Thanks very much. I opbtained my pinch bolts direct from Ford dealership. For the life of me I cant find the part number but they should have it on their system if you give them a call.
Thanks so much David! That means a lot! That pinch bolt is a right pain but prying the pinched part open slightly before giving the end of the bolt a good whack and plenty of penetrating fluid is definitely the way to go! 👍
I did this yesterday. I found it quite tricky, for me getting the pin of the ball joint out/in wasn't the most difficult part, of the three points it connects, the part toward the front of the car refused to come out without a real fight. Fortunately I had a pry bar, some other similar tools and a hammer, but it took a lot of effort. The problem is once you start undoing everything, everything starts moving about, and you have to think about making sure you are not forcing stuff at odd angles, and the wheel hub gets in your way. I took the disc of to do it, as I found that gave me more space to work. Even getting the new part in, you have to do it at the exact correct angle and you need to move the wheel hub around so you got space. I am FAR from a mechanic, but I have been DIYing various things for a while, and I would say just have a good think about whether you want to tackle this or not first, because I found it quite a challenge. If you do give it a go, make sure you have a prybar, maybe even a few different size ones, as it can be quite physically tough to do. Great video though, so thank you.
Totally agree. Whole arm going to Landfill when its just the ball joint. What a pig that is to release from the hub too. The pinch bolt essentially becomes part of the car!
Great video buddy cheers! Have you got a link for the pinch bolts please 👍🏻

@ cheers I will call them tomorrow as everywhere I look I’m drawing a blank! Even Febi don’t do them 😳
Probably thee best video I have seen on this, an honest video of a nightmare bolt to remove. Brilliant stuff 👍

Id love to see how to change the main air con pipe. The one attatched to the compressor that runs to the firewall attatchment and the condensor.
Legit
Nice job
15mm
Thanks man! I’m glad you liked it. I cover a few Mk7 jobs as they come up on the channel 👍
Front bolt is 103nm then 180degrees not 65nm
Your MOT says offside ball joint, but you're replacing the nearside x)
Incorrect. The Nearside failed the MOT. I replaced that. The Offside was a monitor and replace as necessary.
It’s so much waste that they don’t give you just the ball joint to replace . the Peugeot is the same and I had to replace the whole lot

3:45 you've just sprayed oil onto the brake disc.... That's not good.
Everything was cleaned with brake cleaner.
