Just a thought- 16.9 strain seems to be on the higher side for an easy run! I’ve seen in my Whoop and training data nearly a direct correlation between strain and lactate levels over the past 8 months of strict testing and training in both highly controlled environments and outdoors. LT1 0.9-1.2 corresponds to 9-13 strain range. LT2 of 2.1-2.6 sits between 16-19. Also seeing same correlation in a fellow pro teammate
Thanks for the updates. My BF and I are enjoying them. Waikoloa suits you well for training. This was our favorite spot when we lived on the Big Island 🏝️
Hopefully it’s just your stress, travel and new environmental adaptation. Good things to come, stay positive, we’re all behind you… make sure you enjoy 😃
@@molochz even if that were true (it’s not) there’s no weather or surface variables which is fine for training if your running a virtual race (which is lame). It’s easy to run in the treadmill. It’s what I do when my legs are completely broken down, because …. It’s easy.
@@kinseybruno5920 It's 100% true. Multiple studies have shown it to be true. Without any doubt. I think you just think it's easier because the surface is softer. But the effort is the same regardless.
Check out the Kalahuipua'a Fishponds over on the nearby coast. SO COOL! You walk on the paths and can see moray eels and other crazy stuff just chilling in there🙌👀
Ordered some The Feed gear. I appreciate the vlogs & how the metrics are used to find areas to improve & understand your own body more. Very interesting stuff!
I started using Precision Hydration this past year using the 60/1000 mix (60g csrb 1k mg sodium) all races up to Olympic and it’s been amazing. Infinit is good but I love the preset stuff from Precision better, and it’s cheaper.
Oh man, had the same stress fracture twice now and both times started with this off feeling… (I even made the same “joke” to my wife then). Really hope it’s nothing
I'm surprised that at 00:40 Lionel, a Pro of XX years, still doesn't have a nutrition plan that works for him and is uncertain what to have during Kona 😮. Lionel I thought this year you were dotting the I's and crossing the T's, with no stone left unturned?!?! How has nutrition, arguably one of the most crucial elements of an Ironman, not been addressed and sorted sooner than 4 weeks out from the most important race in the Calendar?!?!
Hey Lionel, just wanted to wish you all the best at Kona 2024! If you could give a 32 year old male “athlete” advice on preparing for his first Ironman, what would it be? What training schedule could I follow?
In November 2011, Michael Weiss was given a two-year ban for a blood doping infringement in 2005 while competing in mountain biking. An independent commission of Austria's anti-doping agency (Nationale Anti-Doping Agentur Austria, NADA), said that it had found Weiss to be guilty of having his blood taken for enrichment at a blood lab in Vienna in 2005.
an off day after a very hard day seems wrong to me. i always do an easy day of recovery after a hard day. otherwise its like a mental and physical shock.
1: TDF riders know the benefit of NOT taking a complete day off as LS seems to have just figured out. 2: Random internet person? How does the gastric ph change with intensity of effort and why is that important? 3: Hitch in his stride? Has anyone else mentioned a potential leg length discrepancy? Did you think of it? 4: One of the best IM athletes in history? Like Craig Alexander, Peter Reid, Mark Allen, Jan Frodeno, all multiple time world champions? 5: He knows this stuff so he over trains on a hot day on a severely canted road? 6: Point out where I am incorrect. And I did not even mention his lack of swim technique. 7: And he is still 'figuring out' his nutrition...... 🙂🙂🙂🙂
Lionel should be putting up everything on Strava that would allow you (Talbot) a daily video blog/material. Lionel oneday and then the Strava data and comments the days he's off video... its 2024 everyones on Strava
1: Not sure about a day off after a hard workout? Learning something that TDF riders have known for decades, they always ride three hours on 'rest days'. 2: Long hard run in the heat on a very cambered road? Learning something you should have known. 3: Treadmill indoors. What was your core temp???? 4: Run stride. Have you looked into a leg length discrepancy? 5: Easy indoor ride looked very much like zone 2 based on your breathing, which is where 80 to 90 % of you training needs to be.
You new here ? You know how many people have made a judgement on his limp? Did he ask you for an assessment on this entire video and training, mr random non-professional triathlete in his comments.
Pretty sure lionel is not a TDF rider so he can do what he likes on his rest days, especially with sacral bone awareness, 3hrs on a trainer is just more recovery his body probably doesn't need. Let the man do what he's doing.
Eating out of a cardboard box. The Old Lion is dead tired. Fans love these videos but poor Lionel is literally killing himself. Win please and coach but this is not going to end well Im afraid.
I’m with you all the way on the daily vlog !!!!!!!
New drinking game, a shot every time Lionel says "the body". I am hammered
This is what we all needed this month!
LOVE THE DAILY VLOG!
Your theme of listening to the body is so critical to learn. You are inspiring me to do that more. Hard to always understand the bodies messages.
October will be a great month now that we have Lionel's daily vlogs!
Talbot narration 😍

Reminds me to two years ago when I was on the Big Island and your vlogs were amongst my daily highlights. Keep up the good work guys, this is awesome!

Me at Lionel using an extendable mop as a plyo bar: 💀 love this guy!
As a treadmill runner myself I agree it makes you tougher! 💪
The treadmill is 100X easier.
@@kinseybruno5920 says a cat smoking 🚬 👀
@kinseybruno5920 Studies have shown that treadmill running is not easy. It takes the exact same energy for the same pace.

I live for the Kona vlogs
Ordered some The Feed gear. I appreciate the vlogs & how the metrics are used to find areas to improve & understand your own body more. Very interesting stuff!
I also hate running on roads with lots of camber
Pumped about the VLog schedule!
Running on the curb with one foot up on parvment ,good strength workouts
Training hard is one thing and gets to the starting line healthy is another.
So pumped for this daily vlog!
Levi has a complete runner's technique.
Lionel!!!! Too much worry ! When i don’t worry…..I always do my best 👍👍.

As a total novice, I’ve had two running injuries due to road camber. It’s no joke I turn it way down whenever I hit a sideways angle now.
I'm just happy to be here :)
Can't be easy being a content creator with Lionel as a partner... But hell it is always entertaining and informative thx
Hope you start feeling better!😊
The wait is over! Was waiting for this all day. :')
Oh man, had the same stress fracture twice now and both times started with this off feeling… (I even made the same “joke” to my wife then). Really hope it’s nothing
dad strength!
Casually pulls out $1000 worth of Maurten😅
Dear god, someone get this man a good fucking coach.
Absolute privilege to have access to this content 🙏
It’s Sanders season!!!
Nice work and yah no flat roads are hard
A full month of daily Vlogs! Leading up to what we all hope is your dream race. LFG all the way. Enjoy it
Just do it 💪💪👍👍💯🔥
Lionel you should see John Ball for your Sacral tightness. I heard he’s really good!
Those cambered roads are shocking. I got a sacral stressie from running on a camber in 2 half marathons.
Hope you did lots of drills on that easy swim.
Awsome stuff 🤙🏻👏

if the camber of the road is bad on the side, maybe you can try running right down the middle...
Cheddar + sodium citrate + water = American cheese
Thoughts on this mix?
I wonder if the race will be broadcast on Outside.

I'm also 32 and training fir my first Ironman. No advise will save us, it's all about the pain cave and mental war
Talbot, bring back the recorder!!! :)
Absolutely need easy recovery work after the hard work. Motion = lotion
The Tour cyclists say the same thing about off days. They don't like them because they feel sluggish on the day back after the off days.
In November 2011, Michael Weiss was given a two-year ban for a blood doping infringement in 2005 while competing in mountain biking. LS = KONA Podium 🏊♂️ 🚴♂️ 🏃♂️ 👍🏻
What a baby!
Who let Bert publish the tentative schedule? Don't jinx it dude hahaha
Love this power couple of athlete and creator
One question Lionel, what is your day strain daily?
I would assume it’s maxed out everyday? Just curious
Smash it Lion
Yes, do a daily vlog
an off day after a very hard day seems wrong to me. i always do an easy day of recovery after a hard day. otherwise its like a mental and physical shock.
if you mentally can't do an off off day, do a long stretch instead of the workout or easy run, really stretch tho
@@xXMc1ovinXx i dont stretch. Some core work, a recovery bike ride or hiking works for me.
Everybody is different. I really need days off too. Recharging energy.
Thoughts on hiking instead of running as supplement
Never take day off after hard day. Always flush with swim and water run.
nice vlogs
Could you talk us through the stuff from the feed box a bit more please
nice
Any local tracks you can find that are flat ?
What brand is Lionel's sunglasses?
On your heart rate strap whatbis that little box in one side ?
Very good boy😂❤
Now you're in danger with blummenfelt starting long distances again
You don’t swim open water vor the race?
What if you ran one way and than went back the same way so the camber evens out
How can he NOT do bricks??? 🤯😤
Carbs is for short term gains and longterm health issues. Always trade off
Where is that pool?
Bro rest, Jesus eat clean your a pro act like one! This guy needs to hang out with navy seals for a week & get mind fullness coach
