- It's my birthday! And this is my birthday fountain pen! My first Sailor; the Sailor 1911 Large.
I unbox it, talk about the parts and features of the pen, provide some size comparisons and measurements, and then do a writing sample. After the writing sample, I talk about what I like and what I don't like about the pen. Please feel free to use the chapters provided below to skip to various parts of the review.

Happy birthday to everyone’s favourite Canadian fountain pen enthusiast/ guitar legend. Hope you have a great year and continue to be a GOAT 🐐 😀😀😀😀
Thanks, GengarOfficial!
Awesome review of an awesome pen
Happy Birthday Mr. Rathbun. Hope you enjoy it in good health and in company of your loved ones for many years to come.
Thank you so much, Santa !
Habby Birthday. Great video, thanks for answering all my question that I've had about gold nibs...
Happy to help!
happy birthday, sir, and thank you for the nib flexibility comparison. It helped me decide what kind of nibs to buy. Have a great week.
Glad to help! Thank you, Gristle Von Raben!
Sir, you must be child at heart because today is the children's holiday! Happy birthday and what a festive moment in time to celebrate the Sailor 1911 also! Thanks for the treat.
I am!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOUG
Thank you so much, Miss Marilyn Darling!
Happy Birthday, great video. Celebrating my BD this upcoming week, and I'm getting a gift certificate...
Happy birthday! Thank you so much, Tic Tac!
Great Review Doug, and funny oh yaaaaaaaa Tube and throat singing... ha ha ha... Glad your birthday present is something you can really enjoy. Sailor knows it's business 🙂
Happy Birthday Sir Doug, and what a great gift for a great day as well. Thanks for making us informational and knowledgable videos still
Thank you kindly , Adriel. That is much appreciated!
Happy Birthday and thank you for all you do. I don't know if you truly understand how much we look forward to your presentations. The instruction about the arches as it applies to the nib was brilliant.
Thank you MrCabimero. That is much appreciated!
Happy Birthday, Doug! May you produce more and more wonderful fountain pen reviews!
More to come!
Happy Birthday Doug Sir. Its a lovely present. Enjoy the 1911L
Happy birthday Prof Doug! 🎉🎂. I see you share your birthday with Her Majesty Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, of Canada and Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith. I hope she passed on one or two of her spare titles, sir. [I do hope I got Her Majesty's Titles correct ... or I could be spending some time at Her Majesty's pleasure in The Tower of London].
You have been a star channel since lockdown a couple of year ago! Thank you so much for making such excellent professional quality videos. You'd think you might know a thing or two about ... I dunno ... expounding on diverse topics ... somehow.
. Keep up the great work. I hope my comments don't annoy you too much - I am determined to do my part to get you noticed by THE ALGORITHM!
Yayy!!! Thanks aag24! Keep pumpin' that algorithm!
🎶 some gal would giggle and I'd get red and some guy would laugh and I'd bust his head. I tell ya, life ain't easy for a boy named Sue.🎶 ( Happy Belated Doug. Much love!!)
Happy bfday Doug, wise choice finally u get a sailor.
Excellent insights into nib geometry and metallurgy - now I’m off to look at all my nibs and test flex, bounce, feedback, etc. Thanks, Doug - you prove again that this fountain pen passion never ceases to amaze and fascinate. Happy Birthday Doug! (I’m also going to install camelcamelcamel now as well.)
Thanks, Bob !
Happy birthday great pen choice enjoy .
Thanks Steven!
Happy Birthday, Doug!!! I hope you have a great time of celebration. That Sailor is a beautiful pen! I love Sailor pens. My favorites are the Realo’s (piston fill). Sailor nibs are truly something special & I’ve never been disappointed, from the entry level pens with steel nibs up to the expensive models with 21k gold nibs. Thank you for the superb review!
Thank you so much, Jeff ! Much appreciated!
Happy birthday Doug!! 🎂🎉. Wishing you many more candles! BTW, enjoy your new Sailor!
Thank you! Will do!
Feliz Cumpleaños Doug! Enjoy the writing instrument! 😊
Thank you! Will do!
Happy Birthday Doug!!! Nice pen!! So glad you addressed the conversation we both had about nib material and what you told me about nib shape being the more deciding factor on how much a nib flexes.
You bet!
Happy Birthday. Nice B-day gift . Enjoy! Thanks for sharing with us
Thank you 🤗
Happy Birthday Doug 🎉 So glad you like your Sailor 191L! The MF is my favorite nib size, it maintains a fine line without being the slightest bit scratchy and has just the right amount of wetness. I think you’ll find every time you pick up that pen you will like it more and more. Great video and wishing you a happy and healthy year to come and many many more !!!!
Thanks for sharing, YorkieMama222!
Outstanding. Enjoy! Really good explanation on the different curvature of the nibs and how it affects flexibility, not the material.
Glad it was helpful!
happy birthday!
Happy belated birthday Doug! . a 1911 Large is a good way to mark one's B-day! Mine was 5/12.

Happy birthday Doug.
I've had my Sailor 1911 L with M/F nib for some years, and it gives me pleasure every time I use it (which is often). I agree, it's a great pen; my favourite over some much fancier and more expensive models. I wish you years of joy using it.
Right on!
Congratulations on another trip around the sun! I have a 1911S which I really need to spend more time with - it's one of those pens that's been neglected in my normal rotations, but I've enjoyed it every time I've used it.
Right on! Thanks, Brian!
Happy birthday, Doug! Thanks for another wonderful review and looking forward to many more. Now I've learnt to check for architectural physics and not metallurgy! I have a Sailor 14K with Zoom nib on my wishlist.
My pleasure! Thank you, Twain Art!
I am surprised your 1911 didn't come with a converter. I got a converter with both of mine for free.
Splendid! What a lovely birthday present! I appreciated the discursus on geometry and nibbage. Explains a lot.
Glad it was helpful!
Happy birthday. Beautiful pen. I have not tried one yet, but hope to one day.
Happy Birthday!
Thank you so much, Edison Trent!
Have a wonderful birthday and year! Enjoyed the review.
Thank you so much!

Excellent video, sir, and a very happy birthday! And big congrats on your new pen! You certainly deserve it!
Thank you very much!
Happy Birthday Doug!! My wife and I love your videos.
Awesome! Thank you and your wife! :)
Happy birthday, Doug! Hope you enjoyed your new acquisition! I have yet to try a Sailor pen myself and it’s been almost 6 years since I started to use fountain pens and I’m still relatively a beginner. I don’t own one single pen with a gold nib and I’m saving up money in order to work hard for it.

Have a fantastic day with your new pen!
Thanks for sharing, Hari Sivakumar!
Wow. Happy Birthday and many more to come. Enjoy!
Thanks so much
Happy birthday and congrats on the new pen :).
Oh this is delightful! I just had to order my first sailor large! I have a 1911S and its a bit too small, and have been holding out for the Large version, but this video just put me over the top… ordered mine and should have it next week! Oh I cant wait now!
Congratulations Denise! I know you’ll love it. Tell me how it goes!
Happy Birthday, Doug!!! Your in beautiful snow globe. Great review!👍🏽
Thanks, Reena!
Happy Birthday Doug. Hope you have/had a wonderful day. Still love that classic style of the black and gold. May not be as exciting as an "Amber is a cat" or "Galaxy" bet a true classic that stirs this collectors soul. Still havent't pulled the trigger on a Sailor yet but am looking forward to my first. Love my Platinum 3776 in Burgoene that I got at an obscene price on Amazon. Actually Amazon US has this pen for $174 US dollars right now, Tempting. Thanks for another great review.
Thanks, Kevin! That's a great price for that 3776!
🎇Happy Birthday Doug🎉. Congratulations on your Sailor 1911L. In honor of your birthday I’m breaking out my 20 year old Sailor 1911L with a music nib and inking it up. I usually only use it once every couple of years as my preference is an EF or F nib for everyday writing.
Breaking out the 20 year old Sailor sounds like Scotch! LOL
Don't make your M800 angry, Doug. You wouldn't like it when it's angry. Thanks for the great review, and Happy Birthday!
LMAO! I would never vex my M800 - what a magnificent pen!
I’ve owned the 1911L and the MB 146 (and the larger versions of both). For my money, the 1911L and 146 are as perfect as any pens ever made (and I’ve tried/owned them all, vintage and modern). If I owned just those two pens and no others, I’d be thrilled.
I just bought one as a gift for my 2022 self :) I can't wait to write more with it in 2023!
Thank you so much for your informative and delightful contents. Your videos always inspire me to live life with joy and style!
If you're reading this, Happy New Year!!! 🎆🎆🎆
You are so welcome! Happy New Year!
Happy Birthday to you-er than you Doug!! Thank you for your videos, You are my favourite pen reviewer because you share more information than about the pen. You provide the history of the pen, its maker, anc comparisons to other pens. Sharing what makes a pen write smoother? Then explaining how its the Geometry not the gold content of a nib was insightful! I learn so much from you Doug, you are my friend, and fountain pen mentor!! Thank you. I haven't written to you although I wat to, but I am ashamed of my handwriting. I bought a book to help me improve my cursive and I will write to you soon! 🥳🎁🎈🎊🎉👑
Awww that's awfully sweet of you, Maria! Thank you so much. It is much appreciated!
@@InkquiringMinds My pleasure to say it like it is!!!
Happy Birthday 🎉🥳🎉!!! GOD BLESS YOU. 😇☺️🥰😊

Happy birthday! I hope you have a great day, greetings from Asturias (Northern Spain, EU). Keep feeding us your AWESOME vids! ;)
Thank you! Will do!
Happy birthday Doug. I know is 3 days later... mainly because some personal health issues. I hope you spend your birthday with your loved ones. Feliz Cumpleaños Doug 🎂.
Thank you so much, Jorge! Be well!
Happy birthday mr Doug. This is my most favorite pen that I own. I got a great deal on it from Reddit. I paid 160 for the black and gold 1911L and it is as wonderful as I thought it would be. Hope you have a blessed and happy birthday
Thank you so much, AVG!
Happy Birthday. Sailor is a great choice. Hope you do get some nice warm spring days but I was told it has snowed every month of the year (in Alberta). Beautiful pen
We've had snow in every month of the year since we've lived here (33 years).
Happy birthday!! I bought myself the Sailor 1911 Profit Zoom
How do you like it?
@@InkquiringMinds it’s fine if you write at a high angle. If I try writing as I normally do it is very broad strokes. It takes some getting used to.
Many more Doug!
Thanks, Wendy !
Happy birthday Mr. D !!! 🇷🇴🎩
Happy Birthday Doug.
Yeeees fountain pens make the best birthday ( or any day) presents! Im "lucky" to have ridiculously small hands. Sailor's " standard" or " slim" models fit my hands like a 1911 Large fits most other peoples. I own mostly lower priced Sailor pens but i do have a 1911 S Wicked Witch with a Zoom nib and a Black n Rhodium Progear Slim with a super fine nib. Id love a cocktail series pen or, hell, a King of Pen, but I've got bills to pay too, baby! lol
Happy Birthday Papa Bear!!!
Thanks, Dean! I think I'll probably own a Montblanc before I get a Sailor KOP!
Happy Birthday Doug! Great pen! Another aspect of geometry is the shape and size of the tines. The Sailor nib looks a bit more slender than the Platinum. This could contribute to the flex/bounce/softness.
Very true!
I have a Sailor KOP ($456.00 USD), and a Sailor/Wancher 1911 Large ($345.00 USD). They are comparable, but the 1911 is shorter and of smaller girth than the KOP, which has a massive nib; both nibs are 21K. I also have the Montblanc 149 with an 18K nib (Don't remember what I paid for it). All of them are fine writers, but I prefer the Sailor 1911, which came with a matte black finish. I enjoy your reviews and insights.
Thanks for sharing!
Happy Birthday, Douguíssimo! I got a 1911L Black Luster a couple of months ago. Like you, I really enjoy the pen. But I like minimal to no feedback, so I smoothed the nib a little. Since I prefer a western medium, I ordered a broad. I agree that Sailor pens are generally too small for my hands (thin but long fingers). Hence, I don’t even look at the Slim or Standard models. Plus, they’re way overpriced for having simple plastic bodies.
Excellent! Well said, Oscar!
Happy Belated Birthday
Another great review. I'm pleased that you got a birthday present to remember with a nib that brought you something new. The bonus was a marriage to that FWP black ink.
PS There's no doubt it should come with the converter
Thank you so much, Peter!
Happy birthday Doug. It is truly wonderful getting a nice new pen for your birthday! I will have to check the records but I think this is Doug's third birthday this year! 🤣🤣🤣
Exponentially older! 😉
Great job on the links!

Thanks so much! Enjoy the skiing weather!
Happy Birthday Doug! Enjoy your day! Impressive pen (that ink is just gorgeous as well - may be my next ink purchase). I agree that Sailor should include the converter in their pens (even the inexpensive Pilot Metropolitan comes with a converter). Does Jack Hernandez have a website for his nib grinding services? I've heard you mention his name many times and was interested in seeing the types of nib grinds he offers. If they're like the architect grinds he's done for you that you rave about, then he's got a great thing going. Another great video Doug!
Thanks, Juan! Jack doesn't have a website but does have Instagram. He is "jackokun" there.
Well, Happy Birthday to one of my favorite FP reviewers! Good choice on the Sailor 1911 Large. I "gifted" myself one about two years ago -- the "Sea glass model" and fell in love with the way the Sailor writes! The looks are good, too, My personal two negatives of the Sailor line are 1) the ink capacity is on the small side (and no larger in the large KOP!) and 2) the pens themselves are on the small side; the "large" is about the smallest I would go for my hand.
The premium you must pay for a KOP is borderline offensive.
Thanks for sharing, 13noman1!
@@ichirofakename And for me personally, the PG KOP could be at least 7mm longer to make it more proportionate for that large nib on it. As it is it's a stubby pen.
@@yuklimka7251 Makes me wish I had smaller hands. Mine seem to fall outside of the target audience.
@@ichirofakename My hands are the length of a capped Opus 88 Bela (ca. 15 cm) from the wrist to the tip of my middle finger - and I still want Sailor pens to be longer so they don't look this stubby anymore, because I prefer to use my pens unposted. I prefer Pilot's (and Opus 88's) proportions. There are guys on Reddit with XXL hands (21 cm) looking for pen recommendations. Are you familiar with the Hand Over That Pen blog? They do group reviews. Three reviewers with different hand sizes and grip styles, one pen. side-by-side photos of what the pen looks like in the hand.
After watching your video, I decided to buy the pen. (There may also have been some bourbon involved.) This is my first Sailor. WOW! That’s my reaction: it’s an AMAZING writer. You read and hear often about how Sailor nibs are both smooth and have feedback. You think, ‘How is that possible?’ Yet somehow it is possible. I get it now, I get it . . .
Congrats, Mojave Joe, I hope you enjoy it!
Their refinedness, the nibs' I mean, is unbelievable. And their custom-made nibs (Naginata series), of course, we can imagine to be at a still higher level, unthinkable if we don't get one. Which is very reasonable to predict we are never doing :).
I watched your sneak peek, but had to see how you liked the 1911L once you had inked it. I have two 1911s - one made by Sailor, the other by Smith & Wesson, albeit the feedback from the latter is a much stouter than the former. Your comments on the pen are similar to my experience; as to the lack of converter, yeah, “What’s up with that?” Again Happy Birthday! I had my 74th this past week.
Happy Birthday, Bill!
@@InkquiringMinds thank you, Doug
I didn't "get" the Sailor buzz until I tried them, and was afraid I would not care for the "feedback," but wow! They make a true writer's nib. I am deciding between the MF and M, but a Pro Gear Standard is my grail pen. I thought I would like the KOP, but the huge jump in both size and price from the Standard broke that deal. I do like larger pens, but I did not like the feel of the KOP.
Finally, your analysis is nib architecture affirms my informal observations.
You chose well! Happy Birthday Doug.
Thank you for saying you don't like the KOP. I need all the discouragement I can get.
Thank you so much, Jackie!
I have got two Sailors, one is the Profit 21 which is the 1911 Large you have, and the other one is Professional Gear, they have the same nib size, but ProGear is more attractive because its cap finial has an anchor logo on it, the 1911 L is a torpedo shape fountain pen which reminds me of MontBlanc LeGrand 146 (boring nib, very stiff, I tried it yesterday from a shop, I still prefer Pelikan's 18K gold nib to the MB 146 14K nib). The sailor 21K nib is soft, and has feedback and not scratchy, I got the medium nib.
I have the same experience.
Happy Bithday. May your personal New Year be fantastic beyond your imagination.
Thank you! You too!
Happy birthday Doug! 🎉 Mine is tomorrow! Fellow April babies haha Though, I cannot afford the sailor that I want, for now lol 😭 I'm quite surprised that your pen didn't come with a converter, my less expensive pro gear slim did come with one, plus the 2 black cartridges 🤔 very strange.. I hope you have (or had?) A great birthday!
Happy Happy Day Day Lili!!
I have a Pro Gear regular coming in a week, I'm pretty excited to try it out. I bought a pro gear slim in March, beautiful pen, dark green with gold trim, but I find the medium-fine 14k nib to have more toothy-ness than I like. I also have a Pro Color 500, which is the same as the small 1911 except it has a steel nib. it has one of the most beautiful resins I've ever seen, its a dark blue that is almost black with glitter. it's very slightly translucent so the glitter that is deeper into the pen takes on a blue hue. and just as a tip, the pen came with a fine steel nib that was even toothier than the gold medium-fine, so I didn't actually use the pen, but it turns out it will accept the nib from a pilot custom 74, so now I have a pen that looks nicer than the Pilot and writes better than the Sailor!
That sounds like a beautiful pen!
@@InkquiringMinds my Pro Gear just came in, I've gotten a few nice pens in the last month or so (probably too many to be honest lol) but the medium 21kt on this pen tops them all in writing experience. compared to my pro gear slim the length isn't that much more but it's a lot girthier, and that make a huge difference. now to try and convince myself to take a few weeks off on my buying spree! wish me luck! (the two tone Sailor nib is stunning by the way)
@@coreyjs55 That's awesome Corey! Does this one have the new Sailor nib engraving?
@@InkquiringMinds I didn't notice until you asked, but it does have the new engraving.
Happy Birthday Doug. I too just had my birthday the other day. Where does the time go. I also love the size of the 19ll but I also get the 1911S and the ProGear ones as they come in different colors. They seem like "pocket size" pens LOL. Enjoy! :)
Happy birthday! Thanks, BA Haven!
You almost convinced me to put a Sailor pen on my wish list. But it won't be a 1911 L. Although I have moderately large hands for my size, I'm not a fan of pens that make me feel like I'm holding a kindergarten crayon or pencil. When the time comes for me to seriously consider a Sailor, I'll be aiming at the Pro Gear Slim or Pro Gear Slim Mini!
So, congratulations on another trip around the sun and your latest pen acquisition! I hope you get great enjoyment from your pen and that you have a GREAT year, sir!
Thank you so much, TheNightowl001!
Beautiful beautiful beautiful pen. Same exact one I got from Reddit. I have the HM nib though. Lovely pen. Hope you like it as much as I love mine.
I love it!
Happy Birthday, Doug. Hope your 1911L will bring you pen happiness. Personally, I'm saving for a Sailor 1911, and Realo, and getting a Naginata Togi nib on one of them. Is the Sailor 1911 comparable to the MB146? I just don't want to get a LeGrand if the feel provides comparablly little difference.
The sections of the two pens are quite different. The 1911 feels slimmer in the hand.
Black and gold all day every day. Classic, but plain as toast (burnt toast?) 😆 At least the heat of writing (or whatever) is there!
One day I'll get to experience that new Sailor pen smell fresh from the box. I'm actually looking for a part time gig to make the rest of the year funner. Add some variety to my secondhand pen hunt routine. Happy belated birthday!! (Sorry, I was a little beat this weekend and didn't turn the screen on much) 🎂
Thank you so much, Amy!
Since I bought my first Sailor pen, I buy only Sailor pens. Theoretically.
All gold Sailors are overpriced. You pay a premium for their nibs, which I'm prepared to pay, but reasonable people wouldn't be. And you pay another, bigger premium for their multi-color pens, that I'm not prepared to pay, just yet. And for an actually full-sized pen (KOP), you pay, or most of us DON'T pay, a ridiculously giant premium.
I'm curious about their no-longer-manufactured soft nibs. Though the fact that they are no longer made really should dampen this desire.
Good review. I share your enthusiasm.
Oh, and you also pay an unacceptable premium if you want a piston (Realo).
I was glad to get a bit of a discount!
The sole candle on the pen box is a deft touch. All the Best!
Thanks, Andrew and Dewi!
Tomoe River Paper's company is called Tomoegawa which, in Kanji, is 巴川 (pronouced Ba Chuan in Mandarin). Your paper is most probably a Chinese imitation of the TRP (not unlike bubbling wine used to imitate Champagne and straight out called themselves Champagne despite not being grown and brewed there)
Excellent ... cheers! 🍻
Thank you! Cheers!
Greetings from Australia.
Great Video Doug.
Perhaps I will purchase one too? But at $487Aud I will wait a bit longer.
Incidentally I received my Pilot E95s and what a great writer. So thanks for your advice on that I'll forget about the Wing Sung with gold nib.
Take care.
That's very pricey! Congrats on your Pilot! It is a great writer.
Nice writin', son! ; )
Happy Birthday, Doug, and congratulations on your first Sailor pen. You still have the older nib design on your pen. Some users dislike the new anchor design, saying it looks kinda plain. Sailor is definitely the most adventurous/prolific in coming up with new colorways of the Big Three. Over on r/fountainpens Sailor gets bashed quite a bit for low effort. I don't see the same reaction to yet another Lamy Safari or AL-Star... The comparison between the different nibs' springiness and the sound on paper was interesting to observe. (I checked Vanness, Penchalet, and Goldspot Pens, just to be sure, and they all list the Bela as a #6 Bock nib.) And Pelikan doesn't issue that many SE versions of the M800 compared to the M2xx. Many happy writing experiences with your 1911L.
Yes, I've seen the new design and I much prefer this one. And, you are right. I keep making that mistake with the Opus 88 Bela. It is a Bock nib.
@@InkquiringMinds It can happen easily when a manufacturer uses two of the largest suppliers of nibs at the same time for different models in their product range. The only reason I brought it up was because of the different threading - which I learned about on this channel in the first place. Cheers!
Doug...happy birthday, nice gift! Sailor definitely makes a wonderful pen with great nibs. A comment about the Pelikan M800 I got one over a year ago from Goulet pens that was a limited version called Stone Garden. A very beautiful pen that looks very different from their norm.
Check it out...
Thanks for the great review as always!!
Thanks for the info!
I bought the Standard but it does really mean Small. I was disappointed and wished I spent the extra $$$ for the large. If Jin Hao x159 comes out with special edition color Sailor offered I’ll buy that instead
Honestly, the snow still beat the peans on being stunning...... (only because I never been in snow)..... Id do anything for a snow fight for two minutes.....
I have a Sailor 1911 “Realo,” their piston filler (slightly longer because of the piston and window). I love it, but I wish I had chosen the same color combination you did. Know it is more the classic black and gold, but i think the traditional pops much more than the burgundy (or whatever the color is called by Sailor). Regardless, it is one of the best everyday writers I have. It was surely a “happy birthday” to a deserving guy! Great review! [you also explained to me why I have never been impressed by the 18K Platinum President nib! (Although some tuning might make mine better! :)
File under To Each His Own: I love my burgundy PGS Mini, the most of all.
Thanks for sharing, Keith!
Happy Birthday Doug. I just received notification that my birthday pen was delivered today but I'm down in Mexico so I had arranged before we left for my neighbor to pick the package up from my step when it arrived. I doubt a DHL package would last 5 days on my step. Your Sailor is a lovely pen and a great choice for a birthday purchase.
Happy birthday! You've got something to look forward to coming home. What is it may I ask?
I got the Pilot Custom 74 in a solid burgundy color. It's not available in Canada so I had to order it from a seller in Japan.
@@johngrubb007 Wow. I would LOVE that one! I love the look of the classic shape but in deep burgundy and gold. I know there are MB 146/149 out there in that combination as well. Enjoy!
@@InkquiringMinds Thanks Doug. I'll post a shot in the Canadian FP group when I get home and actually get my hands on it.
As the Sailor marketing states, "It's all about the nib."
Sailor did not provide colors for their pens for years. It was either black or black with maki-e.
I have 2 1911L pens with different nibs in each. I also have the King of Pen with it's glorious nib. All came with a converter. It is perhaps the dealer that did not provide it.
Glad you enjoy the pen.
Thanks, Paul, for the excellent information!
Happy birthday and congratulations on your first Sailor ! While you gifted yourself a unique 21K gold nibbed pen, I had gifted myself a unique 10K gold nibbed Hero H718 on my previous birthday 😃
Congrats, Sathish Rao, I hope you enjoy it!
@@InkquiringMinds Thanks.. I bought it about a year ago and it’s pretty decent (a capped retractable pen !)
Happy Birthday Doug!!!
Thanks, Robbin !
@@InkquiringMinds Hey I really appreciate the heads-up about the price reduction. Sailor has gone crazy with pricing so this was significant. I just picked up a Progear Slim Shikiori for under a hundred. And thanks to your Birthday present, I found the 1911L for $174. Done. Huge savings.
Wonderful!
Happy Birthday. Another first for you. This is probably the oldest you have ever been!!!
Thanks Don. Of all the Don Browns in the world, you’re the Don Browniest!
Great review and video! If you like the 1911Large, you would love The King Of Pen. The Sailor 1911 Realo is a piston filler which holds more ink than the Sailor converters. Next year, for your special day, you might want to try and find a Senator President with an 18K or 14K nib in F, M, or B!
Yeah, I've seen the Sailor Realo and I have an 18k Broad Platinum President! Thanks, Kevin!
@@InkquiringMinds , You're welcome! You may have a Platinum President with an 18K broad nib but the Senator President is a different pen.
@@kevinlandon7578 My bad. I DID know about the Senator President but just misread your reply! LOL
@@InkquiringMinds , the Senator President is a forgotten pen from back in the day that only a select few know about and appreciate. No worries! Congrats to your Calgary Flames!!
FYI, I just ordered a Sailor from Goulet (the special edition Northern Lights) and it included a converter. Not sure if that’s a Goulet thing, an “authorized retailer” thing, or what. But I thought I’d mention it.
Happy birthday!
Thanks, Stephen , for the excellent information!
Just got one today. Great review. But if you want expensive just check out Nakaya pens lol
