Man I miss this Big 12. I grew up in Kansas City, MO, but loved weather and eastern Oklahoma so I rooted for OU. There was so much talk between my family and friends. The rivalry between Mizzou, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas was next level. I was so disappointed when Colorado, Nebraska, and Mizzou left. The Big 12 hasn't been the same since. These were the "good ol' days" and we didn't even realize it. Texas really screwed this conference.

"L" column and the timing of that "L" were crucial. Also, remember "style points"? It was a rough time for the little colleges.

Why they ever put Missouri at number 1. I'll never know. OU had already beaten them convincingly the week after a tough game with Texas, who was also better than Missouri just didn't play them. This was probably the only time I would ever go into a game against a number 1. team not only sure we'd win but sure we'd win big, and we did.
