I finally crashed my HK600 after over a year flying it (faulty cyclic servo) so the wife has bought me a true Align T-Rex 700e with DX8 controller. The rebuild on the 600 is going well but slowly as I am upgrading to the Bling alloy parts and making sure everything is as well built as it can be. All my 450's are getting overhauled or upgraded with bell 206 fuselage, so the Honey bee king 3 has been getting a good workout. Being on a pension has its drawbacks in this hobby. Nice build Dave. It helps to be inventive when the manufacturers short change you on parts. Keep the bird in the air at all cost Mate.
that was 100% pure luck Dave! good thing you didn't lost a second copter and this time not your 100% guilt! Fly safe and thanks so much for being a inspiration on the hobby for tons of people and me included, ever since your first Blade 400 videos I have not stop watching your videos following your great crazy moments and having fun with them. Thanks so much for your Rules of thumb I always remember them, and try to teach others. Thanks so much and have a great day! Ed
HI and thanks so very kindly for your comments. I truly appreciate your long time subscription and am glad I was able to help. When I learned in the 70's, there was no one to ask for help, no gyros, no autopilots, and no electric helis, Those that knew helis always kept their heli flying tips to themselves letting us struggle, cause they had to crash and crash to learn and so they wanted us all to do that too. Well, I decided to tell all I learned, so others could learn faster. Again I am grateful for your comments. Happy flying, Dave
Once again great vid mr Herbert. Sorry to hear about ur failing eyesight. At the least u don't give up. Always look forward to ur vids think I'll get me a clone now. Thumbs up Dave
Great flight, I too have a little trouble with orientation when I try to fly my Heli's , I found by velcroing a light to the front of my Heli it shows me which way the Heli is facing, the light I prefer is the "Bright White DJI Phantom Quadcopter 1 Head Light Kit" the light has 24 Very bright L.E.D,s and it plugs into the Balance plug of a lipo, The draw on the Batt is very low as well, It has helped me retrieve my Heli from flying away a few times.
nice job on the build Dave, too bad about some parts missing and bad ones but some nice Align/other parts will cure that, nice flying too with this pretty fast helicopter :-)
Nice vid Dave! sorry to hear about your D-700! The Alzrc looks like its got potentional because you can use Align parts with it. It'll be cool what custom configuration your Alzrc turns into.
Thanks Jason. Yes, it is really easy to loose something that really has no shape at a distance. Jeff kept me relaxed and I just remember my rule #7....When you loose it, pretend your still flying it. You have a better chance than giving up. Thanks again.
***** Rule #7 sounds like my, "Fly by memory" technique / advice that I tell new pilots. Works really well when the sun blinds you or you lose perspective visually. Cheers, J
Hi Dave Cannopy rubbing the gear, out-of-round gear - this is on par for a clone. Very common across most of them. However, the 1.5mm hex screws and short tail fin are part of the Trex design and were simply cloned. The screws are larger with the later 450 Pro design (2mm hex). I'm surprised you didn't pick the 450 Pro or the new Dominator.
I have not as yet made any contact, but will. But also, I am sure they will see this video and will adjust the kits asap. Thanks kindly for your comments.
The CopterX Black Angel 450 kit is so much nicer. Some of the parts exceed Align's quality. Their electronics are run of the mill, but everything else is very refined.
Hey Bob okay! Yeah, those machines really fly and are pretty exciting for an old guy like me. LOL I know your the REAL expert on them though! Happy flying and thanks for the Kudos..
The frame really isn't any narrower the Align Trex 450 Sport is also like that. Also ALZRC calls theirs the Sport V2 but it's actually version 2 of their Sport V1 clone and not a Sport V2 clone. The real Align 450 Sport V2 has an even narrower frame, plastic molding on the frames and differently shaped side frames as well as a redesigned flybar head that replaces the flybar cage seesaw yoke with a seesaw rod that passes through a hole on the hub and relocates the upper mixing arms to the blade grips. Also the Trex 450 Plus is a Sport V2 with some of the aluminum parts replaced by plastic. Tarot gears are pretty decent and they also sell the servo nuts. tarot-rc-heli.c*m and Club Heli carries Tarot stuff in the US.
man i have enough trouble on regular name brand builds......imo for me, all that extra work with fitment, and finding screws and parts it didnt come with would make a build a nightmare for a newer pilot.....ill continue learning and building with name brand parts .....untill i dont lolol

Mr Dave Sir... Flying 3D now I see... :)
Good video Mr Dave!~~John
Nice flying
Glad you had a spotter on that flight - would hate to see a brand new one go down / get lost on its first couple flights!

Dave, have you ever used a 15tooth or 17 tooth pinion gear on the motor? If so what were the results?? Thank you in advance.

Nice vid dave, maybe its best to spend more and buy a genuine kit with no issues..jim
you got that from Hobbyking? I don't see a listing for it.
He got it from Alzrc.

www.helipal.com
Sorry, If I mislead, I Actually got it from Helipal.com. It is manufactured by ALZRC.

You bought a clone??? Shame on you!
Yep. Sometimes we old people on Social Security need to be thrifty, I guess, especially when repairs become imminent.
Would you recommend this kit to someone who is in the market for a 450 heli? Also someone who is on a tight budget!
