Price is way out of wack. Emulation issues with screen tearing. I thought I noticed the bilinear filtering still on this. It is used to mask the emulation issues(screen tearing….etc). Great review and much respect for buying this to show the reality of the situation.

I was disappointed because there was no speed settings for Galaga or Pac-Man, but I figured no big deal since there was a micro SD card slot allowing for me to add games. Once I saw that you couldn't, there was no way I was buying this. Thank you for the video!
Rolling Thunder is really fun. Just started getting into it. Very hard but fun, and some of the best music ever. This thing is a glorified plug 'n play with a cheap pillow slapped on it, and charging $180 for it is absolutely insulting. It should be $50 tops. I don't like when A1Up does stuff like this that feels slimy and predatory.
Yeah … I like the concept and the presentation (except for the optional side bars - agree that they should have been customized for each included game.). I think this thing will sell to people who just want a convenient way for their kids to play these classic games and aren’t interested in cabinets. The initial price is a little high, but I bet WalMart will be selling scads of these things ‘discounted” to $99 by Labor Day!
I really don't like that this thing uses disposable batteries. It's one thing for devices like flashlights to use batteries, since you want an easily swappable power source for emergencies, but there's no reason for a recreational item to ever need them. In an item like this, the need for batteries just creates waste, and that can be a problem if those batteries aren't properly disposed of.
I bought the Atari one...that list of games, so easy to access with the specialty controllers was just too much to pass up. I knew I would regret it if the product disappeared and I didn't get one. I'll wait on the Pac Man one, those games are not as big a deal to me (except Galaxian and Dig Dug)
Woah. $180. Just goes to show A1U is not shy about ripping off their customers. I’ve gotten similar things to this in the past for my mom for less than $50. Makes me question their pricing on everything. Like those damn stools being nearly $100. I’ve seen stools with the same exact design going for less than half that price which means it probably even less to manufacture them. So A1U has like at least a $70 markup. I get they have to license the graphics and share profits but that’s still crazy high. Especially since the stool is barley comfortable.
I got mine for $86 from HSN. Just had to get a HSN Card from them to get $50 off my first purchase which I used to buy this Couchcade. Makes it much more worth the price. They have it on sale for $129.99 for anyone that doesn't want to get an HSN card but to me it was worth getting.
It's stuff like this is why true Hobbyist don't take A1Up seriously and that theyre just a toy company . Don't forget Micro Center released their Atari themed Pi3 couchcade version with fight stick, trackball, and spinner for $199. It's also a way better built than this A1Up version.

I just want a beanbag mod for my atgames legends mini, LOL! this seems cool but even at full price the gamer mini is definitely the better deal, you get a lot more just out of the box even before you get into adding additional games! I do give them credit for the cushion idea though.... that ending though, LMAO! XD
Fair play to you for going out and buying this so the rest of us don't have to. I really think the absence of a rechargeable battery pack is either lazy or cheap, the USB is on the back on the control deck so it must have been though of at one stage and then they decided not to. Like you say, the price is WAY too high for what it is and there are other devices already established in the market that do things much better. Not only is this a waste of money to buy, it was a waste of money for Arcade 1up to design and manufacture

Aside from alllll the objective points you made about it, my grandmother had a few of those lap desks in the 80s and I just can't stop seeing those when I look at this!! I have to admit though, this came out of left field. I'm admittedly curious what "new" thing A1up will come up with next to play Pac Man on!!!!

Still a nice option for those looking to play some arcades on the TV. I'm still holding out for the toiletcade that's rumoured for 2023. That has to be next now that we have baby and couchcade right?
I dont see why you would want one of these over an Atgames legends mini. It doesnt have the ‘nostalgia’ of the arcade1up cabinets which arcade1up is known for.

What is in the guts…can you add a raspberry pi to it to add games? Kind of like switching out the motherboard in the countercade? Did you do a breakdown of the internals?

I love that it had what seems like Real T-Molding on the side, and I love that you CAN get to the Joystick and Buttons and upgrade whatever you want. It isn't for me but I would definitely feel comfortable getting this as a gift for someone to have a worth while gaming experience.

Quite surprised arcade 1up hasn't done a Williams arcade package.. You know. DEFENDER. STARGATE. JOUST. JOUST 2. ROBOTRON. SINISTAR. My only guess why that hasn't happened.. This seems closer to what those weird 6-button joypads they tried should had been from the getgo. But I feel like charging nearly double what you can get an AtGames Legends joystick for is ridiculous.
I can clearly see the game delay when moving Pac-Man around the turns. That problem there makes this completely unplayable! Fewer beans in the bag? Done. Dual boot to allow more value? Fuggetaboutit. Not doing a custom UI that's actually readable? Awesome. Side art option? Sure, but don't you DARE make one for each game. But you nailed it, Pdubs... it's way, WAYYYYY overpriced when you can get a Legends Gamer for $99 and a Legends Mini for $50 (and no, they're not sold out... I've bought one of each with the past, couple weeks... Gamestop restocks frequently). The only thing missing from those? Well, there's not a lot beans in 'em.
And with the release of arcade 1up Tron Dragons lare and space ace.. definitely quite surprised me.. I would definitely own those if I could afford it.. But they can only go with NAMCO only for so long.. They need to start deep diving into other arcade manufacturers of the time.. ATARI WILLIAMS CENTURI STERN you know berserk and frenzy.. Seems like a good idea but, you're correct on the price. $100 - $120 should be the price point. It will drop in price once they realize that people won't buy these. Especially since you can't add games.

Great review for me $100 is reasonable because at games you get more options better price when on sale it’s a pass for me I am starting to get agitated with arcade 1 up I buy there product that just comes out 6 weeks later on sale I slowly starting to drift away from them they need to set fair prices keep them at that

Great honest review video! I agree that for what it is, it's a bit overpriced. I think the concept is great, but surely they could add several other titles to entice their clientele. What I would actually love to see is Arcade 1 up come out with ROADBLASTERS!!! I may be dreaming.
My Atari unit arrived. The trackball and spinner controls are unplayably jumpy. I put in a support ticket to see if it’s a known issue. Button game asteroids is fine
No Tate mode, can’t add games, limited other options and they want $200 for it. As we say in London, they’re having a bubble (rhyming slang is having a bubble bath = having a laugh).
PDubs, I wonder, since Couchcade does come with a pairing mode, if you could pair it with the older Mega Man TV unit. Then you can use the Couchcade controller to play the extra games :) vgv

can add more games with new hdmi modules, but the trackball/spinner one is pretty much what it is (and my favorite) the other one, they made the controller too limited for 179.99
I just bought this one for my son and the other Atari one from QVC for $129 each. He has low vision, so I thought this would be a good fit for him (even though he doesn't seem to have trouble with regular game systems), but he also gets a kick out of the old Atari games, so I think he will like this for what it is. BTW...I still have my original Atari game console with many games! We used to plug it in every now and then, but not sure if it will work on the new TVs or if there is a way for conversion? Legends Gamer Mini with coinopsx is more worthwhile. You mentioned audio lag on this. I'm not surprised.... I was wondering if you also noticed similar Audio lag on Legends Gamer devices? I have a few Gamer pros, and they all have a slight bit of Audio delay/lag. I have tv on gamer mode and usb connected. It seems like it's something easy to correct but no one makes a big deal out of it.
I noticed a bunch of these arcade1ups, legends gamer and ultimates, have that ever SLIGHT AUDIO LAG. But it's something most of us live with, since everyone likes the overall presentation vs the perfect authentic performance. (I know most of us wish AtGames and Arcade1up would pay more attention and fix this important detail about Audio Lag, & then we wouldn't have to pull out another device-Pi4, PC, etc...).
Any chance you could get this device to wirelessly (or wired) connect to your older Pac-Man HDMI console? Would be curious if it could control added games to those older devices. I'm interested in the Atari Couchcade (mainly for Lunar Lander and adding Warlords since I already have two of the older HDMI consoles) but thinking I might end up getting the similar Atari controller being sold by Microcenter instead.

The Arcade1up controller should work with this that they sell with the other hdmi consoles

This seems closer to what those weird 6-button joypads they tried should had been from the getgo.
But I feel like charging nearly double what you can get an AtGames Legends joystick for is ridiculous.
I can clearly see the game delay when moving Pac-Man around the turns. That problem there makes this completely unplayable! Out of the few reviews out there that is the problem everyone is complaining about! Do companies actually try their own product out before going public with it? And they're asking $180 to boot?😱

But you nailed it, Pdubs... it's way, WAYYYYY overpriced when you can get a Legends Gamer for $99 and a Legends Mini for $50 (and no, they're not sold out... I've bought one of each with the past, couple weeks... Gamestop restocks frequently). The only thing missing from those? Well, there's not a lot beans in 'em.

Hello, my dad grew up playing Pacman and I've been eyeing this as a Christmas gift for him. Would you recommend something else that can still get him that arcade gaming experience?

Great review for me $100 is reasonable because at games you get more options better price when on sale it’s a pass for me I am starting to get agitated with arcade 1 up I buy there product that just comes out 6 weeks later on sale I slowly starting to drift away from them they need to set fair prices keep them at that

@@PDubsArcadeLoft I probably got the wrong make, I got an Ex 2, and the 9 seems have a bit more promise. I went this route in lieu of the raspberry pi, the pi worked super well but they're getting kinda funny to find now.

Great honest review video! I agree that for what it is, it's a bit overpriced. I think the concept is great, but surely they could add several other titles to entice their clientele. What I would actually love to see is Arcade 1 up come out with ROADBLASTERS!!! I may be dreaming.

My Atari unit arrived. The trackball and spinner controls are unplayably jumpy. I put in a support ticket to see if it’s a known issue. Button game asteroids is fine
No Tate mode, can’t add games, limited other options and they want $200 for it. As we say in London, they’re having a bubble (rhyming slang is having a bubble bath = having a laugh).

I wonder, since Couchcade does come with a pairing mode, if you could pair it with the older Mega Man TV unit. Then you can use the Couchcade controller to play the extra games :)

Worth a try though :) If they ever make a Golden Tee Couchcade, and make sure it doesn't come with Wifi, so it doesn't break after you get it, I'm all in :P :) I'd love to play Golden Tee on my 120" Projector Screen :)

Community members have loaded the hdmi console firmware onto the pacman 49th anniversary cabinet but the controls were not reaponsive
@@AlphaTrion92 $180 must be due to this blasted inflation going around on everything...Maybe in a pre-2022 era this would have been priced more appropriately around $129.99...but yeah wait for the half price clearances next year for around $90. Pac-man's definitely the best icon that sells.
For that price I can buy an Xbox one on Offerup. Or I can buy a slightly used Arcade1up cabinet.

I just bought this one for my son and the other Atari one from QVC for $129 each. He has low vision, so I thought this would be a good fit for him (even though he doesn't seem to have trouble with regular game systems), but he also gets a kick out of the old Atari games, so I think he will like this for what it is. BTW...I still have my original Atari game console with many games! We used to plug it in every now and then, but not sure if it will work on the new TVs or if there is a way for conversion? Thank you for your review....it was very helpful!

Toyed with idea of adding the older box with crap controller and this deck to see if they would work as it has the usb a connections. So my thought was to just see if the usb micro would plug into and play. I dropped a 15"dell in the thing with a pi lol Anyway, thanks for your response. Caleb Williams or keep fields? lol

Too expensive. Make it $99 or less and it becomes a maybe. Also, should let you add games via the micro SD card slot. Lame they removed that capability. Pass for me.

Legends Gamer Mini with coinopsx is more worthwhile. You mentioned audio lag on this. I'm not surprised.... I was wondering if you also noticed similar Audio lag on Legends Gamer devices? I have a few Gamer pros, and they all have a slight bit of Audio delay/lag. I have tv on gamer mode and usb connected. It seems like it's something easy to correct but no one makes a big deal out of it.
I noticed a bunch of these arcade1ups, legends gamer and ultimates, have that ever SLIGHT AUDIO LAG. But it's something most of us live with, since everyone likes the overall presentation vs the perfect authentic performance. (I know most of us wish AtGames and Arcade1up would pay more attention and fix this important detail about Audio Lag, & then we wouldn't have to pull out another device-Pi4, PC, etc...).
Any chance you could get this device to wirelessly (or wired) connect to your older Pac-Man HDMI console? Would be curious if it could control added games to those older devices. I'm interested in the Atari Couchcade (mainly for Lunar Lander and adding Warlords since I already have two of the older HDMI consoles) but thinking I might end up getting the similar Atari controller being sold by Microcenter instead.
I tried to pair it and it wouldn't work. I need to try again
