Carnage: “You’re Power’s not like a Symbiote. What are you?” Alex Mercer: “I’m just a man with a virus, and I consumed a lot than you can ever imagine.”
Here's some VS Match ideas for you, I tried to pick more grounded opponents since that seems to be your specialty: Fulgore (killer instinct) vs T-800 Terminator (equal stats) Vandal Savage (DC) vs Ultimate Kars (JoJo) King Bradley (FMAB) vs Frank Horrigan (Fallout 2) That ones a little odd yeah, but they have alot in common. Both are the best bioweapons their factions have, both take a direct/ruthless approach to combat not wanting to drag fights out, both care deeply for their country to the point of extremism, and both demand respect from those deemed lesser, they're also both loyal pawns to a fault.
I’ll give Alex credit and say that with equalised speed, he could probably beat a lot of show versions of Carnage and the movie version of the symbiote would be an interesting debate that I can see the virus taking since he can potentially rip Cletus out of the alien. With all of his stats equalised against early comics Carnage, Mercer may even put up a decent fight, but it’s one he would still ultimately lose. Overall, Alex was basically fighting a more skilled and amped version of himself that he couldn’t catch off guard and is insanely unpredictable and would be reduced to a punching bag for Carnage. Actually… Cletus and his symbiote would probably enjoy having a victim that they can tear apart and torture at their leisure due to the Virus’ ability to heal.
You can get the stat gap even wider with carnage if you consider that venom while incredibly weakened can hold up a 300 ton ferris wheel and has fought the thing
7:53 Definitely would disagree there. If Alex couldn't "resist damage any more than a normal human" then tank rounds and missiles would have blown him to pieces, but clearly don't. We also see him actually get impaled by the Supreme Hunter's devastators, while the same isn't said for tank rounds and missiles. Also keep in mind that Alex was in disguise when he took a bullet through the head, so likely changed his density, meaning his durability changed as well. I'll take this opportunity to upscale Alex Mercer, even though an average-scaled Carnage wipes the floor with him. I'd put the destroyed tank at 50 tons in weight on its own, but the key there is the throwing part, and that it's one handed. Throwing something takes a massive amount more effort than simply lifting it, which I'd be willing to make into an easy 5x multiplier. The distance the tank was thrown probably makes the multiplier even higher, but even ignoring that, and it being with one hand, that could put Alex Mercer at over 200 tons of strength. While not seen very explicitly, and only stated once, it was stated by one of Alex Mercer's Evolved agents that he could control Whitelight, the intended cure for Blacklight which then got tainted by Alex Mercer's blood, on the molecular level, presumably from a distance as well, which is an interesting one. While Carnage attacking at atoms is impressive, I'd still give Alex Mercer credit where it's due. Even if that were ignored, him changing his genetics is sort of below the cellular level, and incredibly fast acting as well, so he'd at least have a decent amount of molecular control as well. While Carnage does have superior technological takeover abilities, we do at least see Alex Mercer's biomass be able to shape shift in a way that allows him to use technology like walkie-talkies, and in Prototype 2 we do see James Heller being able to shape-shift into GenTek scientists with masks which could filter out poisonous gases from the air, which then presumably applies to Alex Mercer as well, although admittedly that didn't work with Bloodtox in the first game. I think their skills in combat are both not shown off very well because they're simply so strong, and brutal, that they don't ever really need to. The only time Alex Mercer seemed to show much explicit skill in his combat abilities was when fighting James Heller, and during the boss fight he'd consistently overpower and outmatch James Heller when using the same ability. We do hear in Alex Mercer's end of game speech that he sees a thousand dead men screaming as he took their lives, so he might have at least hundreds of years of experience through them. But Carnage still edges him out big time due to symbiote memory, and the different characters that have been. When it comes to healing factors, I can imagine Carnage does have a slight edge, but it really depends. Alex Mercer would still have to be "alive" if he was consuming that crow, and we see the Supreme Hunter regenerate from a puddle, who Alex defeated twice, so being able to regenerate from small parts isn't too big of an outlier in Prototype. Also keep in mind that regenerating from a crow means he has either the ability to practically generate matter in the form of biomass, or is so ridiculously dense that he could reform into a human from such a small portion of himself, or maybe the highly speculative pocket dimension that just stores biomass. With the Carnage symbiote on, Carnage probably has a better healing factor, but we do see that his human form can still be made vulnerable when separating the symbiote from it, both with typical symbiote weaknesses, and through tearing it off, and I can imagine someone like Alex Mercer could operate on the correct level to do something like that. While scaling Carnage high should make him impervious to those things, they still seem to miraculously work somehow, even though characters faster than sound should outrun sound waves, or counterproductively create sonic booms that then act as sonic attacks against themselves. I think narratively, they'd be around the same, since they do share a lot in common, with Prototype basically just being a Carnage simulator with an original backstory and story writers not always realizing just how powerful they've made their characters, as well as nerfing them and buffing them for the sake of the story. Using scaling, Carnage kills Alex Mercer without difficulty. I used to think Alex Mercer barely edged out on Carnage, but I'd say I'm fairly open to new information, and this clearly shows that Carnage wins. Although I'd personally say from a narrative, or intentionality stand point, Carnage isn't actually so far beyond Alex Mercer that he couldn't harm him, excluding cases where Carnage is clearly buffed beyond normal.
Also, forgot to mention speed. I'd personally put Alex at roughly speed of sound level if I wanted to highball him, since he is basically as fast as Elizabeth Greene's shockwave attack, which should be at the speed of sound as a shockwave. Also a possible massive upscale to be made there is that James Heller's shields, which he shape shifts on the spot, are able to deflect tank rounds straight back at tanks, at the same speed they came at, who Alex Mercer should scale directly to, putting them at easily hypersonic speeds with their weapons. Then apply that to leg movements as well, and you'd potentially have a much faster version of Alex Mercer.
@@itsyaboidaniel2919 actually after finding out a few things about carnage and how he works separating him from his host his host is actually pretty much impossible he’s naturally bonded to his hosts blood allowing him to come back from pretty much anything he can even regenerate from a drop of blood this is also what makes separation impossible as carnage can reform himself again inside of his hosts blood and even if they did separate you’d still need fire to kill a symbiote but carnage is more resistant to fire compared to the other symbiotes
@@-XTQVH Very late response from me, since I wasn't notified. I think symbiotes in general can leave traces of themselves behind in host blood, like how Venom's remnants became Anti-Venom, but their main bodies can be removed by force, and leave the host vulnerable.
At the very least, I think Carnage would have fun with Alex. A punching bag he can tear apart and have it come back? He'd love that! If it wasnt equal stats, I could even see him kidnapping Alex and keeping him as a stress toy
7:07, It should at least be noted that Alex at this point wasn’t intent on killing everyone he saw and was looking for candidates to infect and bestow his abilities to. If he’d wanted to kill Heller outright, he could have likely done so without any resistance (especially with how easily Alex subdued him moments later) unless of course he was allowing Heller to land strikes on him to see how capable he was.
Would be more interesting to see, when the comics made Carnage so insanely powerful that mercer could not defeat him anymore, I mean in the beginning he wasn't meant to be this powerful.
A bit unfair putting someone with only 2 games and a few comic book issues against a character who had undergone a great deal of crazy feats via the numerous characters in his verse, dont'cha think?
Hm, considering how powerful Carnage was shown here, why not have him go up against a more powerful opponent, like say Grimmjow from Bleach? Right off the bat, I think speed might need to be equalized, cause I think Bleach characters might have speed over Carnage.
When I originally did this matchup I didn't know just how strong Carnage was. Not to mention the newer comics that make him an avengers level threat like Absolute Carnage weren't out yet. The Remake is just because the original no longer meets my standards for quality.
why didn't make this more fair by using carnage from the venom movie? no hate just curious. also I have a idea for a fight grimlock vs zilla or Sauron vs ainz (LOTR vs OVERLORD) its not a stomp. love the vids hope you make it to 2k
Mainly because this is a remake, if I changed Carnage out for a weaker version it would make this a different match up. Though I will say Mercer would probably beat that version of carnage unless there's something I'm not remembering from the movie.

Judging from the Comments i already know who this Video made Win. So I'mma give my 2 cents. As both a Marvel/DC and Prototype Fan, from the get go, and depending on which version of carnage would be used (An example being Knull God of Symbiotes Carnage fused with Grendel.) Carnage would get Strength, Speed, Durability and Reflexes/Agility. But, Given Prep Time, and unlike Batman or Iron Man, Alex Mercer would win against Carnage for 2-3 things, first... Kletus Kassidy is nothing more than a Psychopathic Serial Killer. Without Carnage Kletus is Nothing but a Normal Average dude, and there's been many times where Carnage has been removed from Kletus or him being defeated by beings weaker than for example Alex Mercer, through exploiting Kletus and Carnage's Narcissism and Overconfidence. Heck, Carnage could instead completely detach itself from Kletus and instead merge with Mercer, giving Mercer the Win instantly. 😂 And i see a strong possibility of that happening as Carnage isnt very Loyal to Kletus. Alex Mercer is a GENIUS, Kletus is nothing without the Symbiote. For 2, Alex can get stronger both Canonically with the 2 Games, Comics and the Devs statements, like Anime Levels strong, though of course, the same goes for Carnage. The 3rd, Alex is Immortal, the REAL Alex is dead, what you see as Alex Mercer is just the Virus Masquerading as him, so unless Carnage has a Cure for The Blacklight Virus, no matter how many times Carnage kills Alex, Alex will just come back, heck...Alex could escape his grasp through the different vectors of spreading for a Virus, Water, Blood, Air etc, and if ever Alex escapes their first Matchup which clearly(Kinda.) Alex will lose, Alex wont make the same mistakes again. Id say Mercer will do a Muzan and go into hiding until hes strong enough to defeat Carnage, and let me tell you...He will, especially since he now has access to the Marvel Universe. Heck, i wouldn't put it past Mercer to do a Team Up with other's that would help him achieve the Goal of taking down Carnage. Something about Carnage is, he's a loose cannon, driven only by his primal desire to kill, he's most likely to kill everyone he comes across than to team up with anyone. So seeing Mercer team up with The Fantastic 4, Spiderman, Shield and Venom/Anti-Venom to take down Carnage is a win for Mercer. 😂 Though Carnage does also have Hax, like his Super Danger Sense. But Alex Mercer also has similar abilities.
