Watching this just makes me feel happier about sticking with the old road plates. Only reason I’d change would be to add lights and I’m not really wanting all those wires etc in the lego. So for me this just confirms my choice
Same yeep sticking with the old road plate s to ..nuthing Rong with the old road plate. I'm a artist. So just. Connect every thing. But can pull out. Any bulding or modula if need be no problem .to me it yousing dubble the base plate s plus dubble money. Unless get that money back in extra sale $. .to me the mile don't look no different. To adding. A edging base under or around the building.
love the details of the catch basins (drains in curb) along the road. so hyped for the mils transition! lots of potential, so much more room for detail! excited to see what you come up with for the city
As a Walmart associate, I can tell you that your Walmart did their reset for the toy aisle. Since my store did the same thing too. But my lego aisle has been empty since after Christmas. As for the camera, they put that there since they've probably dealt with theft and other reasons in that area. That's probably why they put that camera monitor there. There are cameras in my lego aisle too after I noticed and open spiderman lego set. That's why you notice all that. But I'm excited about the mills.
I don’t have any experience with MILS, but it looks like it will be amazing, and I’m excited to watch the changes! Looks like it would make it a lot easier to move if you ever end up moving to a new house also
I love the idea of putting grass on the outside of your road plates! I love watching your videos. I can’t afford many Lego sets so I’m living vicariously through you!
Two suggestions: 1) You shouldn't make the special MILS plates with the solid gray edges. Instead, build those plates as normal and then build a small edging (I like black but do whatever you like) that will clip into the exposed technic holes, covering the whole side of the MILS plate and making a nice, finished solid edge. That keeps the MILS plate generic and more modular so you won't have to rebuild it later if you move that plate somewhere else (where you do want the technic holes). It also looks nicer because you can bevel the edge and such. I can provide you images/plans that I came up with and use if you'd like, but there are other ones out there if you search. 2) I mentioned in a comment on a previous video--don't make the mistake of converting to MILS but neglecting to get rid of baseplates at the same time. You will eventually (minorly) regret it. You can find the comment on the recent video announcing you were going MILS.
What do you mean by neglecting to get rid of base plates. Wouldn’t you want to keep them and utilize them for something else unless I’m reading it incorrectly
@@heartofakid9532 What I mean is that the bottom layer of your MILS plates should not be baseplates. They should be plates. MILS makes the 4 sides linkable and more modular. You should use plates on the bottom to do the same for that, not just reuse your baseplates down there. If you ever want to securely stack and link in from below, baseplates don't cut it. If you ever need a double high MILS plate (necessary for some features) it is helpful to be able to just snap more stuff to the bottom. Baseplates are bad. Baseplates, if they didn't already exist would not be introduced by the Lego Group because they go against the Lego philosophy. Because Lego doesn't make them, I advocate you buy quality non-Lego 32x32 (non-base) plates as the foundation to build on. (But if you insist, you could build this from smaller Lego plates). As I mentioned in another comment, I see non-Lego as fine here even if you want 100% Lego in your city. Just consider everything above this very bottom layer as being the Lego instead of everything above the table to be the Lego. It is never seen or interacted with. It just becomes your new "table surface."
Really looking forward to the switch to MILS; the addition of depth on an otherwise flat plane has some interesting building options. Adding a small archaeological site, maybe in the campground, would be super cool!
Suggestion!! I think the corner looks good without any curve. What do you think? Also! The parking spots, can you shift them closer to the street to add a mini curb on the parking spots?
Me too man! It is a lot of fun. We are about to change the three rows of plates after the amusement paek eliminating a row of road and allowing us spice things up with pedestrian walkway/park
I used my old flat road baseplates to create some MILs plates. This way you don’t have to use up all the green, blue, white or sand coloured baseplates and use them for something else. Saved me a ton of money. 😬
Happy birthday jose!! Hope you have a fantastic day and wish you good wealth, health and happiness in your life. Jordan, love the video. The MILS system is really amazing.
I just started my lego city just recently and use the New Road system. Love it how you can also make it 4 lanes and you can add a rail right on the roadside. Couldn't do that with the old road plates. Im sure once its all completed it will look awesome
The Parking stalls cause an issue with the sidewalk if placed on the town hall side. The Town hall lot should be like back to the future. Move the building up a few studs into the middle and have a park going all the way around it. Wall in the town hall lot with six openings. If you keep the parking on that side, have the corners be open and feed into the middle, other openings in the middle of the lot. Parking stalls probably better down the main street and not in front of the Town Hall. As youll still have a four stud side walk on main street buildings.
It's coming together!! Looking great! Definitely keep the security cam on this guy! Your city is going to look so much better!! All those details u guys are going to pack into there will be incredible!
Good morning J..... More road plate s I so wish the stud plate s could connect from under neith but thay don't..so have to yous different size .Lego plate for on top dubble the money needed. To do this..and the building s and modular have pin s in sides to join them together..any way.. injoy your updating with the mile s plate set up ..
Very cool! But instead of making special MILS plates with gray sides, why don't you make clip-on edges using Technics and grey bricks that you can just clip onto the side of any MILS plate? That would make switching MILS plates later a bit easier too since you wouldn't have to adapt their sides.
Haha took no time jumping into MILS. I thought it was gonna take awhile before you started everything but you started like the next day! Can't wait to see it take shape
Getting really involved with Lego's and now MILs and wondering where do you buy a 1000 of grey tiles or yellow cubes to build the plates? I dont see them on the Lego site?
Your town hall lay out made me think of Back to the Future. Think you should put the diner in the appropriate place and also have Doc Brown hanging from the clock tower. Have you thought about building the roads like Lion Bricks does? You can get much more detail and they look that little bit better that the plates Lego sell. City is going to be awesome
Can't you somehow reuse the old road pieces for MILS bases? I know they don't have full studs, but I am sure there is a workaround if you used a few 2x16(+?) bricks and/or plates?
Moving to MILS myself, I need to do Town Square and Ghostbusters Firehouse. They are on 1 1/2 base plate. What would suggest for that? Do two MILS 32 x 32 and have a 16 x 32 area tp fill. Or do a 1 1/2 MILS Plate?
Love the changes cannot wait for the changes and you can make a city mall and a new skyscraper too keep building love your and thank you your videos help a lot
Instead of either having grass or pavement around the outside you could make some raised semi circular flower beds that go a few bricks in, maybe 2 per MILS plate? Kind of like what you have going with that one planter on the outside but keep it low brick count but aesthetically pleasing like what you did with the DOTS fence design before, love these MILS videos pal got me so excited to put some together :)
Vidiyo is on sale at Walmart. I picked up a metal dragon beat box 43109 for $11 ($20 retail) and Robo Hiphop Car 43112 for $17.28 ($30 retail). About 48% off. Not a huge Vidiyo fan but I do really like some of the minifigs in them. Hence why I picked these sets up.
Oh man, I gotta check out my Walmart, seeing this one stocked and some SW stuff I want gives me some hope for mine. I want to get some sets local so I don't have to do yet another order in such a short period. (Did 1 big and 2 small orders 10th of Jan, then a big one 2 weeks after) I need to wait for a few paychecks and I'll try to get the Assembly square or whatever is in stock on my retire get first list.
That mask is awesome, my mom made me one similar too at the start of the pendimic. But sadly I lost it. Great video, keep up the good work. I hope everyone is having a nice day. :)
I recently started building a lego city with my modulars. I am wondering if you would recommend starting off using MILs plates rather then swapping to MILs later down the line?
My dog Mars has been chewing on one of the street lamps, so it got bent. I put a car next to it in my city so it seems like a car hit it 😅🤣 it doesn’t explain the bite marks…but I did not want to build a dinosaur haha
Maybe the finished product look amazing once complete but for me the older plates look better on the eye. The new road plate system is strange as the centre of the road has tiles
The whole MILs is like a content heaven..and a wallet emptier.
lmao
Its MILS actualy because the S stands for System
Bricksie's gone from LEGO builder to city planner...and I love it. Also, sweet Star Wars hat. The MILS system should make the city feel more lifelike.
I does to be faiR u know
It's looking better with the mils because you can take different sections out without having to take parts off just for that one plate
Agree on the aesthetics of the old road plates. Sure the new system is customizable but it comes at a steep cost with trade offs.
love the details of the catch basins (drains in curb) along the road. so hyped for the mils transition! lots of potential, so much more room for detail! excited to see what you come up with for the city
You can use the road plates for MILS too, not just regular baseplates
As a Walmart associate, I can tell you that your Walmart did their reset for the toy aisle. Since my store did the same thing too. But my lego aisle has been empty since after Christmas. As for the camera, they put that there since they've probably dealt with theft and other reasons in that area. That's probably why they put that camera monitor there. Bricksie, you can convert your old roads into mils plates. There are several videos of of creators doing so.
Happy Birthday Josée! Jordan, your enthusiasm here is amazing. I'm glad you're happy.
When he uses the triangle for the turn it makes it look like a great
I don’t have any experience with MILS, but it looks like it will be amazing, and I’m excited to watch the changes! Looks like it would make it a lot easier to move if you ever end up moving to a new house also
This was a great description of why MILS. loved it!!!
Happy birthday JOSE !!! 🎊🎉✨🎂Hope you get an amazing day and wish you good health!
Happy birthday Mrs. Bricksie!! Happy birthday Jordan!!
I love the idea of putting grass on the outside of your road plates! I love watching your videos. I can’t afford many Lego sets so I’m living vicariously through you!
Have you tried doing the exposed MILS edge as a masonry brick? It may give it a really nice finished look. Love your Lego city and your channel!!!

@@VargaKen oh I see we’ll that’s for the detailed explanation. Made much more sense.
Happy Birthday Mrs.Bricksie!!!!! Have a great birthday!!!
Jordan, using the older road baseplates also works well as a base for the MILS.
I actually love the look of the mils plate. Definitely something I would like to do
Really looking forward to the switch to MILS; the addition of depth on an otherwise flat plane has some interesting building options.
Adding a small archaeological site, maybe in the campground, would be super cool!
You should put a red balloon coming out of one of the gutters.
They look amazing - I know what I am doing for my city build now. Thanks for the ideas
Suggestion!!
I think the corner looks good without any curve. What do you think?
Also! The parking spots, can you shift them closer to the street to add a mini curb on the parking spots?
Looking great, can't wait to watch this evolve. Always loved the city updates (and city live streams back in the day). Great work!
8:38 Raider AT-ST is available on Amazon for $39.99 as well.
Already taking shape! Awesome work so far and can't want to see it continue to elevate!

Can you show how you built these in the next video
I'll be doing a few tutorial videos in the near future!

Paint the ceiling light blue with puffy clouds.
Mils is a good idea and you should make the curved roads more curved.
Could you maybe use the old road plates as the base for the new MILS?
You should do a round about Infront of the city hall with a fountain in the middle
You should add a red balloon to one of the sewer grates in the pop culture area
You can use your old road plat for your mils, nice city
I see your shops have many empty shelves too . Looking forward to all the detail . Tfs

If you did "grass" on the perimeter edge, you could use either green bricks, or brown (mimicking dirt)
It's coming together!! Looking great! Definitely keep the security cam on this guy! Your city is going to look so much better!! All those details u guys are going to pack into there will be incredible!
Happy birthday Josèe hope you have a great day and Jordan good luck on your venture
Bricksie like a week ago: Someday we’ll convert the city to MILS plates. Probably a 2023 project
Bricksie today:
Looking good so far yea tricky part I find are the corners but at least there is ways to design those
Now all you need is to bring lights to the city :)
I always get happy when i see your videos. The passion you have is just so enjoyable

Give into your temptation, buy the boombox!
I have it!
Loving the new layout. Looks awesome.
Get the boombox and send it to Trevor! 🤣
Those Mills plates would be better using white ones. They would blend in better with your tables. Love your fun and creative content.
Road plates are 1.80$CA new on Bricklink, buy those in bulk instead of the Lego pack, you'll save loads of money mate!

Do the tiles of the sidewalk not next to each other but like a brick wall so the spring a half a tile
awesome video jordan the mils roads look amazing in the lego city
A little unrelated but I work at Walmart and watching you walk through this huge Walmart makes me glad that my store is really small lol
Hello I love the intro of your dog😁💚♥️💙
Happy Birthday Mrs Bricksie. 🎂
Haha took no time jumping into MILS. I thought it was gonna take awhile before you started everything but you started like the next day! Can't wait to see it take shape
I’m just starting on the MILS life. But, building a stuntz park with an abandoned apocalypse city.
I know it's too late, but you can make the mills road plates with the old road plates for the base of the mills.
Great job can't wait to work on mine
Getting really involved with Lego's and now MILs and wondering where do you buy a 1000 of grey tiles or yellow cubes to build the plates? I dont see them on the Lego site?

What you do with old roads, sell or build expressway
We'll be selling them
Its amazing what you can do with lego
Thanks for the heart you have been an inspiration to me
Happy Birthday Josee!!
What are you gonna do with the regular road plates?
have you ever been thrift shopping? that might be a good inexpensive way to get bricks for the inside of the mils plates?
Can't you somehow reuse the old road pieces for MILS bases? I know they don't have full studs, but I am sure there is a workaround if you used a few 2x16(+?) bricks and/or plates?

Our Walmarts in Chicago are trash! Everything always everywhere, so messy.

Great vid Bricksie

I know in America Walmart does a price match on a lot if you show them the ad. Maybe they do in Canada.
Maybe the finished product look amazing once complete but for me the older plates look better on the eye. The new road plate system is strange as the centre of the road has tiles
To solve the curve I brick built my curved roads instaid of using road plates.
