First time I listened to 'it's about time', on radio, the radio presenter mentioned Boomshaka as the artist. I was so inspired to the extent that I had to come to SA in 1997. Honestly, music is the main reason that I came to SA. On arriving, the culture and positivity of South Africans gave me a whole new experience and perspective on life. That cultural impact shaped my character forever. I'm so grateful for what SA has given me.

I remember that group but I have to say what destroyed many groups this thing of going solo is the reason why many are struggling financially today we have groups like tk zee, boom shaka, Prophets of the City and others all these groups were destroyed I don't know whether is greed or what

I'm sorry but this interview leaves a lot to be desired. The interviewer was so unnecessarily focused on the lyrics and apparent explicit dancing of the group. She reduced them to nothing more than "naughty kids" when in fact they were a legendary band at the cusp of a revolutionary time in SA's history. You can hear Thembi and Theo trying so hard to emphasize that truth and steer the interview towards something more meaningful to no avail. Boom Shaka was a phenomenon that will never be repeated in SA's history. They infused American and Jamaican styles into the kwaito foundation, creating not only a new genre of music but became the amplifier of the average young person in a changing SA. Young people desperately needed a concise identity to express themselves and Boom Shaka gave it to us packaged neatly in some timeless hits. The whole entire world was watching SA in 1994. Everyone was figuring out who they were in the post-apartheid world and Boom Shaka was one of the groups leading the way. They are icons beyond all measure and this interview truly saddens me for missing the chance to give them their flowers.

Beyonce was still young and unknown, Boom Shaka theme and appearance creative where around people like Alyia, Brandy and Tony Braxton we did not even know there will be a Beyonce.
