Well, I find myself here, again. Compelled to make another comment. Last time I was here, 3 months ago, I called all this "preposterous". And I stand by that. Because now I really understand why. All of "til we meet again", is THE showcase of everything Norah and every other musician who's ever worked with her, is about. It really is preposterous, because it's too good. By rights it should melt down and break and fall apart, but the ability of these people, and I struggle to call them people because they seem like deities to me, is ridiculous. So, that's what "til we meet again" is. And I think every time I ever get drawn into a debate about music, this will be my argument for why Norah should be considered, one of the best of all time. The craziest part of all of that, is I think it stacks up. [this whole thing is live, and here is where the "scared" emoji would go, if I thought it could work]
I wish there was a way to get this on iTunes. This is such a good cover to a great song. She did this right after Mr. Cornell’s death I believe. No one sings like him anymore as the song says
The annoying thing about it is that it's extremely unlikely the crowd comes through as loudly and clearly in the unedited stage audio, but producers love to have the mixers enhance the volume of crowds in live performance albums to make it sound as hype as possible.
All of "til we meet again" is preposterous. But no song is more so than this rendition of black hole sun. Preposterous is a word that means absurd, ridiculous and silly all rolled into one. Which is fitting here as this, especially the latter half of black hole sun, is preposterously good. Nothing "should" be this good, not even anything by Norah Jones, and she is already insanely good. But this, and I have to stress this "LIVE" album redefines good even by Norah's standards. So, I use preposterous, to describe it. Because "good" get's nowhere close, "great" is miles away, "amazing" doesn't quite cut the mustard. This is beyond all of those, it is PREPOSTEROUS. 98% of all of this is, well it may as well be the greatest musician in the world, and a gang of other impossibly talented musician 's, unplugged and then turned up to 20 out of 10. [only the first half of "Tragedy" is just amazing, but wait until the second half] None of them is off form, none of them have any off moments. Norah is the obvious focal point, but of the other's [and they are all insanely good pros] a special stand out has to go to Brian Blade, who is basically a God on the drums. Far as Norah goes. I have seen her live in concert twice, and she weren't "this" good. And I have 3 live DVD specials, and she's not this good there, either [still insanely good but not preposterously good] Not even the 20th anniversary special Live recording of Come Away With Me, is this level. I have experienced dozens of Norah's live performances, most as youtube videos, but this is right at the top, it is preposterously good, they all "kill" it here. If there is a God, God was thinking about this when God made music. So enjoy it if your new to the greatest musician on Earth, because this is her at her very best!
