I'm a little upset with the writers of this show. They should have kept this man as Blanche's man till the end of the season. When she says "like a lady" at the end, I get tears in my eyes. I love the fact that he treated her like the great lady she was. I thought they made an awesome couple.
I read that this episode was actually written to be closer to the end of the last season in order to send Blanche's love life off on a really hopeful note, but due to rewrites and scheduling it got pushed more towards the beginning of it. Which meant that saw her resorting to her vixen ways again before the show was done.
I loved this episode I actually cried because for that moment Blanche was treated like a person instead of a sex object Man when you get somebody who treats you like a lady...it’s something magical
Ugh he was so right, even today, romance is wonderful. The sexiest and most mind blowing thing that my husband of nineteen years (twenty one together total) is to look at me, touch my cheek and then kiss me. That makes my insides melt ten times faster than anything else. I'm lucky though, he still does that every day. These girls of today are missing out on something so amazing. It's true, anyone can go to bed together, it's barely even intimate any more, but romance, true slow romance, wins every time.
I was always upset that the writers didn’t keep Jerry as Blanche’s beau until the end of the show. She had been through a LOT in her romantic life, and it was terrific seeing her with a man who reminded her what real romance was actually like
I watched this episode last night and I cried. It's so cheesy but I felt for Blanche in this moment. Since George passed she had bounced from man to man, trying to fill the void. She put on a sultry front but deep down in her heart she just wanted companionship again, and Jerry was that companionship. It really touched me. She seemed like she had finally felt truly happy for the first time in a long time.
I've always loved this scene. After all the years without George, I think Blanche finally found out again, how a real gentleman treats a lady. It's a shame they didn't keep Jerry's character on...
This is one of the reasons that I love this show...the characters had their own very different personalities for the show to work as a comedy but scenes like this not only showed their more vulnerable sides but also beautiful acting. Just the best.
It is at these kinds of moments in the show--when Blanche is made to feel so vulnerable--that Rue McClanahan's brilliance as an actor surfaces to a breathtaking degree. "Like a lady" is a spectacular line to end the scene.
Love Ken Howard and his character.Every man should be respectful and treat women like a lady.Romance is beautiful and just as important as sexual intimacy.
There is more than just one aspect that makes this scene so beautiful. Not just how wonderful and meaningful such a romance really is. And like Jerry said "why have so many people abandoned it." But there is also the aspect of second chances. One of the first thoughts I had when I saw this for the first time on TV was that Blanche probably hasn't been loved and respected in that way since her husband George passed away. She probably never thought she would have that again, and there it was. When she least expected it. Grief, loss, and loneliness do not have to be permanent. You do not know what wonderful things may be awaiting you around the corner, which is why we all need to keep going even when we don't want to, and when we don't think we have the strength to carry on any further because the road ahead seems too dark. These are the kinds of messages that seem to be lacking today. Maybe if we had more of them, there would be fewer deaths of despair, and therefore fewer people leaving us before their time, and before their own second chance at life.
This is beautiful on so many levels I wish I could find a woman, to treat her like this I like to imagine her, wrapped in silk and lace, walking along the river bank She smiles, then I smile I offer her my arm We walk, and she talks of things, and I talk of things Then I lead her up the steps to her house, look at her, beautifully lit by lamp light And I bid her good night and leave Because the image of her, in silk and lace, lit by lamps with a smile upon her face is the one memory I would wish to keep from now until the end of my days
is it odd as a gay man who got tears when the piano started playing as the guy caresses blanches face?.. what wonderful romantic scene I've ever seen. may i know the title of piano piece?? that is so calming, relaxing, soothing and romantic. "Like a lady" blanches delivers it perfectly.
Same with me. I think it speaks to how the gay romance scene is at the moment. It’s much like blanches sex life, hookups with lots of guys and always quick paced. But when Blanche gets that true romance, slow and thoughtful, and tender, it’s what we hope for. That maybe one day our romance can be just like that. Loving touches and kisses that make us feel like the world
I once had a romantic man like that into my life, nobody understood why i fell so hard for him... but the truth is he gave me something no man has ever given me; Time, Attention, Space.. and when it was our first time, it was like magic... like christmas lights being lighten up for the first time. I never settled for less after him.. and i dont think i ever will❤️😢
This is the best 3 minutes of the entire series (in my opinion). The music, the words, the acting, the body language...enough to make you cry...and it did.
Well you are all a lady and you deserve love , care and happiness . This show has a strong message in every scene , and I believe people nowadays has lost a lot things that called love and romance .
Tbh it should’ve ended with Blanche getting married. As it would be a beautiful send off as it’s how the show started with Blanche not getting married to her getting married again but this time a success
Very touching scene. Hearing Blanche say "...Like a lady." got me. It reminds me of a somewhat similar scene on a MARY TYLER MOORE episode when office flirt Sue Ellen (coincidently enough, Betty White) finally went on a date with Lou (Ed Asner) and shamelessly kept throwing herself at him. Lou kindly told her how much better than that she was and she was prize worth winning. 🌹🎬📺
And that, my friends, is what a sexy kiss looks like. Not abrupt, not fast, not jumping in bed, (I know, it's a quote), but soft, gentle, slow - as if inviting the world to stop spinning for a moment.
The way it should be. Its a very different ferling when there is romance and treated with respect. When sex isnt pressured and felt like a duty or requirement. People today have no clue what they're doing, let alone missing.
Rusty Armendariz If google music search is correct, and after I had it search that tune five times, it keeps reporting that its from The Andy Ezrin Trio, but Im not able to find the song on youtube among some which are posted. And no luck finding him on Amazon in digital music search. If this message reaches you, and if you're able to have better luck, please share the information, as I too love that. thank you.
Rue McClanahan played one of the most complex characters of all time. I miss her, but I am grateful both to her and the fact that her wonderful performances are still available to this day.
I know I'm in the minority here, but I would have told Jerry to go pound salt. Blanche shouldn't have to change and become demure to suit his taste. This episode aired toward the end of the series run after they'd already made it clear that Blanche made no apologies for being sexually aggressive and lived life on her terms. And I thought the tinkling piano was schmaltzy. Blecch.
sexonnaplatter yes, but I think that, not since she lost her husband has Balance felt the stirrings of shan't it truly felt like to be a "lady" This is important so not only we could see people like this still exist, but for her to know that that kind of love and respect is still out there for her
sexonnaplatter I understand your point there, but I don't believe that's what we're seeing here. I don't think the point was that Blanche was changing her ways in order to make this work; I believe what we're supposed to gather is that she realizes that she genuinely finds everything he's talking about appealing, and she's willing to try something new because she believes this could be an opportunity for something really special.
I used to be like Blanche. I settled for men that just wanted me for sex, no romance. So when I met my husband, I thought it would be the same. He didnt ask me to change, he didnt expect that. What he did, was to show me respect, showed me affection and love and went slowly. To have a man want me for me first and to let the physicality come later, it made me feel valued, precious and as Blanche said, like a lady. There is no feeling like going from being seen as a piece of meat, to being seen as so much more. If you have never been seen as both, treated both ways, then I'm sorry, but you simply won't understand.
I'm a little upset with the writers of this show. They should have kept this man as Blanche's man till the end of the season. When she says "like a lady" at the end, I get tears in my eyes. I love the fact that he treated her like the great lady she was. I thought they made an awesome couple.

Kirk LaCombe nope it was more funny Dorothy was single & found love
Kirk LaCombe me too I teared up when she said that.
100% agree, and always have..
It warms my heart every time...
Rose's presence is so comforting...Blanche probably hasn't felt like a lady since George passed away.
I like Rose in this scene - it really plays into her character having worked at a counseling center for years. Instinctive, and activity listening
@@stephenl6758 and still naive and enjoy the moment
I remember thinking the exact same thing when I first saw this episode way back in the day.
That was a beautiful touching scene. The way Blanche says "Like a lady." and then walks off, good stuff.
This is such a precious scene and Rue looks like a beautiful lady indeed.
I feel like for me the writers finally let Blanche be completely vulnerable with no guard up!!! Did anyone else tear up watching this scene?
Me
Dauner Luna me too
Me !
I’m glad I’m not the only one that cries watching “Golden Girls”!!! ☺️☺️☺️
This scene always makes me tear up. Seeing Blanche at a truer, deeper level - so vulnerable and touching
They were all wonderful, but I think Rue was the best dramatic actress on the show. She could give great, subtle performances.
One thing for sure she got to play the part that was "front and center" and I loved she got an Emmy for her performance. It was about time.
The slow music is heaven. This whole series is heaven.
Literally the best series ever produced. Nothing will ever come close.
I loved this episode
I actually cried because for that moment Blanche was treated like a person instead of a sex object

That's precious
Lucky lady aren't I. I count my blessings with my husband so so much.
Amen.Romance and tenderness is beautiful.
That's what a lot of women and men lack today. I love that you guys keep the romance in your marriage 🥰🥰
😍😍 I got teary reading this...

I love this ending so much. It's definitely one of my favorite Golden Girls moments
love the piano part...
Love the music. Simple and delicate, like this scene. Romance
I've always loved this scene.

I get teared up every time i watch this. Such a great end to Blanches character arc.
This scene always makes me cry. Listen up, guys! Romance IS EVERYTHING.

The writes really dropped the ball on this one , she should´ve married that guy on season finale .
I never thought of that. U are so right!!

Nicely written my friend!
@@gwdesignllc Thank you.
So lovely, sweet and romantic and the music was perfect!
The background makes it even more sad and romantic at the same time.

Are you real?
Wow, that is so sweet. no way that you're real. lol
So stinkin beautiful! omg ;w;
If only I could find a gentleman like you.
Wow, my heart. Guess these kind of men do exist. Just extremely rare.
So tall and romantic 😍😍😍😍. Blanche look like she was looking up at the sky when he walked up on her and kissed her. "Like a lady" ❤❤❤

"Like a lady" blanches delivers it perfectly.
It's not odd at all, trust me.

Love that scene. So touching. Time stood still
Rose was so sweet to Blanche.
Watching this in 2020. Having the exact same experience...its great to know that there is an episode for literally any occasion:)
This is the best 3 minutes of the entire series (in my opinion). The music, the words, the acting, the body language...enough to make you cry...and it did.
One of the best scenes. Very well acted. Gets me every time 😣
One of my favorite scenes!!!
Mine too. I looked for this scene for a while.
Edgardo DE LEON p

This guy's got it I'm right there with him I was raised old-school be gentle with real ladies opening the door is just the start.
This warms my heart even in the coldest of winter.
Very touching scene. Hearing Blanche say "...Like a lady." got me. The bedroom scene is hysterical! My favorite part of this episode.

such a well acted and technically produced scene.
i love that piano theme. I wish I knew what it was called & how i could find it. :/
It sounds very similar to Clint Eastwood's Changeling Theme :)
Rusty Armendariz If google music search is correct, and after I had it search that tune five times, it keeps reporting that its from The Andy Ezrin Trio, but Im not able to find the song on youtube among some which are posted. And no luck finding him on Amazon in digital music search.

I love it too
AfterTheWind-it really does sound like that beginning bit of Changeling Theme doesnt it.
I can’t find it either
❤loved the background music❤
I could watch this scene with Blanche a million times... She should have married him❤️❤️❤️
Man. U don't need a sex scene for romance!
Ahhh it's too sweet!!!
I'm not crying. You're crying.
Ahhhh the feels !
beautiful episode
I think the music is called playing love by ennio morricone
MVP 🏅
Very romantic!
I'm not hearing it in Playing Love. Wish I knew what song it was.
Weird since Playing Love was composed for the Legend of 1900 which was made in 1998.
OMG he’s like 2 feet taller than she is. He practically has to duck when he walks out the door!
Ken Howard was 6 feet 6 in his prime. One of my favorite actors.
at the end though was so beautiful
Rue McClanahan played one of the most complex characters of all time. I miss her, but I am grateful both to her and the fact that her wonderful performances are still available to this day.
Anybody know the song played it touches my heart
I wished Jerry became Blanche's only love interest!
This made me both happy and sad at the same time.
Too bad it's obsolete now. God I'd give anything to go back.
sweet and beautiful
How precious.💕
You showed a vulnerability in Blanche that was tender. Great work.
I liked him for Blanche
I forgot to say Thanks for sharing with us.
Anyone know the name of that song? It's just so beautiful. I'd love to know. Is it an original composition for the show or a song they used?
If you find out, please let me know
Oh how beautiful ! Does anyone know what episode this is? I love the music 🎶 I want the source 😇
Blanche certainly didn't mind guy's towering over her giving The fact That Blanche Is short In height
“Like a lady.” 😭
Jerry was perfect for Blanche.
Lovely romántic man, sorry Blanche didn't keep him! 🤗❤️
Does anyone know what that melody is?
The Commitments
Does anyone know the name of the piano piece playing?
I can not remember this scene ... which episode was it ?
Is it "And I love you so" by Perry Como?
💘
I really really want to know the name of this piano masterpiece :(
I really do to...love it
Oh... jerry je.....rry...jerrry...jerrrrrryyy

grow up..
