Just looking at him you can tell that he practices what he preaches.. He’s the picture of health. Flawless beautiful skin ,great teeth, articulate. God bless him.🙏🏿
He does look healthy indeed. However we can’t discount that he’s likely had the benefit of a good life with access to comfortable shelter, health and dental care and education since he was a child. Physical and socioeconomic security goes a long way is transforming a person to a higher level of health consciousness. Research shows the more educated the person the more healthy their way of life which includes the diet. Glad this good doctor is helping to educate and heal others.
@@indigowildflowers Good genetics don’t make it alone however. A person must have reasonable food, shelter, clothing, access to medical and dental care to upkeep wear and tear on the body and avoid the effects of neglect. This man by his own story has lived a good life which has supported his genetics and good health. He obviously works hard and is careful to maintain this by eating a very careful diet and not put junk into his body and potentially distort himself by becoming obese. He also wants to avoid having internal fat distort and clog the coronary arteries supplying oxygen to his heart. Or visceral fat invading his liver. This good doctor is enlightened and on his channel advocating the advantages of changing one’s external environment and way of living. This support your body’s genes. We also can not discount the effects of love, spiritual and social support, education and socioeconomics in overall well-being. Lack often will manifest itself in some form of physical malady. Even the classic movie, Trading Places, portrayed how environment and genetics go hand in hand. I think this cardiologist is a great role model.
Great interview. I just switched to a vegan diet after having a heart attack (99% blocked LAD) at 33 years old. Total cholesterol only 146, great blood pressure and a resting heart rate of 48. It can happen to anyone. Also nice to hear him talk about how having a stent isn’t a scarlet letter. One week out from my stent placement now and really needed to hear that. Thank you.
This is part of why we need to make whole foods more available to poorer communities. If they can eat healthier, then can have (hopefully) fewer health issues. No one group of people deserves better/healthier food than another. Processed foods need to be the rarity for people's diets, not the predominant feature.
I dont understand, where i live is South Africa, take aways is always more expensive tjan whole foods,it is way cheaper to buy wfpb than meats and take aways
I agree. I believe the availability is there, but it can be so expensive for many. I would love to eat healthier but sometimes it can be very expensive.
@Irene Ndunge kale is not healthy though, mabe you were talking about steaks, ground beef, tallow, grass fed butter, but things like kale, bananas, fruits and vegetables that grow out of the ground is not really "cheap" that is the correct price for them.
@@starlafaulkner8438 It's cheap if you eat just beef and get fat adapted by limiting carbs, you go a lot longer without eating or feeling the need to, and you get by easily one meal a day, meanwhile many of your health problems including some unexpected ones go away.
Anna LA, that is in control of govt because they can make certain foods not able to be bought with food stamps. Then there need to be community gardens, help poor communities grow healthy food for themselves.
That's freaking awesome, congratulations!!! In case you haven't already, PickUpLimes ( I just use tahini, soy milk or water instead of oil, depending on the recipe) is a great channel for combining taste and health.

WFPB. I suffered from metabolic syndrome (obesity, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, and high blood sugar). I went whole food plant based no sugar or oil and low salt and I lost 65 pounds, all my conditions greatly improved, my gums stopped bleeding, and erections and energy returned. I used to have an appetite that was never satisfied; whole foods cured it. I no longer use a sleep apnea machine. Finally, the food is cheap-Beans, lentils, sprouted flourless grain bread, rice, potatoes and seasonal apples. Also, I save money by not having to buy pills or visit the Doctor. I am thankful to all the vegans who suffered attacks to reveal the truth to me.

Thank you Dr. Batiste for an insightful interview. I underwent a triple bypass in 2019 at the age of 59. I pray to find a Cardiologist like you. Before my surgery, I was given a good report of my EKG in 2018. Wrong, fast forward August 2019 on the way to church had shortage of breath, chest pain, and burping like no tomorrow. I was admitted into the hospital and my Cardiologist came in the next morning. He was shocked to see me on the heart ❤️ ward. He ran a heart cat test with dye. I was given a mild sedative and was aware of what was going on. They Cardiologist were talking and all of a sudden, they went silent. My heart was trying to repair itself. New vessels had started to grow. The body is an amazing and wonderfully made. The Doctor told my husband that I had major blockage in three arteries. Stents wouldn't do me any good. My Doctor broke the news to me. It didn't surprise me. Heart disease has claimed the lives of my father, brothers, and uncles. I am in the fourth week of going plant based. The only discussion with the FNP that works for my Cardiologist just checks my blood pressure, ask me how I am feeling and that's it. I thought he would be doing blood are something. 5 years ago I was working as a bicycle courier and one day at work I began having mild chest pains. It wasn't severe but was enough to send me to the doctor. I am 6'3" and weighed 230 lbs but because I had an active job I believed that gave me a pass to eat whatever I wanted. My lab results came in and my cholesterol was off the charts and my blood pressure was approaching cardiac emergency levels. I was told that I needed to make some changes and I wasn't sure what to do. A friend of mine on reddit at the time was vegan and after seeing my post approached me and offered some advice. I started slowly and relapsed several times but it's been 4 years and I eat a strictly vegan diet. I've been medication free for over 2 years and my last EKG was great. They said I have the heart of a high school quarterback. So glad I made this change! Veganism made food and eating food interesting again and all with the added bonus of allowing me the chance to do a 180⁰ with my cardiac and overall health. Cheers veganism!

Turned Vegan 5 years ago at 55, but did it for the animals…not a plant based diet…I’m Vegan. However, I still have not gotten away from Vegan meats and cheeses, French fries, etc. I have a goal… We retire in about 6 months and are moving to the mountains of southern Mexico. We will be away from fast food places and most process foods. At that point I want to be on Dr Esselstyn’s diet…100%.

Wow, thanks! I've been a bit derail the last seven weeks working on the website that I hope will complement this UA-cam channel very nicely. I have like 50 interviews left to edit and publish that I've already shot it's driving me nuts. I'll try to release one today though if I can if not Friday for sure. And then I should be back on track for once every. That website almost killed me though, VeganLinked.com it's not ready for official launch but it's functional at least :)
Dr. Batiste, you are awesome: you’re intelligent, deeply knowledgeable, well spoken and enthusiastic … and also warm, approachable, realistic and likable. A WFPB rockstar! Great interview. Thank you for spending your valuable time sharing your message. Looking forward to your book!
This is encouragement. I am 55 yr old woman in relatively great health ( we exercise and lift a little weights) but my 58 yr old hubby eats what I eat but bc of genetics finds it harder to keep his BP and cholesterol numbers right. So I am looking at us to stop eating meats (we already don't eat pork) and try your lifestyle Doc since you look and feel awesome and this seem to be the sentiment of others who eat plant base whole foods too... Thank you again for your passion and gift to us. I am aware that honesty make the business you are in less profitable

This interview was excellent. He is very knowledgeable. One of my long time questions I always had he answered. The people from way back then did they have head disease and things. Yes they did, wow
You are so right when someone is seeking out a way to better health or optimal health a part of the journey to try new eating options. That’s the best way to see what works but it takes patience. As for me I also tried keto years ago and I had to realize that that was just way too much fat although Good Fat. It is just bad. So now I am WFPB. One year 4 months.
Read Dr Michael Greger's book How Not to Die and just eat fresh fruits and veggies and nuts and seeds and berries and melons and you won't need a doctor.
The SW tribe is the Pima Native Americans in Arizona and the neighborhood with the highest incidence of Obesity DM and Atherosclerosis from eating disorders. Excellent discussions. Thanks.
I’m 61. Been vegan for 6 years. Take no medications and have perfect blood work. Spent 17 years as a caregiver to elderly parents and my grandmother. My parents lived to age 80 and my grandmother lived to age 82. All of them ate the Standard American Diet. None were overweight. None drank alcohol. Only my father smoked and he only smoked one cigarette after dinner. All of them started on blood pressure medications from about age 40 onward. They suffered from high blood pressure and various forms of heart disease. My father had bypass surgery on a vein in his leg in his 60s and suffered three major strokes in his 70s. My mother had open heart surgery for a valve replacement. My grandmother suffered TIAs. After observing what happened to my family, I changed to a vegetarian diet then went fully vegan. I now try to eat mainly raw vegan during the summer months and eat cooked vegan foods during colder months. Since eating animal products leads to arteriosclerosis as a cumulative effect, I only wish I had known all this information when I was younger. Since college days, I had reduced eating meat but still ate dairy foods without restrictions. Just happy that people are realizing the need to avoid animal products altogether. I’m also happy to see doctors like this gentlemen speaking up and recommending a vegan diet rather than sitting back and making money off of people who insist on consuming animal products. I learned a lot during my vegan journey from Dr. Joel Fuhrman. My best friend’s husband co-wrote Dr, Fuhrman’s book “Fast Food Genocide.” I also follow Drs. Esselstyn, Greger, and McDougall. Recently, I read that hospitals in Israel are going to start serving patients only vegan foods while they are hospitalized there. The doctors for my parents and grandmother NEVER told them to stop or even cut back on animal products. All they were told was to eat a banana every day and reduce salt intake. Thank you so much Dr. Batiste.
I do agree with all your observations. I also started late, and wish I knew about WFPB in my 20s. Unlike you, I still need to take meds due to preexisting arteriosclerosis, but numbers are all super low with diet and meds. So far, my doctors want me to do both.
@@DianaHylandTX I’m so glad for you that you did come to the knowledge of WFPB diets and made the change. Every time I go on social media to comment on the changes I made and what happened to my parents, etc. I get extreme pushback from meat-eaters who don’t want the truth. Of course, I can tell by the way they talk that they are younger and have not yet experienced the cumulative effects of eating animal products over many years. They also don’t understand what is happening to parents or grandparents that may be having medical procedures or illnesses and taking medications for illnesses due to arteriosclerosis. The younger people attribute those health problems to old age. These younger people base everything on how they feel presently and, of course, their tastebuds. But I never really hear all that bravado from older people because many older people are suffering from arteriosclerosis and related illnesses. The younger proponents of eating meat comment on how frail vegans look, etc. but they never comment on older people in the hospitals and nursing homes with heart attacks, strokes, kidney failed from medications, arthritis, etc. from eating meat. Neither do they comment of the riches that the medical profession is making off these unfortunate people. I’m just so glad for you. Perhaps soon you will be able to get off all medication. Best wishes. ❤️
Dr. Fuhrman is fearless at throwing the truth out. He was the first WPBF doc I found. I wince at the procedures your parents and Gma had to undergo, and pay for.

So much enjoyed and informative. Dr. Batiste presented so well, calm, intelligent and easy to learn from. Thank you
This is a great conversation with great analogies. Straight forward and simple.
Loved him. What a great philosophy in life! We need more physicians like this.
20:23 "But for me personally, as a physician, human health is a priority. And that is my first goal: to make sure that you are healthy and you put me out of business... that's really the goal. I WANT THIS DOCTOR! (Sadly, I live in Europe, so small chance of that happening...)
This was great. Dr. Batiste breaks it down beautifully and honestly.
I went on this diet, lost 35 lbs and a lot healthier. Heart blockage(s) were my wake up call.
Can people get off of blood pressure medication?
@@Kayerickawall40 Absolutely. A well balanced plant based food diet has quite literally cured diabetes, and coronary heart disease. In fact it is the only way doctors were able to reverse and cure these illnesses. Check out this cardiologist he speaks on these cases, and about coronary heart disease: ua-cam.com/video/FX58PyQwrcI/v-deo.html
@@Kayerickawall40 Yes, if you follow this same diet well, it could solve multiple diagnoses.
Wow is easy on the eyes, and speaks so kindly. I have seen him in person and he is all he says he does for patients.
Turned Vegan 5 years ago at 55, but did it for the animals…not a plant based diet…I’m Vegan.
However, I still have not gotten away from Vegan meats and cheeses, French fries, etc.
I have a goal…
We retire in about 6 months and are moving to the mountains of southern Mexico. We will be away from fast food places and most process foods. At that point I want to be on Dr Esselstyn’s diet…100%.
hey, I have a similar goal! we should talk!!!
Probably the best Veganlinked I have watched yet. Great content, great interaction, great emotion. This site has become my favorite diet and nutrition channel on UA-cam.
@@VeganLinked look forward to it. Joined the community!
The knowledge and engagement from Dr. Batiste is amazing. Great interview.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Loved this. recommending this to a friend who is having health issues and opened up about it and asked me what i did it!
Great information! I am also a whole food plant based vegan. I am enjoying this lifestyle and encouraging others to do the same. Thank you
Dr. Batiste, you are awesome: you’re intelligent, deeply knowledgeable, well spoken and enthusiastic … and also warm, approachable, realistic and likable. A WFPB rockstar! Great interview. Thank you for spending your valuable time sharing your message. Looking forward to your book!
He is remarkable, and highly magnetic!
Excellent interview with insight and perspective. Moderation is not the answer.
As always Dr. B tells it like it is and you can understand his message. Thanks doc for being a good human being and an excellent doctor.
Check out Dr. Milton Mills - about dairy and protein
He's great. Thanks for this
Great interview! Dr. Batiste is very impressive. Thanks for sharing this.
I deeply enjoyed this interview with this brilliant man!
Thanks for watching! Would love to come visit ya sometime and get you in the mix!
@@VeganLinked You are so kind! Lemme know when you're out this way, AZ.
Wow, great talk, new vegetarian here at 66 yrs. young.
Awesome, consider going vegan ❤

This is encouragement. I am 55 yr old woman in relatively great health ( we exercise and lift a little weights) but my 58 yr old hubby eats what I eat but bc of genetics finds it harder to keep his BP and cholesterol numbers right. So I am looking at us to stop eating meats (we already don't eat pork) and try your lifestyle Doc since you look and feel awesome and this seem to be the sentiment of others who eat plant base whole foods too...
Thank you again for your passion and gift to us. I am aware that honesty make the business you are in less profitable
Awesome! Good for you guys. Don't be fooled into thinking that life without meat or animal products is plain. Lots of awesome delicious and healthy meals you can prep at home. I wish you and your husband well!
Why at first did you decide not to eat pork?
Great video. Dr. Batiste explains things so well! I've learned so much from watching this! Can't wait to read the book "Selfish" Thank you!
5 years on the Esselstyn diet post heart attack. Doing great. Chose diet over stents. (It was not an emergency situation where stents have proven benefit.) Angina has reversed. Feel like I felt decades ago. If I can do it so can you.
EXCELLENT!!! Video..Plain and clear.. I understood everything Dr. Batiste explained!! 💯💓🙏👍Will this share this video with those that are open to listen and learn. Thank You Dr. Columbus D. Batiste !! I will buy your book!!!
I truly appreciate Dr Baptiste's kindness and @ 45:45 practices acceptance rather than being non-judgemental.
I'm a reformed eater as my cholesterol levels attest (GP supported my plant-based approach) so know first hand how important it is to gently change.
The interviewer asks very relevant questions….much appreciated
Thanks ❤
Fantastic! Thank you. Keep up your worthwhile work, please....you are saving lives.
You gotta love Dr. Batiste ❤️
Brilliant - very well spoken and explained - a true professional.

Such an amazing and informative interview! Thank you!
Been vegan for almost 6 years now,it totally changed my life, best decision I've ever made. I love interviews like this, very encouraging and motivating,as backsliding is always a risk.

Thanks doctor found for good information 👍
Thank-you! Great info from a wonderful Doctor ♥️
This interview was excellent. He is very knowledgeable. One of my long time questions I always had he answered. The people from way back then did they have head disease and things. Yes they did, wow
Listening while working… doing my exercises now.
So much wisdom here. It's refreshing thanks !!!
Thanks for this video. I will be following Dr Batiste II and wait patiently for his book...😇
Junkfoodetarian😂 Love it. His message is so clear, cogent and urgent, I wish the whole world could hear this.
Great interview! Great questions and answers!
Excellent conversation! 👈🌱💚💪✌️
I need a doctor like this in my life.
Read Dr Michael Greger's book How Not to Die and just eat fresh fruits and veggies and nuts and seeds and berries and melons and you won't need a doctor.
Amazing knowledge! This channel and the experts they talk to are fabulous!
Thank you and welcome!
Love this man. Thankyou for sharing this video

Excellent discussions.
Thanks.
I enjoyed this video, very informative. Being healthy in any form is a process and we have to work and learn what works and what does not work. 👍🏽👍🏽
Wow! Great gems from a great physician; keep it up doc!
All of them started on blood pressure
medications from about age 40 onward.
@@rozchristopherson648 can't be true what u say
@@Blu-Man If you do not want to go vegan or plant-based, or raw vegan, why are you watching this video?
Dr. Fuhrman is fearless at throwing the truth out. He was the first WPBF doc I found. I wince at the procedures your parents and Gma had to undergo, and pay for.
What an illuminating interview! Love Dr. Batiste's straightforward, but nonjudgemental style of sharing his expertise. Makes me want to get my heart checked out!
Great guy! Glad to know about him! 👍
Fabulous, I can't wait for your book💕🙏💕 brilliant and intriguing interview
This was such a fantastic interview!!
what a perfectly lovely man..........and gorgeous to look at too! I'm 77 and well. People ask me why do I look in my early 60's and am healthy. My answer: 40 years a vegan - one who does not eat junk food. Don't eat animals, don't steal baby calves, kids, lambs mother's milk. Eat plants and stay healthy. Good for you, the animals and the environment.
Wow! Where are you? I want to interview you if you would like that.
@@VeganLinked More than happy but I am guessing it would have to be by zoom as I am in the UK. Is that a problem?

Dr. Batiste is one of my favorite lifestyle medicine doctors. This was a great interview but it was distracting once the crowd was let out for lunch.
there is nothing that can be done about people leaving for lunch
