@@yTcensored24 yep. I recently played syndicate and am not a fan of the dual protagonists.. Ubisoft needs to pick a singular protagonist, pick a gender and one voice actor. IMO origins was the last decent main line story. Mirage was great. Valhalla and Odyssey aren't assassin creed games. Their RPGs with Assassin's in them. IMO! Don't @ me haha
I understand how long the videos with this level of polish take (even with all the IGN practice) and appreciate the work and well thought out critiques. I am an AC fan and it all sounds like delicious fast food gaming to me - 🍔
Or Ubisoft+. That's really my preferred way to play anything from EA or Ubi. I don't usually replay games, so it's a good fit to jump in for a single month, bounce, and take a look again when something new drops.
8:20, hunting wild animals wasn’t a common thing in 1500s Japan. When animals were hunted they were under specific conditions like nobility doing it as a sport. Makes sense that Ubisoft got rid of hunting as a whole then.
While I can understand *some* of the backlash over this game, I really don't understand the complaints about "historical accuracy." This is an Assassin's Creed game - this series has played it fast and loose with historical accuracy since the very first game. The entire *CONCEPT* of the Assassin's as they exist in this series is just wildly absurd from an historical standpoint. We've had major historical figures in these games since the original AC and very few of them have been depicted in an historically accurate way. It just seems odd to me that only *now* are people making a big deal over it. Calm down. You either like these games or you don't - but crying over historical accuracy in the AC series after nearly 20 years feels more than a little disingenuous.
@ Nah, I *know* why - I'm just not saying why because then they'll get all self-righteous about it and try to "explain" to me why they're not *actually* doing what they're *actually* doing. It'd just be another "Roman salute" vs... that *other* kinda salute situation and I don't have time to engage in that.
Ya I know, first world problems and all but it is exhausting to constantly see the comments you’re talking about. I actually really like disagreeing with people if they’re arguing in good faith and there’s an interesting discussion to be had. That’s just not the case with a lot of the complaints you see posted today though.
I myself just wanted fictional Japanese male and female, who interact with real historical characters, it has always been like that so it was what I was expecting, even more because the Japanese aesthetics seemed perfect for an Assassins Creed like that. For this reason and the whole "DEI" thing Yasuke seems a lil bit like a stretch but whatever. There's not much to it, it's just that, a question of personal tastes.
@@ryhanon7I agree with some of y'all it is ridiculous to get this angry at a game there's plenty of Japanese games with samurais in it pick one and choose one if you don't want to play assassin's Creed shadows
@ 1:22 Yasuke is wearing armor with the Templar Cross. The Jesuits, trying to gain influence over the land, will be the Templars in this game. That's my thinking.
Looks pretty good, I usually hold off before buying these days with games coming out unfinished, especially at £70 well £40 now that I’ve moved to pc 😊 and that rule will be prevalent here also. But it’s looking pretty dam cool. Great preview Destin 😊
I think I'll still enjoy it. Odyssey is my favorite because of personal interest and it sounds like if nothing else, I'll appreciate for the world and atmosphere.
I haven't played Assassin's Creed since Black Flag... I'm interested but with how loaded this year is already I'll probably get it at a discount in a year or two. Heck I still have games that I bought last year that I havent gotten to
If AC Shadows is meant to save Ubisoft, they need to put a 'For Sale' sign up now. The game looks outdated. Combat looks similar to Valhalla, and assets are reused from Odyssey (the kick), which shows that there are lot of new devs at ubisoft and the creative vision for the game is lacking in quality and experience. Ghost of Tsushima looks a lot better than this game. After watching the gameplay, the feel doesn’t look right. Enemies look like sponges. This will be the first AC game I have missed since 2007 when AC1 launched."
Just saying, there was never this much obsession with the historical inaccuracies when there has been so many historical inaccuracies in previously games in the series, but we all rolled with it for the most part. The recent high level obsession is because yasuke is black. When it's Tom Cruise though no one cares or the character in nioh lol
Every time I play an Assassin's Creed game, I try turning off as many HUD elements as possible without disrupting the gameplay. It baffles me how much unnecessary crap they have on the screen. Like, let people discover things on their own, man. Ubisoft definitely caters to the brain rot generation the most.
When people start complaining about “historical accuracy” in a game that has frequently broke all sense of realism since the first game, you know you’re about to hear some uneducated shit.
Well...that's what happens when companies shove forced diversification when it dosen't belong. It's rare I play a game and a gay character NPC doesn't try and Fk my character. It wouldn't be so bad if these romantic options influenced gameplay or progression, but it's just "there", "pointless" and "annoying". Kind of like a constantly nagging wife
Thanks for the preview Destin. Ubisoft open worlds have always been their stong point. Their worlds have always almost perfectly realised the time period. Its their characters and story that have been a consistent disappointment for me personally. It seems that this is no different than the last few entries. I'll be honest, I'm not rooting for Ubisoft here, especially with how they have conduted themselves around their multiple controversies lately. But MAYBE this time I'll be different. I'm not getting my hopes up for another disappointment. Prob will be getting it when its in deep sale a year or two from now.
So sad, video games are art and should be respected as such. A company such as Ubisoft that is unashamed of their uninspired yearly drops is bad for the art form and the industry as a whole… video games being cookie cutter then puked out should not be welcomed.
The problem with Shadows from the beginning has been the gaslighting. Ubisoft said in that quote they never intended the game to be historically accurate, meanwhile one of their presentation videos directly says the game is based on historical fact. Especially around Yasuke. It is the lying to their audience that has pissed everyone off. Everyone can smell bull shit and the way Ubisoft handled Shadow just reeks. So much so that it was brought before Japan's political class, and their anger was expressed in their government. People say it is just because Yasuke is black. That is just a deflection as the real problem is the lying and misrepresentations.
This game is Historical Fiction - like every other AC game. Are you telling me the events of 2 and portrayals of that italy match the thoughts and feelings of current italians? Or that Connor and the handling of native americans didn't come with the same critiques?
@SpazHZ jumped straight to commenting without reading, I see. Of course, it is fiction. However, from the start, Ubisoft portrayed Yasuke as historical fact. A departure from the fictional characters they created for the other games.
@briant2438 Nope - I read it. Where does it say historical fact? All I can find are quotes directly from the game devs saying the following - as quoted from polygon "But developers at Ubisoft also stressed that while they have “put significant effort into ensuring an immersive and respectful representation of Feudal Japan,” the developers’ “intention has never been to present any of our Assassin’s Creed games, including Assassin’s Creed Shadows, as factual representations of history, or historical characters.” That sounds like someone made a mistake if it really says "Historical Fact" somewhere. sorry! Ubisoft does not deserve sales for this game. Emersion is lost with main character. There are seven rules of Samurai. Rule 4: Respect. A samurai should always respect his enemy. A samurai respects his opponent before and after the fight. Even if a samurai kills his opponent, he is very respectful to the corpse.. So decapitating every opponent does not make sense to the way of the samurai. 👎
The game looks worse than I even expected, I am not surprised its been delayed twice. It still has the ridiculous level system attached to enemies & gear, this is pathetic. You shouldn't require a level 25 katana to kill a level 25 enemy, that makes no sense. A katana is a katana, if you take it through someone's head they're done, a few core slashes on the body, they're done, a levelling feature attached to the assassins creed games has never & will never make sense. It was solely added on Origins for 1 reason only, which is to make it possible for them to add an in game monetised shop that could sell you better gear. This game will flop & will be poorly reviewed, I am calling a 7/10 on most paid review sites & lower on metacritic & true fan reviews that aren't sponsored. Once we are in April, everyone will forget that game channels have been hyping this game for the last 2 years & focus will shift to the next unreleased disappointment that we have on the horizon. Modern era gaming is a joke & we have review channels & gaming media to blame for it more than anyone.
Skipping this one. They fumbled everything with this game so hard to this point, I don’t think it will be worth it until it’s like $10 and fully patched. By then I probably won’t care.
