I am so glad I found your channel. Your channel is so good. Your video structure, and pacing is spot on. I love your content and video editing. I know you were conflicted because all the time and work you put into UA-cam this season kept you from getting some work done on the homestead. It was time well spent. Your investment has paid off. You have one of the best channels out there.
Yes, I agree with this post... Love from Nairobi Kenya... My dream is a homestead retirement... In the process of purchasing a small piece of land. Wish me luck ... Guys keep up the good work ❤❤❤❤❤
I love that Michelle suggested buying the cookbook for the pie crust recipe. I think that says a lot about her character and her respect for other types of creators. As always, another great video! Catherine
The massive amount of work put into this video AND dinner just astounds me! Cooking a Thanksgiving dinner is enough work all by itself but everything all at once by scratch PLUS all of the clean up and video of it.....JUST WOW!
I started planning my Thanksgiving in July. I grew so many of the sides like green beans, sweet potatoes, white potatoes collards and spices like SAGE. I am so excited
Despite living in an apartment, I have a dream of a small homestead one day. You are both encouraging and I’ve learned a lot from your vlogs. It’s refreshing there’s no judgment, but you guys just teach and show your homestead ❤
That Thanksgiving feast looks devine!!! A huge assortment of traditional goodies (except the delicious stuffing). I'm glad you had company too. I think I watched this episode twice. See ya all next time.
That looked amazing! Especially that homemade ice cream. A lot of work went into growing, harvesting and preparing all of it. What an experience for your family!
I just have to say that I really love this channel. I have been subscribed for a while now, but I have never commented. This summer was the first time I had ever grown anything in my life. I was quite successful. I learned a lot from your channel. Thank you so much. I have also made Michelle's BBQ sauce and raspberry jam, and they were both very good. I will be making the caramel corn this weekend.I also really like how real you are as well. You show that homesteading is a lot of work, but you also show how rewarding it is, and even though not everyone is able to homestead, there is still a lot to be learned from you. Your tips and tricks work just as well for the small gardener and homecook. Sorry this was so long, but thank you for all your hard work.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment! Glad you're here, and that you're enjoying the videos and learning. So glad you had a successful first growing season! Keep it up!
Being in the U.K., I like sage and onion stuffing with my roast chicken or turkey dinner, delicious! Many Brits like to make bread sauce, but we are like Codi, we don’t like it so it doesn’t get made in this home! You look like you treat your sweet potatoes as we would do our honey glazed carrots. Sweet potatoes is to squishy in texture for us, but I know lots of Brits love them. Love caramel popcorn, only way to eat it into! Enjoy your dinner!
Hey there from South Australia once again! So lovely a meal... so much work but when you do it together, it really does make you thankful eh! So many of those dishes are American favorites, we've never made a pumpkin pie but this year, as we are growing 2 varieties of pumpkin / squash including butternut, we have to give it a go! Gotta ask though, what were your children doing all day that allowed you to film and work so hard without seeming to have any interruption? We love how you include a family heart focus and it is all about serving, serving God, serving your family, serving each other, indeed through honesty, serving your youtube community. It's great that we can be on the other side of the world and be invited into another world. If you ever want to travel to Australia, give us a bell and we would love to host you for a bit when we get out new property! God bless.
Howdy! You definitely don't have to be American to enjoy pumpkin pie 😉 With most of our videos we find something for the kids to do, or shoot during their quiet time in the afternoon. With this one though, since it was all day, they got to go to grandma's house 😁 Thank you for the kind words! Australia is on our bucket list 😊
You two are just SO cute! You'll have to settle your green bean differences in an adult manner just like my husband and I do..rock,paper,scissors. Best 2 out of 3 wins. 😂 Many blessings and a beautiful Thanksgiving to you. ❤
Bread stuffing Day old bread for crumbs Mixed herbs sprinkled into the bread so it looks speckled Diced onions Salt Pepper 1-2 eggs mixed in to bind Anything else you like Its a drier stuffing and tasty
Cody is right - canned beans are better than frozen! LOL When you get to raising turkey's, you will enjoy them...they are the homestead's most underused poultry I figure - they give you a lot of meat and they can be meat on the hoof too. That pie crust and pie looks wonderful!! If you don't like the bread stuffing, a rice stuffing is a nice change - par cook the rice and it will finish cooking in the bird....my family makes it often. The meal looks wonderful! Good job.
I like to stuff poultry with a combination of chopped onions, citrus, apples and bacon with different herbs (whatever I have on hand) . I put thick slices of onion on the bottom of the pan place bird breast side down for most of the cooking time, then flip it over to brown about 20 minutes before it's done. This makes the meat moist and flavorful.
Oh, sweet sensations, delicious meal right there ! Right here in southeast Texas , no stuffing.. no Thanksgiving 😅😅 And believe me , once you try the south style stuffing!? You will want every year . Be blessed 🙏🏻
I knew exactly what she meant about the two freezers. Give her more credit. 😁😁😁 It is amazing to watch you cook; you manage the time and finishing of everything together very well. I'm sure it doesn't always come together at all the right times but it looks like you get it often enough. Great job.
I found your channel after you did the podcast with Lisa from Farmhouse on Boone! I want y'all to know how much I love watching your videos! I can't get enough! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
In Brazil we have something similar to stuffing/dressing called Farofa. It is basically toasted fine cassava flour you should try it! The simplest version is made by toasting it on the stove top with butter and salt, and it goes amazing with wet foods like beans. But the version that is similar to your American stuffing/dressing is one we make by frying small diced bacon, chicken/turkey inners (when we make it to accompany the bird at Christmas), garlic and sauteed diced onions, and then frying the fine cassava flour on the bacon fat and added butter to taste. Sometimes we also add chopped nuts, diced apple and raisins. This version is made wetter than the first one, by using more fat, because we usually stuff the bird with it before baking it. That is why I think it is similar (but better!) to American stuffing/dressing.
Finally a homestead channel I can really relate to. You are doing amazing job and I learn really so much!!!!! So a huge "thank you" and much joy on your farm!!!!!! 🕊️💛🕊️
Amazing that you are able to use most of what you grow to provide a Thanksgiving meal to me that's what it's all about , I so wish we celebrated thanks giving in England ,I love nothing better then catering for my friends and family
We watching you all the way from Johannesburg South Africa. So impressed with your homesteading skills and time management. We waiting patiently for your cheese making for beginners. Keep it up guys
Wonderful meal! Makes me wish I could be there to share. Great job on the video. I am guessing that doing the video along with making the meal really left the two of you very busy. God bless y'all and keep growing!
I just wanna say bravo to you both. You guys are doing this farm thing and inspiring so many! I so want this life fir my own family. I am NOT a good cook but watching these videos has helped me feel like I can do much better if I just get some proper methods and tools haha. Thank you for these helpful videos. God bless you guys.
Good day! We roast chicken instead of turkey, too! Chicken tastes better, and it doesn't take as long to cook. That way, we are not wasting time or energy 😊 we love your channel! Thank-you ❤
Absolutely LOVE your channel! My husband and I are in the process of closing on five acres! Your channel has provided me with so much helpful information and I look forward to putting some of it to use!
My family is from further north and we make a different stuffing. We use sausage, onion, celery and sage mixed into a thick mashed potato and bake it for 20 minutes. Your dinner looked delicious.
Around my neck of the woods, stuffing is a wet, nasty bread concoction that is used to stuff the bird with. Dressing, however, Thanksgiving is not Thanksgiving without dressing! Using stale bread with spices and onions, celery and a few other ingredients covered in the juices of the turkey (or chicken) and baked... I could eat it all year round. I found your channel searching for how to grow blackberries. I prefer them to raspberries, but I am using your channel as inspiration. Happy Thanksgiving!!!
I used to have a whirlypop, but after owning it for years, I realized it was made from aluminum and scraping aluminum into my popcorn in powder form. Try to stay away from that. I do it in a wok now with a lid. It’s pretty easy too :)
Thank you so much for the Thanksgiving inspiration! I love cooking a big dinner with a deep fried turkey that my husband always does. With all my girls, the sil's and grands, there's 25 of us. A house full for sure and I love every bit of it! I got to get my list started of what all I want to make. 😊
Been binge watching gardening videos lately and ive decided to try my hand at it come next year. Yiur channel has given me so much inspiration. Great meal😊
I'm with Michelle on the green beans....frozen are MUCH better! 😁 And if you make stuffing properly, it is light and fluffy and buttery and completely yummy! You have to avoid those dry bread crumbs they sell millions of bags of every year around the holidays, and use homemade bread.....!
Such a great idea on the homemade ice cream! It’s never quite as thick or as scoopable as I wanted it to be. Never thought about freezing it twice. 😊❤ thanks for all the wonderful information.
This is one of your videos that I saved. So much info. The butternut pie is interesting! I'll have to try that. I really like the way you splice in quick clips of past things to explain what you just said. I love the way 'Mrs Farmer' 🙂 looks at the camera quickly out of the corner of her eye while you film. She seems to have a great knowledge base of cooking but hates cooking! "You got that camera on me again?" "Do we really have to film this?" Ha. She doesn't flap trap along using too many words to make more content. Concise and to the point. "Take what I say or shove it!" I'm still going thru your videos. It's like a Christmas gift. Course I'm 71 and a 'useless eater' so everything is relative I spose. One time my better half once said, - "You not only fell off the turnip truck - it ran over you as well!" Ain't true love grand? Have a good one.
Former barman here. Whenever I had limes/ lemons for the cocktails I always made sure that the fruit was at room temperature or even put in the microwave for about ten seconds to heat up. The reason is that fruit lets more juice out when its warm. Perhaps before you make cider, you put the apples in the oven on low heat for a few moments in a pan? Hope this info will help. Thank you for the wonderful videos!
Marina di chiogia pumpkins are awesome. They are green not orange. Give them a go. I am also a butternut squash lover but these pumpkins are delicious.

You might consider putting together a Holiday cookbook with all these recipes. I’d be first in line for it!
