I just got back from spending a month in Italy. We loved it! Whenever I ordered an antipasti or a primi patti the portion size was huge, like the size of a main course. I couldn’t eat all the food I ordered and then I would feel bad for wasting because in Italy they don’t do carry out containers for leftovers. I ended up only ordering one of the three options at each meal and that worked out.

Travel to Italy is a beautiful experience, guaranteed! It is only necessary to be courteous and respectful, like a good guest in your own home. The people of Italy are generous hosts. You will learn well, eat well, and eventually speak well because you will return again and again.

I've been to Italy only once, twenty years ago. At one restaurant where we ordered pasta, it was very overcooked. I inquired and was told that was the expectation for Americans.

Love your channel & I’m learning so much already. The first time I went to a nice restaurant in Italy, I ordered soup and pasta. The waiter was SHOCKED that I ordered two primi - like it wasn’t possible to do that. I politely said that’s what I would like - soup first then pasta, please - and he did bring it così. I left a tip. 🙂

I love all your videos! So much better than listening to the traditional methods. I feel like I am learning from a friend and listen to you every day in my car when I am driving to work. Keep up the great work! Ciao 😉

Thank you for this channel. I am 50% Italian on my Mother's side and my Grandmother spoke more Italian than English as I was growing up. At 67 I have lost most of what I learned at her knee but you are helping me recover it. Not to be too forward but you are very handsome and if I were 30 years younger......... Grazie for all you do for us!!

I just recently found your channel! I am so excited to begin with your natural method. I am visiting family in Vicenza in May, and then in June will be in Siena for a month with culinary students. Cannot wait to experience Italy properly...

Was just explaining this Italian breakfast vs American breakfast to co workers. In Italy you won’t find an omelet or skillet on the menu at breakfast. More often espresso/cappuccino and maybe a pastry. Yes we eat very different in the USA. We power eat, consume as much and as fast as we can. In Italy it’s more of a prolonged grazing over smaller plates. Meal in segments.

Good information. I used to always just order the first course but I never had any trouble with strange looks but maybe that is okay. I don't know.

Do italians have the same Fiesta thing that Spain and Portugal has? With everything closed in the middle of the day and stuff?
Or is it just the resturants that closes then? Or ALL food places? Oo

When I visited Milan in 1997, I got my bottom pinched. I laughed it off and wrote it in my travel journal. Should my daughters expect this when they visit in 2024?

What are the feelings between Italian's and Sicilian's? Are Sicilian's thought of as a different group of people more than Italian?

In Italy the air conditioning is considered a dangerous device, it is preferred to die by the over 100°

Do Italians really eat three dishes? Antipast plus both primi and secondi?🤔 As for water, I think we should mention a choice between “naturale” and “frizzante”.

Waiting in line outside a shop, is it 'in line' in the US ? here in England, the correct British expression is : joining the queue.... very important indeed, and from experience in visiting Italy, there were no line or queues by the many busstops. Grazie e saluti da Londra
