I think AKI is actually pretty underrated (as most DLC characters initially are) - I'm thinking of potentially maining her along with Kim to show this. if you want to check out the grind to #1 AKI or got some AKI questions - check me out on twitch: twitch.tv/diaphone_
Yeah considering Nemo and Lord Daigo say AKI i definitely bottom 1. I’m very interested seeing who will stick with her and how well she does in tournaments.
I always like that you don't release a guide immediately and wait until you learn the characters first. Your guides are always set up with really practical advice on how to play the character instead of lots of combos. I'm a newer player and being able to understand the situations is more important than having the optimal combo in that situation. I've been watching your content since the Strive release and have been enjoying the journey across different fighting games. There's always something new to learn!
Thank you for the extensive guide on AKI! I really like that you go over each normal and special move whether good or bad and why they are good or bad. I think you do a great job in building the blocks and making us aware when moves can whiff or not in range. I think AKI is really fun to play despite her weak defensive options.
Ive been having a pretty bad crisis ever since slayer came out. I've really come to appreciate the depth and breath of starter guides you have on your channel. Thank you.
I've finished this now and this was deeply helpful from top to bottom and very well presented. I really appreciate the presentation of the combo recipes, which seems like it might help with learning the timing as well. Just reading things in notation doesn't give me a lot of information as a total beginner, this really helped make things click!
I love the fireball followup honestly! In the Dee Jay matchup, you can neutralize his second fireball with the follow-up. You can also visually confirm when someone dashes into your fireball from close up, or your fireball hits as a counterpoke, and kind of hit confirm into it! With OD fireball, the followup gives you a third hit. The timing often doesn't work out, but you can even neutralize all three hits of a guile enhanced boom
played against an AKI that spammed fireballs and i started parrying them so they started popping their own bubbles so i wouldn't get drive gauge back. Idk if its a valid strat but i thought it was cool so I had to share.
@@DDBT-nk7lq you use the fireball preemptively the same way you would use a poke to stop drive rush. the followup gives you a knockdown. if someone is doing drive rush into DI you already won lol. that's wack and a complete waste of meter. it's not the most consistent option, but i find that it sometimes works to deter DR spammers.
Thanks Dude, I was really hyped for Aki and spent a lot of time in the lab with her, so I got really depressed when people started saying that she is by far the worst character in the game. I really hope she is better than that, because I don't like the idea of putting in a lot of effort into a complex character and not getting at least a decent reward out of the experience.
I use the FB whip follow-up as a means to strike an opponent when FB will clash. I've also gotten the OD FB pop to catch someone mid air trying to jump the FB. May be useful *sometimes*
It seems to have a bunch of silly little uses. * What you said about clashing fireballs, especially for opponents who like to DR behind the fireball * Messes up parry timing * Weird hitbox is sometimes exactly what you need (just like every bad move 😂) * Free damage if it becomes clear they won't block the fireball * If you're plus, bait them to jump over at the last possible moment, then blow it up early * Cancels the fireball so that you can throw a new one. The world's slowest fireball feint, but I've found it can confuse people who were getting ready to jump over. (Maybe follow with EX fireball to further mess with their timing?) * Weird unsafe frametrap at close range * OD explosion apparently active for 12F, a surprisingly long time to catch jump-ins
Dude you look the kind of person I would love to have as friend! So chill and friendly. Btw, I'm gonna watch this rn! I reached diamond with Aki yesterday, let's see if master ranks is in my possibilities 😂
Amazing video. Just wanted to point out that H lash into medium slide only leaves you plus 5, so the H kick won’t beat wake-up jab. It does however trade to give you some nasty trade combos. Also, after the corner bnb you don’t need to spend meter for drive crouch roundhouse to link a super, all 3 supers will connect after the coward crouch punch follow up.
Was able to catch some of this live. As usual you are really good at making content with lots of good info for beginners but also with lots of nuggets for more experienced players. I especially liked the strategy section. I also definitely agree with you that she's underrated. People are dooming about the character so much but personally I feel way more comfortable playing her than anyone else in the game right now. Honestly though, if people want to downplay the crap out of her that's fine with me. If people stop playing her as much and don't focus on her stuff in the lab because they think she's trash, I will happily take the easy wins from people who don't know the matchup. Great guide!
Heya, thanks for the video, I managed to reach Silver ⭐⭐⭐⭐ rank, and I learned a 6k damage combo 👇 (While poisoned) Aerial heavy kick-> Heavy kick-> sinester slide with heel strike-> double crouching light punch-> heavy serpent lash-> Toxic wreath-> Triple drive rush cancels to heavy kick-> critical art.
Only use I've really come up with for her fireball followup is if we're both round start-ish range and we both throw a fireball, the followup can punish counter them while the fireball negates theirs.
I figured out a lot of this on my own but you def helped me to navigate the neutral with her normals much better. Def appreciate the time you put into making these guides. I watch them even for characters I don't play just for the knowledge. Thanks again my guy.
nice one yea i think she is underated too i can understand 1 m tier list sure she is low but for online she is ok and i think better than kimberly for online
Regarding getting jumped in on when fireballing, you didn't mention that you can cancel it with EX snake step if you have the meter and won't be able to anti-air in time.
Your guides are great thanks a lot for the content. Quick note, could you do a fully separated section for oki please ? I feel it would be even better this way.
The AKI secret guide by Diaphone has arrive, after see the Guide, for the big patch with Akuma release we hope they fix her normals, make the Lv2 complete projectile invencible, better confirms like FANG and remove hurtboxes from the Serpentine Lash.
I think I like it better if the gameplan or strategy to be at the beginning part of the video, for me to care about the normals and specials later on in my opinion. Still, thank you for the guide.
Does the shimmy after medium slide no longer work after season 2 patch? I've been in training against ryu and no matter how perfectly I time it he always grabs me if I set the dummy to wakeup grab
A.K.I. feels like she was designed for those players who always whine about fireball spammers. She has so many anti fireball options it's ridiculous. Slide stance, snake step, and cruel fate are all the generic ones for getting around fireballs, but she also has serpent lash to destroy fireballs, as well as just being able to use her own damn fireball! She can also level 2 on reaction to a fireball if she buffers the inputs. I personally don't have an issue with zoning as a playstyle, but I would definitely use her as a pocket pick in tournament if I just can't seem to find a good way around the fireballs on my main character
Can SOMEONE please explain to me why I'm having such a pain drive cancelling EX lash at the halfway point before the grab on a character in juggle state? Like, I know it's as she pulls herself forward but before the bloom grab. Any help would be appreciated. I like to think of myself as having good execution and this one is beyond me.
i didnt watch the video to its fullest and i ended up getting rushed down by kens and a juri, nightshade chaser is good against zangif any one who has armor
I'm really disappointed by the sinister slide input choice I've done all her combo trials 10 times over, played about 400 online matches with her, and i cannot consistently pull this move off on my fightpad. if it was two kicks and down i could do it, but heavy kick into down two punches then back to kick wont come out for me the majority of the times i try to do it really annoying because i love her moveset outside of that
just slow down the input for the kick follow up. if you do it too fast, you will cancel into the stance but the kicks won't come out and the combo will drop. it's easy with some practice, just start slow and do the inputs cleanly but slowly. even if the combo drops, it's a frametrap anyway so it's not that big of a deal. after you can do the inputs consistently at a slow speed, then speed up until the hits link with each other. the important part is to keep it consistent.

Even in that patchversion of her u missed a lot and gave bad advices but ye thats just u

I'm commenting to support making guides like this. Amazing stuff

This is the best guide I've ever seen for a fighting game character. Thank you for putting this together.
Main use I have for the fireball followup is a combo ender when you want to send them far away and get a little more damage.
in nemo's guide he mentioned that fireball into follow-up is good for stopping drive rush
@@DDBT-nk7lq you use the fireball preemptively the same way you would use a poke to stop drive rush. the followup gives you a knockdown. if someone is doing drive rush into DI you already won lol. that's wack and a complete waste of meter.

Appreciate the video. I haven't gotten to play for a few weeks, but I'm about to jump back in with AKI.
In fireball wars, especially in the mirror, you can explode it before it connects and hit them when it would normally just trade w their fireball
Standing LK needs more love. LK, QCB+LP, F+LP is one of my favorite combos and it looks cool.
Very concise guide and a fantastic starting point for this character. Thanks dude! I need to keep an eye on your streams schedule.

You got me straight to Diamond with your Kimberly tutorial, Looking to make the AKI jump in S2. I’m so bad starting the round with AKI though.
Diaphone, you are an fgc GOAT
Can't wait to see you win a tournament with AKI
Diaphone always pumping out quality content like this is always crazy to me
Your guides are really good, thanks for the break downs. You can basically get to master if you get all these concepts down in your gameplay.

Dakiphone roles better of the tongue though.

Dope guide as always man, been trying to incorporate a lot of your stuff into my play.

Awesome guide. Well done!
Thank you Diaphone to bring hope to us aki players in those dark times 🐍😊
Thanks for the guide. I wanna get better at SF6 and I have a lot pf trouble playing against players here in Puerto Rico (Especially Mono and Ajax)
Hey. Diaphone. Good job man! 😊
Love your guides!
The snake step oki after h-lash does do much work in sets!

Even though her jump d.hp always swaps sides, it doesn't necessarily have to cross up, there's definitely some mixup potential with it
“I’m not sure where to shart- start”
All jokes aside this video in amazing
Thank you
Best tutorial ever
Snake Step is honestly there to dodge projectiles. If you time it right.
I think I like it better if the gameplan or strategy to be at the beginning part of the video, for me to care about the normals and specials later on in my opinion. Still, thank you for the guide.
Amazing content.

Nice intro!
Fireball followup hits twice, so it can beat some of Giefs armored moves
Hey i appreciate the guide.
That always counter combo does work. It doesn't combo at all. It stays at 4 hits
we making it out of plat with this one
goat thank you!
@Diaphone Is there any way to end the coner combo with the comand grab?
thanks bro
I have watched this like 10. I think I am just too dumb to play and understand her. She was the only reason I even gave sf6 a look.
OKI 27:30
I may not understand shimmy properly but when I set dummy to wake up throw after I heavy lash it always grabs me if I do the qcf mk, walk back.
i would enjoy it if you were to do a 101 on jp one day pls and thank u

I noticed in your normals breakdown you don't talk about j.HK -- do you have any feedback about it?

I'll be honest, when the EX Lash hit I hold parry and mash forward like a maniac. It works
@@khdo12346 I figured out the timing. It's kind of bizarre, but I've got it down pat without mashing.

Modern AKI doesn't really lose much. You could try her on that.
Maybe you could use one of the left shoulder buttons. That's what I do: 3 punches on one and 3 kicks on the other.
