It's arguably one of the finest songs Noel wrote. P.s Oasis have lots of guitar heavy songs, check out Headshrinker, Bring it On Down, or Morning Glory.
This is the kind of collection you just hit play and do some things around the house. It’ll bite you when you’re not looking. All B Sides. Amazing period of music.
Oasis songs you need to listen to : rock'n'roll star , cigarettes and alcohol , slide away , bring it on down , supersonic , up in the sky , live forever , columbia
Noel’s a brilliant songwriter. U haven’t even scratched the surface of this band. The hits are endless. Look for the live versions from the 90’s. U nailed it when u said “great melodies”. Noel always says that’s all he cares about in his songs, the melody.
Oh you got it all wrong. Noel is very proud of ripping of some Beatles songs. Infact many of their shows they would go in and out of Beatles songs whilst playing Oasis songs. Oasis fans don't have a problem with it either. In the early Oasis days it was seen as a cheap insult and an easy criticism but they and the fans eventually totally embraced it. They ripped off many others. It wasn't exclusively the Beatles. The kinks, The Who, The stones, T Rex. Noel ripped off only the best. His mastery of lyrical writing was all his tho. A wall of sound, Liam as a unique frontman with a unique vocal style and Noels top tier songwriting made them special. Who they were inspired by/ripped off is pretty much insignificant when they added so much of themselves to it.
Oasis have always been open qoth their admiration for the beatles. Liam wears the beatles glasses for most gigs and oftern have some sort of influence musically or visually in theor videos. But to say they are ripping them off is wild. but were they influenced, yes definitely. Next try another B side Acquiese
Oasis were massively influenced by the Beatles, they don't make no bones about it. The outro of this they song a bit of octopuses garden. Think you may have missed that. They have covered the Beatles a few times, I am the Walrus, tomorrow never knows, you gotta hide your love away, help, etc..
They did live on occasion, but he means Noel says it at the end of this Masterplan studio recording. Most people don't notice because it's at the very end of the fade out.
If you want to hear more gnarly stuff from Oasis you should react to some tracks from their debut album like Supersonic, Bring it on down, rock n roll star and Cigarettes and alcohol!
You don’t know anything on that ‘album’ because they were ALL B-Sides… Not many bands can put out an album of B-Sides👍 If you want to hear some of their ‘dirty’ then Morning Glory is a tune!
Oasis really took elements from a lot of songs, accusations of ripping off miss the most important thing, in my opinion, which is to say that they embedded those ripoffs into songs that were amazing and 95% different from the original

This was a B-Side to Wonderwall. Check out more of their B-Sides, they're great.
totally ! a lot of the b-sides were good enough to be releases on their own.
Live versions of cigarettes & alcohol and my personal fave Headshrinker

The video to this is amazing - it’s basically an animated LS Lowry tribute. Industrial north of England. Worth checking out
🍻
This and acquiesce are my two favourites and they’re both B sides

The favored answer to people who say oasis are Beatles rip offs is just “listen to headshrinker” and it just puts any argument to bed.

Isn’t it Whatever when they sing Octopus’s Garden at the end?

Well said about the Beatles Sir. A bit of common sense.

I’ll say this, their first album has zero Beatles like sounds of arrangements. Their second album has a lot of Beatles influence for sure.
