I’ll be taking note when I go shopping Ian. You’re such a natural story-teller. Unbelievable that your Mum went into the bath when you were writhing in pain!!! Poor lad. Have a good week Ian 🐝
Hi Ian. Another great video, thanks. My partner is from Hyde (Manchester) and we particularly love hearing your accent! In this video you mentioned supermarkets not selling as wide a range of the basics (aka baked beans) anymore, and that got me thinking. I take a keen interest in what our only supermarkets stock, particular as we live on an island (Shetland) and have very limited choice. I think what you are witnessing is the food industry switching from selling products which have a finite limit to what customers will pay for them, to the treat kind (aka make you feel better) which so far has no limit in price and also has the added bonus of being a lot cheaper to produce, so a much bigger profit margin. Check out it for yourself. Count how many aisles now have either chilled or frozen cabinets compared to the past. How many aisles stock now only seasonal items (aka Christmas/ Easter). And check out the amount of shelf space now taken up by ultra-processed food (ie very unhealthy) appealing to vegetarians/ vegans. What is happening is the end of food as nourishment as we know it. Time for us all to get back to growing our own.
Hi thanks my accent is a mixture of Lancashire Bolton and broad Yorkshire Barnsley i grew up in Bolton then moved to barnsley when i was 19 then lived there until i was about 36ish, i think there is definitely shortages of food at the supermarkets when i order from asda online when my food arrives most of it is substitutes.. I’m hoping to grow a lot of my own food next summer in the paddock
Shortages? Take Sainsbury for example, I like a good Liquor. They have completely changed there beverages section lay out. They advertise a Benedictine Liquor (Honey flavour, so nice) on their site but you cant find it instore. They are so much smaller know you mention😢 it.
hi Paul, i hope your keeping well, there seems to be shortages everywhere, everytime i do an online asda order when it arrive more than half of the order is substitutes
