Well,it’s not JUST that, tho it’s one good reason. There are a lot of reasons for ironing while constructing a garment. It keeps the pieces flat and true so that you don’t end up with weird overhangs when trying to line up pieces. It makes sure that the fabric lies flat and smooth so that you don’t get puckers in straight seams. It reduces bulk on seam lines, and pressing seams allows you to trim allowances more accurately. It also allows you to control where bulk in the seams will fall as you can press a seam open and flat or closed and directed one way or the other. So, lots of reasons
I learned so much watching you sew this blouse! Such as how to finish raw edges with bias tape, how to finish a sleeve slit/cut (I did it wrong recently on a shirt), and how to iron to shape pieces. Wonderful video 👏
That was great! Please make more tutorials, I would love to incorporate vintage clothing in my wardrobe. So a few tutorials on how to sew, some dresses for example, would be wonderful!
This video is amazing and the blouse is absolutely beautiful! Thank you for all your hard work in posting this. Did you draft the pattern yourself, and if so, could you tell us how you created the pattern so we can as well? ❤️
Hello! After some digging I found a comment response from her in which she answers this. She said she made the pattern herself but mentioned that McCalls or Butterick might have something similar :) I'm too trying to figure out how to draft this
It is very beautiful, I'm in love with this blouse! I just started to learn how to sew because I can't find the apparel I like anywhere so this was very helpful!! Thank you😁
Oh this is gorgeous, very soothing to watch, too. Still very new to sewing, so I think I'll wait to try this until the sewing machine doesn't look like a sewing monster to me ;)
wow! This is absolutely amazing and very inspiring! Did you say you draw the pattern yourself? I would love if you could show us in a video how you did that.
Absolutely amazing! I've never sewn multiple laces together to create a wider panel, and this was a perfect tutorial just for that, never mind the shirt!! Where did you get your laces, if I may ask?
Beautiful! When sewing the lace tapes together, did you use a zigzag stitch? And when you seamed them for the centre front, was it just a straight stitch?
Is it a narrow zig zag machine stitch for attaching the lace tapes? Would a whip stitch or ladderstitch be used if handsewing the lace tapes together? Thank you.
This is not a beginner project. If you are a beginner, I'd advise completing a smaller project first. Perhaps a lavender bag using the same techniques?
Please make an Edwardian skirt that is flattering for large size that is very slimming and an Edwardian vest and coat. Thank you for your gifted teaching! Love your voice please use classical music background. Please model or have someone model the outfits at the end of the videos
This is the most infuriating video on the whole platform as I have not found any pattern that would be close to this one and I really want to make this shirt. Please upload the pattern for purchase! I also checked out McCall's and Butterick and they do not have similar patterns.
I think many blouse patterns would work just cut the front on a fold. You're using lace to replace top sections of the bodice pieces. Buttons are on the lace. Simplicity do have a couple of different sleeve patterns.
Finally... someone explained WHY ironing is important... to "create a shape" thank you very much! I have always wondered WHY.

Very beautiful.
This is making me want to crochet a ton of lace to use in a blouse. I need to do some digging for historically accurate lace patterns.
I love this look but have no idea how I could button up the back after I put it on
