- After giving some money to a homeless man one night Hermann evaluates whether his decision was a good one.
Season 5 Episode 13 "Trading in Scuttlebutt"
Tensions run high at a call when another house shows up first and Boden makes a decision that doesn't sit well with the other Chief who had just received a promotion. Fearing his reputation had been damaged, the Chief makes things miserable at 51. Meanwhile. Severide makes a decision whether to leave Chicago and become a Battalion Chief in Springfield. Also, Dawson tries to find a date for Brett following her break up and Hermann makes an appearance at his sons school.

Someone did this for me once... and I got the job, and I got off the streets. I have a good life now
I was never able to find them again to repay their kindness - so instead I pay it forward.
And everyone I manage to help, I ask them not to return to me, but to also help someone else one day too.
Keep the cycle going.

Christopher did a very good thing. He is a very kind man to have done that. never make fun of someone who wants to help. I once went to the shop on my way home from school, and bought two breakfast buns, like my mother had asked me to. On my way out, I saw a woman sitting outside the shop with a little cup in front of her, with a few coins in it. I felt bad, so I went over to her and gave her one of the breakfast buns. "Take this. I want you to have it!" I told her, making her cry with joy. I went home, feeling happier than I already had been feeling.
problem is though. You never know if that money is going to be used for drugs and could be the reason someone overdoses.

Sometimes, we may face Hermann's moral dilemma; doing the right thing versus doing the good thing. There are times when doing the right thing may not be good, and doing the good thing may not be right. It is a calculated risk when it comes to someone asking for help. Hermann not only did a good thing; he ended up doing the right thing as well. My late maternal grandmother was right in her advice: never turn down a plea for help if it is possible to help.
Exactly. If People ask you for help, you are responsible. Im not saying that you have to help, maby you would either need help yourself so you really can, just, try to be helpful. That Starts with not beeing mean to others. Old people can give you a Lot of wisdom when you Talk to them. :)

I love it, we don't choose who we help. We help those whether they deserve it or not. Never turn down an opportunity to help others as small as it is, it will go a long way. Never turn a blind eye, because when u help someone they will remember u for rest of their life and also they will help others too because they know what's it like to be needing help or a helping hand. I've given people money before now, even I had no real expectation that they were telling me the truth, just on the off-chance that it helps someone out. I figure if they are using it for drugs, if they're already addicted then it's not really making their life worse and I'm the sucker. But possibly they might use that money to buy shelter for the night. I'm okay with that wager.
