    Q. What came to your mind? Let me hear your thoughts.

What came to my mind? How important was the Dragon Girl! And how in that moment, Śāriputra is very healed in his perspective about Devadatta. But is challenged in the moment , to overcome his prejudice about Dragon Girl! Then again, I can change my perspective to say "I would not fire Śāriputra, if he was at my job. I would have him into my office for a little talk." But the thing is, Śāriputra is having us in HIS office for a little talk. So yes, it turns out that she has to transform into a HE , to be taken seriously. This has a lot of implications in itself. But should we have to change for Buddha? No, in the previous chapter of the Lotus Sutra, we already know that if we want to see someone, we have to be willing to see all of their past lives. And we know also, to understand Maitreya, is to understand Fame Seeker and all of this. So Śāriputra had a big challenge to overcome. But when we are in the Lotus Assembly, this is being acted out "LIVE" and in real time before us. And that is very useful sangha, because many times we will see prejudice being acted out "LIVE and in real time before us. Sometimes by someone whom we think is very wise and perfected, makes it clear that there is a "Flaw" in their character, but it arises to be corrected!

Thank you, Lotus Sutra Lab, for your excellent presentations. I never quite understood the Devadatta story until you unpacked it. Also, because of your suggestion, I ordered the book by Brook Ziporyn!

You've got the point. Thanks for your cheerful feedback. Two recommendations:
      1) English translation of the Threefold Lotus Sutra www.amazon.com/gp/product/4333006929/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=4333006929&linkCode=as2&tag=mindfulnessfi-20&linkId=3799285303bfa62116c81ad331eebd86
      2) Brook Ziporyn's presentation on the philosophical implications of the Lotus Sutra: "Emptiness and Omnipresence" (If you are willing to take a serious philosophical dive into the Lotus Sutra): iupress.org/9780253021120/emptiness-and-omnipresence/
Looking forward to knowing what you think of these books! Brook Ziporyn is genius. I admire and love his works so much.

You have a Nam in front of your Myoho Renge Kyo. You must be a Nichiren Buddhist.

I don't remember what I showed in my video, but it should be written as "Namu" Myoho Range Kyo. I don't know much about Nichiren. My presentation is rather more or less a combination of thought I learned from Chinese Tiantai via Brook Ziporyn. And also from Gene Reeves and Nikkyo Niwano. Thanks for attention my video. 🙏
