I'm still waiting for you to interview Colin Martin from County Monaghan who was jailed and wrote the book: Welcome to Hell: One Man's Fight For Life Inside The Bangkok Hilton
You seem very disciplined. I really like your interviewing style; you let your guests get all their thoughts out without interruptions. You're one of the best interviewers on UA-cam. Thanks for all you do.
Pete, one of your best interviews, definitely will donate to this charity. My heart goes out to these people jailed abroad, not to mention those innocent of crimes. Thank you.😊
A real eye opener, never imagined so many foreigners imprisoned outside their own country and the challenges they face. Well done , very thought provoking vlog.
There's an Irish guy (think hes from Carrickmacross) who claims he was wrongfully convicted of murder and i think he served around twenty years or so. Published a book about his experiecnes in prison in Bangkok. He would be worth having on as a guest if you can find him.
These guys are absolutely stars and saved my sanity just in the first week. The first thing I got was their magazine which was full of help and advise. I did some art for a charity event and went down to London to do some filming. For the know it all's that will comment "if you cant do the crim..." The vast majority of people that end up in these situation will be the first and last time in prison and are genuine decent people, not me I'm one of the cunts 55
I have a friend who is currently locked up in Thailand. I'm shocked to hear that when he gets sent back to the UK in a few years, he may still have to serve a very long sentence here.
Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. Involvement with illegal drugs abroad proves how fricken stupid you are. Your friend deserves prison no matter the country. He/she thinks of themselves first....screw them. With fentanyl now, it is killing many.
Many years ago in Phuket, I was tipped off by a good Thai friend that a girl I had known but hadn't engaged with was going to frame me. She was allegedly going to hide some ganja in my garden, inform the Police and take them to the 'stash'. I have never smoked in my life.. So the good friend advised that I made a Police report as per the story I have just related. Got it done and never heard another thing! Keep one step ahead if you can!
Great video, well done to Matthew, the organisation and others helping out too👏👏 Well done to those prisoners who’ve got back home and turned their life’s around, and may the others still incarcerated get the help they need to get out or leave the country. Too many people not thinking it would happen to them…. Please do the right thing…1st by yourself… 2nd by the laws of the country you arrive in for whatever reason you are there. 3rd… Don’t think drinking at bars you are safe, in any country, it can get out of hand, before you know it, you could end up in jail just by arguing with whoever even if you believe you are in the right… Watch out for scammers/opportunists in any country… many are wolves in sheep clothing. Different country different rules! Forewarned is Forearmed!!
Been listening to your vids and enjoying the content. Only one recommendation, to balance volume of your mic with the guest. Your volume is often too loud compared with the guests.
There were volunteer groups, who would visit foreigners in the jails in Bangkok (I remember this hot girl asked me,😉 but jails freak me out)and bring necessary items to them (toiletries, magazines, medicines)I don't know if they still do . These days with the masses of tourists visiting Thailand and social media it wouldn't be too hard for expats to start it up again.
I was locked up in the Philippines and at 5pm they locked us in our cells (50) to a cell that was 12' x14' and let us out at 6am. Only one meal a day unless family brought you extra food during visits. I lost 34 pounds in 4 years.
Good job, lad. I'm Irish and have lived in 5 SE Asian countries since '92. It's easy to be silly here and be very unlucky. I've known and met a few unfortunates. You just have to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, or be set up. I and others who've lived out here for years agree that Thailand is the worst for opportunities to smuggle drugs to anywhere in the world, and get caught at the airport. Fermanagh for Sam this year again. Good work you're doing on UA-cam.
Wonderful person doing Wonderful things I admire him for his tireless work and dedication..I have travelled to Thailand and I found that they can be very corrupt and money is actually the thing that they worship most..so basically it's always a one sided argument that they will always win...Great interview great cause thank you
I don't begrudge the support this charity provides, but i wonder if the victims of some of these crimes get the same amount of support? A large amount will be drugs offensives but sexual assaults, violence etc will also play a part.
In the Bangkok visa place there's a massive sign saying the punishment for varying lengths of overstaying. It's all just fines and black listing, perhaps if you can't pay the fine you may have to serve a few months instead ?
@@ctb1977 The fines and blacklisting is for people who surrender themselves to immigration. However if you are caught, you are arrested and send to IDC in Bangkok, which I would consider being a jail.
There's a young woman in Thailand got 14 years in March for liking a Facebook post suggesting constitutional reform such that they had an elected head of state. I personally would have no issue with this man providing her help, the "victim" is a billionaire pkayboy who I'm sure is fine so not all crimes are the same
What if you your in an accident that’s not your fault, but you get stitched up. Things get told that lay the blame on you. Or you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time and the blame’s lumped on you. Sometimes things go against you of no fault of your own. Be thankful these guy’s are there IF you ever need them.
How old are you? I've been travelling around Asia since I was 21, I've been an idiot plenty of times and got away with it. The point is 90% of us are idiots make mistakes and are fine. It doesn't make us any better than the 10% who are unlucky to make their mistakes in the wrong place/wrong time
@ctb1977 Nah, you follow the law in the country you're visiting. Especially when there's HARSHpenalties for drugs. It's well know. You have to be an idiot to do drugs in Thailand. Have fun in jail.
@@ctb1977 there is decisions and then there is consequences. these people knew what they were up to and they made their decision that the risk is worth the outcome and now they are paying their price. got nothing to do with better or worse. calling someone an idiot who does any offense related to drugs in thailand is just an observation. you would do the same if you saw somebody with a knife through his hand who told you he had the chance to squash a paper bag and either find a handful of bucks or a knife in there.

Probably back in Pattaya
I know the guy you’re talking about. I’ve reached out to him
He is at home in Ireland (monaghan) and works abroad oil rigs etc. Seems to be back to "normal"
Your wife should start a channel called Irish Thaimes about her experiences in Ireland
Great one Pete. I enjoyed it .keep in up☆

Well done on a very necessary video, Thailand is a law unto itself when it comes to prejudice to foreigners
Excellent interview. This guy is a saint.
It would be interesting to hear from a criminal attorney based here in Bangkok too sometime.

Theirs a very fine line between heaven and hell in many asian countries.
Most informative.
There should be more international consensus on how to treat prisoners right
