    **********
    This video is all about the bidding/buying stage - what happens when you find a property you actually like. It is the most stressful part of the whole process, but it actually consists of only 4 steps and is not as scary as it seems! Stay until the end to see what it was like when we first got our keys!
    PS: The sun was doing some weird things during the recording of this video so sorry about the multiple lighting changes lolol

    Thank you for sharing your tips. Congratulations on your new home! It looks lovely.
    I'm wondering how you arranged the change from a gas stove to an induction one? (I heard that it would require changing the electrical wiring to make a separate socket controlled by a separate circuit breaker).

      Thanks so much! It indeed required quite a bit of effort, and we asked our builder to do this for us. We first had to check if the electricity loading of our apartment could handle the additional appliances, before changing the wiring. I recommend getting a professional to do this for you, rather than doing it yourself!

    I love the change in the bath/shower room.
    Thanks for sharing, It is always interesting to see how purchasing a house abroad looks likes. I bought my house in Japan, it is similar. The search phase is for sure easier.
    The Netherlands is good enough to endure the cooler weather for many more years?

      Thank you! Cool that you can compare the home buying process across 2 different places. Definitely plan to stay here a little longer :)

    Congrats Lisa!! Your apartment is beautiful. Could you please share how much I should expect to a bathroom renovation?

    • @LeesaYu
      @LeesaYu  4 місяці тому

      Thanks so much! Our bathroom renovation cost about 10K, not including tax and also included some additional kitchen renovation work too. All quotes I received were between 10-15K 😬

    Thanks very much for these very informative videos. For the structural inspection, do you have to find a company first at the start of the process, and are they able to quickly do the report once your bid is accepted? Here in the UK, it can take weeks & weeks to get those done as they have a big backlog of work. Also, for paying any excess money above a mortgage (or the entire purchase price if you don't need a mortgage), do the monies get paid via the notary or someone else?

      @LeesaYu  3 місяці тому +1

      In our case, our makelaar found a company for us but she only contacted them when our bid had been accepted. I think it does help to already have some companies in mind beforehand to speed up the process. It took only a few days to organise the inspection and get the report. Also yes, the money goes to a notary bank account :)

    Thanks Leesa, very informative video. Question, do you have to pay for the structural inspection and valuation inspection? If so, what are the costs? I know in Australia those are generally covered by the lender.

    • @LeesaYu
      @LeesaYu  4 місяці тому +1

      You actually have to pay for these separately here, although both are tax deductible. The structural inspection cost us 390 EUR, and the valuation inspection cost us 675 EUR. Hope that helps!

    Was the €18k including the bid or separate from the expenses you paid?

    • @LeesaYu
      @LeesaYu  Місяць тому +1

      Additional expenses paid (not part of the bid)!

    • @climbersisyphus
      @climbersisyphus Місяць тому

      Wow! But they weren’t all upfront costs right? It’s a combination of some costs before you got the house and after you got the house and started doing maintenance etc?

    • @LeesaYu
      @LeesaYu  Місяць тому +1

      @climbersisyphus I assume you’re referring the additional upfront costs that I mentioned in my 3rd video. If you go to 01:00 of that video and pause it, you will be able to see how that figure was calculated. Some of the costs are one-off fixed costs, some of the costs are recurring (indicated in the video too). Hope that clears it up for you!
