I love this song 🎵 ❤️, they rarely play it.I wish that they would play it more 🎉🎉. Some songs are worth hearing more and this is one of them 🎉🎉

Gee whiz...good ol' Tom Snyder, host of NBC's much missed "Tomorrow" show, aired Mon-Fri at 1:00am. Snyder was a wonderful interviewer, asked quirky, well-honed questions of his guests. I forget whether it was live or taped, but he set a great vibe with his warm, laid-back patter and no live audience, which worked beautifully for that time slot. And a w-i-i-i-d-e variety of guests...like John Mellencmp (aka: John Cougar and The Zone). This single, from his second LP and "Sugar Marie" from his first LP, are standouts. Both have that pining, wistful sound, yet are rarely, if ever performed live. Still, they bring me back to about four decades ago, early 1980s, on the radio of my crappy-but-perfect Datsun B210 Hatchback, as I drive home with the windows open on a warm, breezy summer night in the wee, a.m. hours after an evening of marijuana-fueled, impromptu sex with a very fetching someone I'd never see again. "Ain't Even Done With The Night"...32-inch waist, 145-ish pounds...my boxers are on backwards under my jeans...Marlboro sparks bouncing off the dark, two-lane road surface as I replay in my head that evening's sexcapades And my WHOLE. LIFE. AHEAD OF MEEEeeeee.....
Remember that feeling? Thought so. 😁

Another gem of a song, from an under rated American original. Like a lot of Americans, he is constantly battling a perception and coming from behind to prove himself. I think a lot of us identify with that. Therein is one of the appeals of Mellencamp.

He is such a guy! Can't dance, but I bet he could change your oil. He was needed during The Flock of Seagulls era. His best and most overlooked song. Five years later and it would have gotten the attention it deserved.

@BananasInMyPassway I know it was probably a rhetorical question but I just had to answer: No, not possible, he's about as adorable as it gets in this clip ;) In the actual video to this song he reminds me of Michael Pare' when he plays Eddie in Eddie and the Cruisers. His hair is all wet and is reminiscent of Eddies Greased back look. Check it out if you haven't seen it yet.

@onedoo : I wonder what it is that made you say that..I think the oposite..
Finally a singer who had a future as a big idol, yet he decided to take it someplace else..
Coller than that,is hard to imagine

Like what he does at 3:37 or so......you know what that says, music, rock n'roll
is fun. Early 80's look to it of course, cause that's when it was, but how bout that: comeon, give a great live performance, and enjoy yourself, with a real singer and a real band. Not a bad idea.
