80k subscribers now! You deserve it Rik .. since I found your channel, I watch it every day. I'm in Tasmania, and winter isn't far away, so I'll be doing most of your traditional British recipes over the next few months.
Thank you. Best, Rik
Man. That looked magnificent. You made my mouth water Rik. 🤤🤤

Another winner! I make the stew, lamb or beef and my sister makes the soda bread.. a great combo.. we are from Scottish, Irish and English heritage but Aussie thru n thru! Thanks Rik. 🦘
Thank you. Best, Rik
Everything this man makes is top notch!
Home cooked that everyone can make, lets keep it simple. Thank you. Best, Rik
I'm watching all of your previous videos! You are such a brilliant teacher so I want to learn and get this..... I never knew that with stew the meat was different depending on the Country...... So if lamb is Irish and beef is British then that is why us scousers use lamb and beef in our stew! Mind! Blown!
Thank you. I apologies for some of the really old videos when I started. I was told to put music on and say different thing - all tosh! I've moved on from there. Nothing wrong with the recipes. Best, Rik
I like the way you gulped the ale. Definitely must try the Irish stew recipe on March 17th 🍀
Thank you. Best, Rik
That soda bread looks amazing. The only soda bread I’ve ever had was crumbly like a cake… yours looks like real bread. I will have to try that next time I make stew.
Thank you. Best, Rik
Nice one Rik the no salt tip on the meat at the start is a real winner here (Proper Chef's skills !!)
OMG Rik, I love watching you enjoying/eating your beautiful creations! Irish Stew looks absolutely devine. Just watched you making an Aussie pie floater with vegemite, floating in mushy peas, with ketchup/tomatoe sauce, I have never had one, they originated in Adelaide, unfortunately I live in Melbourne!! Take care, Debra from Downunder
Thank you. Love to Downunder. Best, Rik

Hi Rik, Paul again from Hua Hin. Great video and will be trying it, but can I ask where you got the slab of lamb? I know Villa market probably do it but costs a fortune. Been looking for lamb to make doner kebab but not that common around here. Cheers.
Hey mate - Makro, Lamb shoulder, frozen Aus or NZ about 420 bht I think. Makro have stock coming in now more regular - I have a cracker of a recipe coming up if I can get hold of some lamb. From a chef mate of mine in Australia. Paul as far as the dinner meat goes search my channel for dinner in a tin - here it is ua-cam.com/video/fY8d5IB0RAc/v-deo.html great recipe made with lamb mince change to your taste - its a good one. Makro have 500g fozen mince in too. Best, Rik
@@BackyardChef Cheers, Rik. Will do!
I wonder if this will work with pork shoulder in place of the lamb.
Yes indeed! Thank you. Best, Rik
Im hungry new
I'm stuffed. Best, Rik
Another one of my favourite foods, the only way I will eat lamb. how would I do that in the instapot please as in timing?

Hi Rick, what do you use for shortening, what brands are there?

Hi Rik, I missed this one, will put this one to the test:-) where are you buying that lovely lamb from?
Makro Hang Dong mate. Best, Rik
Rik can wholemeal bread flour be added to soda bread or is it better to go with wholemeal plain My hysapientia is great thanks
Yes indeed! Thank you. Best, Rik
Do you ever save the veg trimming for stock?? It seems like a waste
This is a video on cooking Stew. I can't hold the hand of everyone for everything. Thank you. Best, Rik
Is this shoulder
Yes it is. I say that in the video if it helps. Best, Rik
I just wish i could find lamb anywhere, that doesn't cost as much as lobster. Live in Texas, lets just say been here many years, the food here has a lot to be desired. Especially the meat quality. The beef sucks.
Wow, I thought the meat would be great there - just goes to show. Best, Rik
@@BackyardChef The best beef in America comes from the state of Idaho, grass fed, just the absolute best. I have eaten all over this country and Canada, and nothing compares to Idaho grass fed beef.
Can only afford chicken thighs or drum sticks😂
Use what you can afford and no worries - chicken works great mate. Best, Rik
They make a great stew, lots of goodness from the bones in stews or soups... Yum!
I looked at lamb and sadly out of my price range. Beef isn’t much better unless it’s ground. I look at the discounted section these days but it’s mostly chicken and fish for me. I will try this with chicken bet it would be amazing.
Irish stew was made for a large poor family, very little lamb ( maybe I cheap mutton chop for flavour) lots of potatoes and whatever veggies you had, make a lot of gravy. From a 80 year (one of eight children )from an Irish family. Oops forgot the bread with butter for the sauce.
