  • Chris from Maple Street Guitars compares a Heritage Standard H-535 and an Eastman T59/V. Both of these great guitars have Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups. Which one do you like? Still prefer a Gibson 335? Let us know!

    I just purchased an Eastman T59V. It's a great guitar, and the finish on it looks great. It has a slimmer neck than the 335 or 535.

    I have the Eastman T59V and I can’t speak highly enough of it’s greatness. I’d definitely recommend folks give it a try . I think it’s the best guitar I’ve ever played . Mine has a particularly attractive mid range woody quality I love . Not too bright . Brightness can always be added from the amp but you can’t get that sonorous feel from anything but the actual guitar .I’m talking clean tones as I think all guitars sound kind of the same once you add distortion.

    I bought the Eastman T59/v after auditioning roughly a dozen 335 style guitars (Gibson mostly, a couple of Epiphones) at my three local Guitar Centers. The Eastman is superior in every way. My only gripe - and it's very minor - is that a couple of the tuners seem to occasionally "stick" - you turn them and nothing happens and then they suddenly "catch up." Otherwise, one of the best guitars I've ever experienced.

    There are certainly two different beliefs on these guitars. Without a doubt I ended up buying both of them. Unfortunately, there are some true sound differences not because of build quality or any other issue. The fact is they are different guitars more so than I would have believed I had to do a little more research into the wood and of course Lot of searching and reading historical articles, but the bottom line is is that I realize it’s very simple. The major difference in this sound of these two guitars is check the magnets in the pick ups they are truly different pick ups. How could you compare, guitars, side-by-side, and expect to equal or get the same response? If the pick ups are different semi hallows have one thing in common Eastman T 59VES 335 standard or figure ES 345 regardless heritage 535, artisan aged 535 check one thing they all have a different set of pick ups. How could you compare any of them Apple to Apple it’s impossible. This is not an accurate comparison, the heritage again And the Eastman are excellent guitars but they do provide a slightly different sound but switch those pick ups out and then re-record them again, thanks again for the demo. I would definitely check the specs on each guitar when you’re doing the comparison this is so general, it is just not fair to either guitar. They are both fantastic and both far exceeded Gibson’s ES models And tuning stability and build quality Gibson is just not the king and because they moved and because they make a lot more money certainly doesn’t make them a better guitar. You don’t have to spend $5000 to get a guitar a good guitar you can buy used heritage for 2500 and have one hell of a guitar that’s what I did and I’ve been playing guitar for 40 years and I have played on 35 different records that are in the top 40 in my lifetime so I believe I have some experience here, it is easily to get misguided even the magnet can make all the difference in the world and those pick ups. You just cannot compare apples and oranges. Thanks again. An EQ box can balance out the sound in those guitars with no problem. I’m sorry it’s just I am a full-time college professor now and not a gigging musician anymore. At least not full-time and I don’t like to see my kids waste their money, when they have not reached the point of fully understanding What the demos don’t tell these are large investments for the average person and I think they should be treated as such. I truly don’t think people much care about the young folks coming up today. We need to help them in buying their instrument help them in learning that practice is where, you establish the ability to become a good guitarist there are no shortcuts the truth is it is hard work and that’s why it pays dividends when you’re good you do not get rich off of a few licks and certainly don’t become a guitarist because of a $3000 guitar Can make $150 Strat sound like it cost $2000 and you wouldn’t know the difference only I would because of the discomfort of playing it but truly let’s help the kids man I know looking back over my life I wish I had taken more time I’m going to do that now in every video I watch and be very critical because you guys really focus on profit and not on Anything else it seems to me people have just forgotten that music is supposed to help people not empty their pockets not frustrate them, but make them happy. I thought that was all of our goals as musicians was to build our careers and pass that along for the next generation as all have before us to shame what’s happening in the music industry and in the local music stores and that’s on a national level, truly sad 6:35

      They feel different! The Eastman has wider string spacing, more akin to an acoustic, while the Heritage is closer to the traditional spec for a 335-style. One might suit one player over another.

    • @stephenmackellar5072
      @stephenmackellar5072 Рік тому +2

      Just to be exact, my T59/V is 1-23/32", which is 1/32 shy of 1-3/4". Just as MSG says, that's akin to an acoustic. Measuring the wood only--not the fret--neck depth is about 0.860" (+ maybe .010, as I have strings on at the moment) at 1st fret and same at 12th fret. Not chunky, not slim--midd'lin. This is your basic 335 profile before 1964, but wider than the 1-11/16 width.
      For the money, the Eastman can't be beaten. Astounding build quality, particularly on the hand-made binding. Mine has a flitch-matched 5A flame on all surfaces which you won't see on any of the H-535 standards. I bought mine used on Reverb for $1200 when you couldn't find any. Now you can find many new ones for $1900. Even with the insane Reverb prices lately, that's a great deal for what you're getting. H-535 is $3200 with fewer appointments.

    It is not too hard to hear the deeper, extremely Richer Sound from the Heritage. The Eastman sounds comes off as twangy with not much sustain, as most copies do.

    • @robgerety
      @robgerety Рік тому +1

      Don't' hear that. They have the exact same pick ups. My experience is with Gibson 335 and Eastman T386. Depending on how you set controls and amp, they can both be made to sound very deep and thick, or twangy, whatever you prefer.
