In this video, you will see the exquisite pottery and porcelain manufactured in Jingdezhen (China) in the Qing Dynasty at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries, including Kangxi Wucai (famille verte) porcelain, Qianlong eggshells porcelain, and Chinese/Western ceramics produced to meet European tastes. The treasures on display at the Ariana Museum come from private collections.
Housed in a magnificent late 19th-century building in Geneva, the Ariane Museum was founded in 1884 by the Geneva collector and patron Gustave Revilliod (1817-1890). Today it is the only museum in Switzerland devoted entirely to ceramics and glass and one of the most important specialist museums in Europe. There are permanent and temporary exhibitions in the pavilion, and the collection of more than 27,000 objects records seven centuries of ceramic and glass creation history in Switzerland and around the world, with an emphasis on linking the history of Western ceramics with the Near and Far East.
