- Reborn baby Ellowyn helps me show you guys my process of cleaning vinyl, adjusting limbs, and restoring the mohair on a reborn baby doll. I do this about every 6 months with my dolls. Always keep in mind that cloth bodies should never be submerged and small portions of any kind of soap, shampoo, or conditioner are always best!

Good tips for Genesis Heat Set painted reborns, however, I am an air dry paint artist and teach classes in that and for air dry I only suggest a damp cloth, no soap to clean the baby. Especially any products with any type of alcohol is really bad for the paints as I'm sure you know lol. Thanks for the tips :)
Yeah there are so many harmful soaps out there, even for GHSP! Dawn has the least chemicals, which I discovered in learning how to paint silicone. I actually did mention something about heat-set dolls only in the beginning but ended up cutting it out when I was trying to trim the video from 35 minutes to 15! Lol :) I'm gonna add that to the description. I'm hoping to try air dry paints one day! So much healthier for you! Just nervous about the quality after working on my art for 2 years with heat set paints. I love that I have babies in my collection that I made myself and I can rest assured my dolls will last because of it, but air dry is new and unfamiliar territory and that's always scary! What air dry paints would you recommend? I've been looking into Melissa George's. I've heard you can use GHSP with it and I like the idea of getting a few colors to try for some layers, you know?
***** I actually use a high quality acrylic and mix different mediums. Mediums are very important mixing in with your paints so it will adhere to the vinyl and help it to cure. You will have to play around with different mediums until you find one you really like. I use liquitex. I give my babies a week to cure. Once they cure there is NO getting this paint off unless you really scrub with rubbing alcohol. I can still dress them, etc and send them off but I tell the new mom to make sure they don't put anything but a damp cloth on them after about a week just to make sure. So far, after several years, these paints haven't faded or peeled or cracked. They are wonderful. My mother is on oxygen 24/7 which is why we went that route. Now we teach classes on air dry painting with reborns. We love it! Good luck! Once you try it, you won't want to go back...sooo much faster to reborn but they do dry quickly so just keep your sponge off sponges and full brushes with you to tap off after you apply the paint. :)
Oh man I wish I could afford to experiment! Maybe in the next couple of months. Right now every baby needs to be up to par with my current standards since it is an integral part of my income.
I used a magnetic pacifier on my reborn but underneath the pacifier was putty and it looks like the paint got rubbed off on the bottom lip. What can be done to restore it without messing up the reborn? She was painted with genesis heat set paints. She's an AA realborn. Thanks.
If your baby has a bit of paint and of bit of hair would the paint come off when you apply the water even if it’s just the smallest bit?

I bought a reborn/silicone doll from a lady. The dolls legs and feet had discoloration. Looked grayish/blueish and sicky. Not sure why. Maybe was close to window and had sunlight(?). Is there a way to fix color and stickiness?

I make my own reborns, including her :) eBay is nice because the buyers are pretty well-protected. I would just ask around for some well-known, trusted artists. Mandy Hannon, Stephanie Ortiz, Jackie Ortiz, and myself are all custom artists.

I heard have Not to wipe them with water but instead use a New/or clean dry cloth only and No baby powders, thou not sure as I've not put this to the test but tobe on the safe side I don't think I would. Beautiful Dolly. God bless.

Dylan Hendrick no, sorry, she's one of a kind and a keeper! Her kit is the Tate sculpt by Andrea Arcello, though, and maybe you can find someone to paint a fair girl with dark hair from the kit. Just don't ask the artist to replicate or anything, some find that rude.

Is it okay to put baby lotion on the doll after washing??

A child applied actual make-up (just cover-up) on my reborn's face. My reborn actually looks BETTER! However, will this cause problems as time goes on? I'm not sure if I should try to clean it or leave it the way it is. Can anyone who KNOWS answer me?
Connie Miller don't keep it on for to long. it may cause more dust , or get in the dolls eyes or holes.
Connie Miller Take it off as soon as possible! Certain make ups will stain a reborn's vinyl, but unevenly. And it won't stay on. So you'll be left with uneven spots of makeup stain. And I cannot stress enough that nothing like that should be left on your reborn.

I wold be to afraid to do this 😳 I keep hands and feet covered. I dont allow people to touch his face because the oil can come of your hands onto your doll.

I wouldn't be interested in painting this kit again because I had too many issues with it. But Twin A is kind of similar. So it Anastasia by Olga Auer. I can do either one of those with painted dark hair like Ellowyn's (though I don't do the rooting) for $750+ship.

gina tautua I highly doubt you will be able to find a doll for that price, used or otherwise. I know of no one who sells for less than $350. Especially bigger babies like that, ESPECIALLY with hair.
