I praise Miyaa for her honesty and coming to the realization that she needed to be herself. There was a UA-camr who said a few years ago about being a foreigner in South Korea, particularly Seoul, is that you have to have very thick skin and really love yourself to survive there. Korea's beauty culture/standards are very influential. I visited Seoul for a month this past summer. I knew about the mirrors on the subways before I arrived. I thought it was absurd at how many mirrors are in that city. It was particularly bothersome, to me, seeing quite a few people staring at themselves in the mirrors for several minutes before snapping back into reality. Before you know it, towards the end of the month I was checking myself in those mirrors and I said to myself, "What the heck is going on with me?".

I think black people should look at Korea and use that as an example. South Korea was the world's failure in 1960, and annoying backwards country til the 1990s, and only recently has South Korea reached a high enough status so that we now have people who want to learn Korean, interested in Korean culture and even having Korean physical features idealized (all because of kdramas and kpop, which are nothing more than by products of economic sophistication). 20 years ago there were 0 koreaboos, now millions. If all black people focused on making making one African country, say Nigeria, an economic powerhouse, black people would be admired, black beauty would be idealized, and everyone would want to travel to Africa to see true African culture. Instead of overseas Africans going to Europe or Asia, they would be spending their energy, money and vacationing on Africa. Remember, only 20 years ago, all other asians thought koreans were ugly hillbillies /w no manners. Some hotels in Asia even excluded Koreans from admittance. The moral is, don't beg for acceptance, kick butt and make people respect you.
@@larrynoh8343 I like to hear this. If Blacks made Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Kenya, DRC and South Africa genuine first world countries, the Black diaspora would have a sanctuary. Dubai was also nothing 40 years ago.

As long as black women ditch dreadlocks, cornrows, and our African kinky hair or going completely bald instead of these fake replicas of their master's, nothing will change. This woman embarked on a Korean journey because she saw a black woman married to a Korean man, that's some serious inferiority complex manifesting as curiosity and open-mindedness. I can talk all day about this but I'll just stop here and say, let's embrace our own, our kind. The world will adjust.

Its about Korea, not Japan here, and she went into this with a very naive outlook. She should have looked up how east asias attitude towards foreigners, especially people with dark skin, is like. They even discriminate other east asian based on old conflicts or their looks. The beauty standards of korea are pretty much the opposite of what she looks like so you have to go in there with thick skin if you wanna make it.
Is it me or is there a theme to all the type of African Americans that go to Japan? In more ways than one, whether it be emotionally, mentally, socially or physically? With the exception of maybe two or three I've seen in this series the rest seem to have this underlying theme in common. LOL...just an honest observation.
Everybody isn't meant to interact with a culture up close. Alot of people would've been better admiring the "good" parts from a distance about a culture, so they wouldn't also have to deal with negative parts about that culture. Being open minded to accept other people and their culture don't make you entitled to receive the same treatment from others.
It's amazing the hate you dudes seem to have with women, cause I am positive you ain't just hating on this interviewee. This is her story, let's just listen. And it seems it isn't just Asians that hate on black folks. We do a good job of that amongst ourselves. Sad.....

We need to build Africa. Our people need to come back home man. Our ancestors will sleep easy when the exodus happens.
@Patrice Sankara: 💯 percent facts!!! My brother. ✌Peace
@@patricesankara3081 exactly. My personal view is the countries in Africa that can really shine are Nigeria and strangely enough Rwanda (yes, the country that had a genocide in the 90s). Rwanda has been developing quite well
@@larrynoh8343 Rwanda and Botswana are making progress!

Seems to be working well for Nigerians in South Africa...oh wait

My sister want to go to Africa in 2020. She would like for me to join her. I would like to save up to ensure that she can travel to the Motherland, that is her true desire.🥰
Turns out they were saying 네가 and/or 니가. Common words used in Korea that sounds like the n word.
I love her hair...I wonder how long she has been natural.
By now, I think we know..
Anti blackness is not our problem to fix. We must continue to exist unapologetically.
???? what does this mean
I am sorry but Asia is not the place for black people to "fit in," because by nature those people are antiblack. I would like to see more educated brothers and sisters (doctors, engineers, teachers, etc) take their talent to Africa and help build the continent.
Cheers🍺
have you been to make such an assessment?
@@goutfromporkrinds9516 Yes, I lived there for many years.

@@goutfromporkrinds9516 Well this youngladys story along with countless others on this very channel and in the U.S. says alot. I have even work with many of them and witness their behavior and that in itself is another story.

gout from pork rinds People like you with incredibly low self esteem and extremely low iq will never get it.
How did she do her hair😍
Yes, if you have to try to fit in, you'll never fit in. Just be yourself.
Why do we have to always try to show people that we are good people and ,not what the media portray us as.also remember we don’t Control major media. We have to always remember that it’s not our job to make people see us as we are.
I'm pretty sure she is talking about Charlie the woman you taught in South Korea
It's a lot to unravel. Stereotypical, people, you have to be patient with. I agree, because we are a cultural people. Heritage Choir, is fantastic.
That awkward moment when you realize they were saying “you” in their language
Please don't take it as racism. Sometime it might happen unintentionally because of ignorant and curiousity about black people.
Things have changed in Korea. Serious racists must be rude at any other Korean.
Can she share which UA-camr that she followed?
What's it like to be 💓blk women in Korea?.. PROBABLY lonely..

Same reason people go to Japan (anime) others go to Korea (kpop/kdrama).

Btw, not all koreans are racist stop grouping all the racist korean and the non-racist korean PLS
i dont think everyone thinks that all koreans are racist
how common knowledge is the meaning of the english n word in the republic of korea?
Not much.
But Korean word for you is pronouced [NI-GAH], and yours is pronounced [NI-GUH].
Even if a random guy were to say something rather racist, n word would certainly not be the one he'd choose.
I'm from Trinidad and raised in USA ... I can tell you that asians are not always accepted everywhere ... Asian have their own issues of racism ... I remember watching a show called " Soul Train ", they had this one asian lady that was not given any respect at the beginning of her career on the show ...
I have to say, black people are the most diverse group of people on earth ...
Because Asians are given other opportunities with mobility elsewhere in the US.

Also could have been them just saying a word that sounds like nigga in Korean because there are.
She had a deep affection of Japanese culture and the people and her heart was slightly broken by their not so warm welcome.
The koreans is the real n no good people and this would is ours so sis we made them don't feel bad
Blacks need to get over the name calling, that's going to happen. Asians straight up ignore the name calling and Blacks need to ignore it too.
why should we?
Ancient of days..
Why when everyone in the world wanna be black! Black goes with everything boo boo, check fashion

What’s the theme song?
