You're welcome 😊.. your an excellent instructor for board repair and modern hardware repair an refurbish after spending your money on a product it's no body's business what you do with your poession other than you.. you should be allowed to repair rebuild and refurbish anything you possess possession is 9 tenths of the law... I repair refurbish certain game consoles and computers of sentimental meaning to me... I only mod consoles that are about to go out of production.. and use to download the library after production and publishing has ceased...

quick question- when you applied the probe in DC voltage on the multimeter it gave like 12.44 volts and counting like you said but when you did the diode mode it said .44 volts so how do you know the vtop from that .44v I did not understand I kinda lost you there. Do you have to have a good board to compare that diode reading to?
    Thanks

Where is the love icon for this whole series? Forget thumbs up. I've been piddling with electronics repair, self taught, for years and watched probably hundreds of vids to decipher anything that would get to the essence of electronics repair. I picked up a little bit here and there watching hundreds of hours of videos and reading but that's about it. This series is what I wanted. When I finally heard you mention it in one of your videos thankfully, I immediately clicked the playlist and started watching. Unbelievably succinct. Alleviating the rabbit trails that have nothing to do with actual repair was the red pill I have been searching for . You deserve a medal. Thank you Louis. My next step will be finding schematics for Paul's Board View software and learning the ins-and-outs of that and whether it will be beneficial for me. You seem to have a passion for imparting truth, not just with regard to electronics, that is surely unrelated to mere monetization. Having said that, I will definitely be contributing monetarily with heartfelt thanks. I'm going to place this comment on several of the videos in this playlist because I believe that there are many people like me who need this information presented in this fashion and would hate for someone to miss it. Bless you Louis!

Louis, I hope you can help me. I have a three year old Overpowered OP-LP3 Laptop. Recently the glue holding the display on failed and the display tilted down applying pressure to the connector. Not wanting to work on it myself I brought it to a shop that reinserted the connector but the display would not light up. The repairman opened up the computer and found burnt components on the motherboard. Problem is we can't find a schematic for this machine in order to identify the failed parts. Do you have any idea with to find a schematic for this Overpowered OP-LP3 Laptop? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. It's a beautiful machine and I really need to get it working. Thank you in advance.

My goal is to identify the functions of the devices in a given circuit diagram?
    Or spoken more general.
How can I lean this general skill?
When do I see a random circuit diagram that I can recognize the devices and their functions?
What is the best strategy to acquire this skill?
Do you know good information recourses specially designated to acquire this skill?
I do not want to handcraft things on my own and I do not want to study at a university to acquire a bachelor's degree in electrotechnology.
I just want to be able to read more or less the circuit diagram.

I have question about a schematic I'm trying to understand. When I look at the logic board of a macbook air there are some spots where there aren't any resistors or capacitors soldered, but when I look at the board view and check the schematic there is a suppose to be a resistor or cap there. This is on several spots and I don't think anyone has worked on this board before. The question is, how much can I thrust a schematic? Because on this particular one there are lines like this "Intel investigating whether RC is sufficient", this looks like this is not the final version of this particular schematic.
    Your thoughts on this please.

are you sure you have the right one. and are you sure you are reading it right. it's normal to have points on a motherboard where you'd think a component should be. but then there is nothing there.

Very nice video. Thanks. A question for you: One of the problems I have reading schematics is that I sometimes can't see clearly what is coming in to a component/circuit/chip etc. and what is going out. Some lines will have an equals sign, some will have an 'In' or 'Out' label and some will have nothing. Any ideas to help clear this up? Thanks.

Think your videos rock. Learning a lot. I run a recycling service and have loads of laptops that I usually have to junk out. Can do some basic repairs like usb ports, dc jacks ..etc light stuff. Just order the microscope you suggested (the cheap one) and am going to try to learn some new skills. Thanks for the videos. Not sure who to message you off the public channel but was kinda wanting to get some pricing. Mostly for the mac stuff, not sure the other stuff has enough resale value to justify the cost of sending the boards out for repair. will try to figure out how to private message you. but back to me working on them, have a couple quick question. where do you get the schematics and eagle viewer files for the boards. also do you stock all the parts (seem like it would be costly to stock most of it) order as you go.
Thanks so much, these videos are awsome.

I understood the basic components and semiconductors... I refurbished my own neogeo MVS hardware and had 13 or 14 pages of wtf is this and how do I test it... it's also when I developed chronic migraine headache syndrome from bashing my head through an old-fashioned plaster wall pre sheet rock aka dry wall... lucky the NeoGeo arcade community is extremely friendly to those in need of help and was mentored me.. if I had a quarter on me I would spend it on the neogeo machine.. and remain standing there semitranced for 30 to 45 minutes... then take a long overdue whiz... I was never able to afford the neo get AES home console at $650.00usd.. and game cartridges at +$300.00usd each granted the cd console was half the price but a 1x or 2x cd-rom drive took 30 to 45 minutes for a game to load...
I had anti violence anti blood and gore parents searching my floppy discs and hdd for doom wolfenstine3d .. they even think the classic dos shareware game Scorched Earth was too violent... because your trying to nuke an enemy trying to nuke you.. good old 80's cold War game addictive game too..
