I'm getting a motorcycle. Guess what I'm starting to buy. Gear. I've already bought a helmet, gloves and a jacket. 4 shoes. I'm using my ankle high boots.

Ok mistanke you can add in your next video, is to fokus on the riding and correct thing before you start riding, correcting your mirrors at 120kmh on the highway is not recommended. Ride safe bro.

I'm saving up to 3k so I can have 1k for gear and 2k for a used bike. That's of course based off of my cragislist pricing.

You could get by spending less on gear. But if you want to ride aggressively then yeah, buy good gear.

    • @nicksoehren4812

Yeah I've already went on revzilla and did a cart and it totalled about 700 so not awful.

Keep an eye out for sales on bike bandit and cycle gear too. When you look for this long stuff definitely drops in price every now and then. Enjoy the road.

You do not need to spend one thousand dollars on gear.you can protect yourself for a lot less.unless your going racing or motor cross or u got big bucks like Dan must have its not realistic to spend a grand on gear.buy a good jacket,Iagree, but you can get enough jacket for 100.00.guarantee I can take a 100.00 and by jacket that will last just as long as Dan's both was getting on the ground then acts like you're going to be on the ground for two three minutes not going to happen leather jacket for a hundred bucks I'll guarantee you will protect you just as well as his will except for the armor but you can buy the armored it ain't no Grand that's a hundred bucks guarantee I can buy one for a hundred bucks boots you can buy a pair of bone cycle boots good boots hundred bucks guaranteed well that's just as long as their hands if you're crashing it's not like you people going to be doing 200 miles an hour that's a hundred for the fucking jacket 100 for the boots . The reason I say this I've been riding for for 50 years this is my 50th year I'm 65 years old I've had two crashes neither one was my fault both ways a car turning left in front of me when put me intensive care for 3 months. Now the most expensive gear in the world would not have helped me any more than my everyday gear I agree with Dan you need gear you need good gear Thiessen care but you don't need to spend $1,000 on gear the Boost the helmet at least you didn't go spend a whole lot of money on jacket if you think you need a good jacket better than an average jacket I should say . Results of my opinion Danzig jackass even riding for five lousy ass years but he knows that all he's teaching he's instructing he's running his fucking mouth about everything he's a lot more than five years that most people have in 20 his videos sometimes a joke he's he changes headlamp change the clutch put on some ugly ass aftermarket stuff.none he knows how to work on motorcycles.wronghe knows how to bolt crapon that any body can do.Ii will end my rant with this.been watching your channel for some time now.haven't been impressed .Oh hey Dan u ever turn your left blinker off yet.dumb ass.one more thing I just heard uou say some things about us older deaf and blind riders .I'm 65.you say where and when.I've got a grand that says my brothers and myself included can out ride you every way.I would humble up man.U ain't got shit for experience,5 years and now ur a expert good enough to instruct others.shut your mouth and learn.causevu don't know shit

Dan the man with the plan .. You have never allowed your self to become lost in bum-f#(k Egypt reserve light flashing and no gas stations in sight ...guess what your harley gas gauge does next ? And the format changes with big numbers constantly telling you the number of minutes you have left right before you will be walking with your bike stranded along the road somewhere in the land of the highway men with 1952 ford pickup trucks specially designed to toss a harley piglet into for a quick ride to market . As most likely when you return to your steed with a gallon of gas she's already gone! Well almoat but on fumes i spotted an old texico sign that was covered in rust that used to be about 40 foot tall but was bent in half from apoarently the last tornado that when through a 100 yeara ago and im starting to hear music from Rod Serling Twilight Zone as my harley gas gauge is now counting down the seconds to splash down the eagle has landed ...and im getting car sick head spinning i pull into this station from the tv stage of mayberry and Ottus aint their but his two green teeth cousins twice removed are and said " bout outa gas arntcha ? We dont got no high test hawg fuel only that 83 test push water on the far pump ....but if you can faller us down that dirt road to the left and turn right passed the "RED SCHOOL BUS" we'll fix you right up with some vp race gas for our owen county speedway car ...i said hers two bucks its time to ween this pig and make her grunt like a hawg ...and then came the real test of octane ratings at the pumps as this puppy was packin' two screamin eagle 103 cu in 12.5 to 1 racing pistons and the high compression cnc milled off road only racing heads ...i pumped in a half gallon and hit throttle for spencer indiana where there is octane booster and shell 93 octane ....but plunking along at 50 mph in 5th not to fast but high enough rpm with no load on the engine still doing ok , i come up on this 1953 F100 ford pickup truck and no sooner turns the head around of twice removed cousin green teeth eyes and mouth wide open and brother's head bobbin' up and down like he's jammin' to the radio they dont have ...i dont know bout you guys out there but ive already been to street smart 101 before a ever got my 1st moped in 1963....so spark ping or not i dropped mz dyna to thrid and hammered back the wick to the same in 4th 5th and half ran it in 6th till there was no vehicals in my rear view mirrors and it started to make a tickling sound in the rocker boxes but not that bad as i backed off to 50mph again and sound of death went away and to my surprise as i popped over the last hill from the south i'm in spencer of only 20 minutes from the texico in hell and sun i etra bright seems likw cause it was like overcast were i had just came from almost as if everything had been in black ands white except for the mongoloid twina and their fuckin green teeth ....damnit boys and girls i was in thw twilight zone as donie baker i swear to god i was!

I would save up a couple grand more, 1k for the gear and another thousand for a break down-maintenance fund, for me and a lot of other riders I talk to it seems when bikes need to be worked on it hits all once and bike parts are not cheap or cheap to have it repaired, i'm broke most of the time but I do have money put away for parts, tires, etc (I'm eating Top Ramen but I got Michelin tires) Of course there are always credit cards for that a flat tire counts as an emergency.
OH LOL I don't stall much but now and then I'm still in second gear at a stop, luckily the torque on my Sporty can handle it. 😊

A good one for new riders coming from a newer rider. It's good to build confidence and recognize that you're learning but don't be too confident that you have it mastered(any particular skill) I'll explain.. Practiced quick swerving and was a bit over confident that I had it down. Come MVD test time after what I thought was enough practice and I now have damage from a drop reminding me "You know nothing Jon Snow". Bent shift lever was an easy fix but the scratches are there to remind me to not stop trying to learn more.
    TL:DR
When you think you got it figured out......practice more.

The best way to teach yourself counter-steering, is to get on a hilly road on a bicycle and speed down that hill. The concept comes rather quickly, much faster than trying to wrap your head around oppositeville.

  • @akurkyojin4664

Is counter-steering something we do without noticing? Because if been learning to ride for the past month and i just lean... 😂 and in the tutorials vids even when they talk about counter steering you guys seem to just lean...

Hey Dan, great Video as always.
I had a lot of stalling on my FZ09 when I first got it. I found that on some bikes the friction zone is so far out that I can hardly fade into it. The last percents of that clutch engagement I let it snap in - with lots of stalling as a result.
I would only recommend people to get themselves adjustable levers. An earlier engaging clutch really did the trick for me!

As a new rider twice, I have done almost all the mistakes twice. The second time around though I haven't crashed, yet, some things are inevitable, but that's why love this stuff.

A Big mistake is to video and talk non stop while riding .This may be to obvious but ,riding with no hands is also a mistake..No wonder your so big on protective gear , you need it! I also now understand why you dont get along with old school bikers ,your way smarter than we are !

Well. Great Video. But I have a story for you. I've stalled my bike with my girl friend as passenger. Haha. Well - the road, at which I've stopped - was slightly inclined - but so much inclined to the right. Well... after stalled the bike - my girl friend thought we are gonna make the turn right. ... yeah... and we both ended on the ground with the bike. But it has mounted crash bars for theses situations but it wasn't that funny at the moment. But it happens.
A really good point to mention: Countersteering is really great to practice when you are riding with your bicycle. :)
Lovely greetings from austria, and ride safe buddy.
