  • Did a little jetty surf fishing in Ft Pierce Florida and I tried targeting Jack Crevalle with heavier surf gear to no avail but luckily got on a nice little light tackle smorgasbord bite catching a decent Snook, little Jack Crevalle, and a nice size Mutton Snapper on the Fishaholic Shad!

Nice job man, that jetty is really heavily fished, so no surprise there. This time of year the snook have transitioned from their summertime spawning areas offshore, back to the rivers and flats. Your best bet is to find some flats near deeper water, or structure in the rivers. Snook will usually run for deeper water during cold snaps like we're having now, so they're never too far away. Keep up the good work dude!

when your stuck on something try to angle yourself right towards it, pull your pole back to gain tension and than flip the lever to release your string that sometimes sends it back and gets it unstuck. nice video

Great camera angle Rich, you can really see how you work the plug & shad, tempo, twitches to the rod etc. Bonus watching you catch fish AND show some tips and tricks on how you work the lures.

You need to hit the Jetty Lounge drive thru and get one of their rum runners to go. Classic! You should do a dive video in the inlet where you lost the lures along with everyone else and restock your supply.

I lived near there for years, it’s a very hit or miss spot and only the bottom at Sebastian inlet matches how annoying it can be but there are massive fish in there. They are there but it is heavily fished and they’re wise to it. You actually did quite well.

I've been to fort pierce inlet before. Not a place for the kayak. Current gets to be 5knt. Almost got sucked out into high surf but a boat rescued me. Night time jig fishing for snook with nighthawks jigs is another way the locals do it. I tryed it. But, I didn't bottom structure or contour. So, I just kept getting stuck. If i had to do it again I would hire a guide to teach me to jigg, if there is such a thing as a shore guide there.

early in the day I believe water is too cold for most fish and you should slow down . it looked like a rocket . I believe in general when it is wavy and windy the fish can not hear as well because of all the waves and they move down to stay in calmer water so top float or top water is not a good choice . There is always exceptions because I had a shark attack my bait when it way 5 inches above water so it is possible to catch fish without having your bait touch the water lol .

Those rocks is unforgiving on lures The bite-frenzy pops off at dawn on feathers for snook. Mid day is mostly bait. I use a 1/8oz crappie jig at the very end of rocks and catch everything from lookdowns to muttons. Something to do when its slow.

I met local that did that. He was catching snook on them at the dock lights. Would loose most because of "crappie hook" but, if you where to tye your own with better hooks I bet success would be better.
