East Broad Top Railroad PEANUTS™ The Great Pumpkin Patch Express

- Over the weekend of October 21-22, 2023 I made the trip to The East Broad Top Railroad, located in Rockhill Furnace Pennsylvania, to take part in their PEANUTS™ The Great Pumpkin Patch Express runs. The railroad is celebrating their 150th anniversary, and also the return to steam for the first time since 2011.
Pulling the excursions was E.B.T #16, a 1916 built Baldwin built 2-8-2 Mikado. This locomotive had not run since the railroad shut down for the first time in 1956. It made its return to service in February 2023 after the purchase of the railroad and restoration by the EBT Foundation in 2020.

Its been a yearly thing with the East Broad Top. I really enjoyed it. They drop you off at the pumpkin patch for around 2 hours where you can get photos with Charlie Brown/Snoopy. Get a pumpkin if you wish and there are like games for the kids and all.

Such an awesome locomotive! We are hoping to travel to Pennsylvania next September or October to see the lovely area and the many steam locomotives running in the vicinity.

Please tell me that they don't have crappy background music playing on board. The narration is annoying enough. I want to listen to the engine and the ambient train sounds. Good on them for making $$$ on the Peanuts gig though.
I mean at least for this ride they do have some music yes and narration from the book. It didnt seem distracting, at least to me. Im not sure on their other trips as this railroad is several hours from me so I dont get there often.
