for cross stitching -- search for "cross stitch mesh" and you'll find it.
Broken Terrain, great work 👏
Any chances of a fantasy tank and or battle wagon?
Oh, there's always a chance. 😉
@@brokenterrain 😊👍
Hey BT, ya wanna do a fallout commission? Do you know the classic Red Rocket truck stop?
If this dude doesn’t do it, I’d be down.
That sounds fun. Let me take a look.
NOIÇE, Necromunda anyone?
Yes sir.
