With the Obama story, you could have finished by saying that he didn’t realize that he had been served dog meat to eat until after he ate it.
Trump’s 1st wife wrote in her book about how he hates dogs. I don’t think that he likes any animals and has never owned a pet which says a lot about him.
I don't even think that Trump really likes his kids either!

As best I can tell, Trump is the first president to not have had a pet, in office or otherwise. Literally every other president has had a pet in some capacity. Even Andrew Johnson, while he didn't have pets, made friends with a family of mice who lived in the walls of the White House during his impeachment trial. It's a bit too superficial to make judgements about Trump's character because of this...or is it?

There are many things out there to judge trumps character. Not having a dog is one of the least on the pole.
She made up the part about Cricket eating the chickens. That makes it legal which is why she added it. Also, farmers do not cry over lost chickens.

my first reaction was couldn't she take the dog to a shelter for adoption? Maybe the dog was not cut out to be a hunting dog. Was the dog a danger to her and her family? was the dog almost biting her a one-off situation?
is this common for farmers to do to dogs that are not cut out to hunt?
I don’t know how common but I think it’s fairly common.
I assume the dog embarrassed her at the hunting trip, and at her friends, and she was pissed. So she killed it out of anger.

IF you have a dog that's attacking livestock and people, the only choice is to put it down. Doesn't matter if you're on a farm, in a zoo, in a suburb, or in the city.

The killing cone is used because it keeps the bird from flapping around after death and the blood will drain easily while it is upside down.

People are still talking about the 'Seamus the dog" narrative, though, so it still lives on. Only in your Right Wing echo chamber does Obama's dog eating narrative continue being dug up. FYI, anyone who has traveled through Asia and Africa recognizes dog is still widely eaten. I don't condone it, but it's reality. Dog farms are still open in Vietnam, Cambodia, China, South Korea, even. It really isn't that surprising a young Obama might have eaten it.
I remember Don Lemon dumping on you, Matt, on CNN one time, very unfairly and fatuously. He always seemed to be under the impression that he wasn't biased, when of course he was, tremendously so, with his gang of libs and one token, sacrificial conservative. Long time viewer and Patreon member here: the first few minutes of this video, which consists only of Matt reading an article, was genuinely the funniest Matt Lewis has ever been involved with. I love dogs but it would be weird not to laugh at this, especially watching Guy as he clearly hadn’t realized the absurdity of this before Storytime With Matt.
This is a great duo by the way. I like how you and Bob Wright both have these new cohosts that provide a lot of value simply by humoring the somewhat-reasonable, “high energy” verbalizations of their cohosts’, while maintaining an impenetrable air of disinterest. Bravo.

I'm busting a gut here at you guys' quips re the killing spree -- and again, as you say, I shouldn't be laughing, but you're getting off some good ones. Now I'm a dog lover, and there can be aggressive animals like this. Not sure it had reached the point where she had to kill it, but that does happen, and you'd have to do it in those cases. But most important here is that she's choosing to tell us this in her book, right at the beginning, which indicates that it's a ploy, perhaps to show her toughness and at the same time political incorrectness (as she points out). Perhaps a woman candidate can be forgiven this more than a man, because they might be more likely to be judged as not tough.
