    Hi Linda. I've just discovered your channel and tutorials. I loved this technique and can't wait to give it a try! I have seen other artists use the tissue in abstract work, but not like you have done this, so I'm very excited! So pleased I have found your art, thanks for sharing! Best wishes Robyn

    Beautiful textures indeed! I want to try this gesso/tissue paper technique (and mess about with watercolors in general) to possibly enhance my airbrushing....especially backgrounds. Textures are something I've always striven to achieve as an airbrush artist to offset the typical smoothness of airbrushing. I already have some Arches 300 gm. hot-press, need gesso & tissue--I have no real watercolors but my airbrush paints are all water-based with the finest ground pigments, yes I know they're not quite the same but will have to do for now. I also use a lot of pearl/micas and metal leaf in my work--ever seen gold leaf used on a leather jacket? Thank you very much for showing us your technique here--it gives me much food for thought! Gotta finish my X-mas cards first, then I can experiment with this.

    Enjoyed watching! I'm still a new and learning artist, if you don't mind I have a couple of questions:
    1) if you're painting multiple layers of gesso (and tissue paper) over the canvas, what difference does it make if it's WC paper vs a regular canvas? (asking partially for the technical curiosity, and partially because WC paper can be so expensive and if it doesn't impact the final painting I might try this with something else XD).
    2) Can you use something else like pastel or charcoal for the final step of bringing out the texture from the tissue paper, or is there something special about the oil pastel that makes it ideal for this?
    Thank you so much in advance, I'm enjoying learning from you through these videos!

    • @lindabrownartist
      @lindabrownartist  3 роки тому +8

      Hi and thank you for your questions
      1) you can use watercolour paper/ cheaper watercolour paper/mixed media paper/cardboard/canvas/wool/canvas paper, as a substrate, the outcome will be basically the same
      2) you could definitely use charcoal/pastel/inktense blocks instead of oil pastels
      Have fun experimenting ⭐️

    • @lindabrownartist

    Its my understanding that pH levels play a role in how well the pigment keeps over time. Will the WC paper, the gesso and oil pastel alter the pH in a negitive way for the watercolor?

    • @lindabrownartist
      @lindabrownartist  2 роки тому +1

      I use only artists grade materials, not student grade. I have mixed media works that have withstood time, many years hanging in my home and friends homes too. They are still in pristine condition and true to colour. All framed with Matt boards and glass.
