Quite a comprehensive and well-laid out test! Wanted to know if there's an issue with recording vocals when an instrument is playing alongside. I feel the mic distorts the sound of vocals if guitar is playin alongside.
So helpful I was thinking of buying this mic just to have a different recording option when away from my desk setup and you answered all the questions I had! Thank you!
Which stand could be used with these boya microphones? Would it fit on a conventional microphone stand? Another thing is that I'm using boya mm1 to record voice and an acoustic guitar but the volume gets a little bit low, how to improve or increase its volume?
How? How you get rid of the noise? How you edit your voice and how you sound so clear. I think you should make a tutorial about this. In the beginning of the video your voice sounds best!
a 3 meter TRS male to TRS male 3.5mm cable make sure to get a good one since lots of random companies make 3.5mm cables that have bad wiring and you'll hear buzzing on your recording if ever
Hi sir! Liked the video very much. May I ask what cable should I be buying if I'll be using it on a PC and needed it to be longer? My System unit is kinda far from where I am seating. 😅
Get an extension aux cable, specifically a 3.5mm male-to-male TRS audio cable. I'm actually using one too haha got one from Shopee. Brand is Vention , I think Ugreen also has similar cables
Hello! This is informative! How do you control and adjust the gain on this mic? Do you do it on the computer - if so, what program do you need to use to do this? Is it a native Boya app? or is it in an editing program like Davinci Resolve?
the mic doesn't have any buttons, settings or a native boya software, so he was setting the gain from the camera or the editing software on his Mac, i had this mic, I've used it with smartphone and i got used with the sound and it's just average, i used it with the pc using a usb sound card and it gave me even worse sound, I've sold it to a friend for a cheap price and im thinking of buying a lavalier mic for better sound gaining because the mic would be on my neck, i advice you to buy the boya M1 or any lavalier mic if you just gonna film inside your room
Hello, I have a BY-M1 lavalier microphone, but now I have changed my phone and it only has USB C input, and my microphone only has one jack. The phone is an Oppo Reno10 What kind of adapter do I need to be able to use it with my phone? Thank you
will need an adapter. boom mic arm thread is bigger than the mic mount (which is a standard tripod bolt). in my case, i bought a 5/8" 27 female to 1/4" 20 male adapter, threaded it to an adapter that came with the boom arm, then the mic on the other end. hope that helps!
bro. Where i am living right now this mic is 10 dollars, that is a total steal. I use it with my iphone se 2nd gen to make pretty good quality video and audio
using a boom arm to mic thread adapter. double check your arm and mic thread sizes and include those when searching. i think i linked this specific one in the description
Earl. We have the new IDOLCAM VlogStar V2 shotgun/Lavalier microphone in one, small size, perfect for vlogging, can we send you one to you to play with?
gain-wise, yep! if you're buying mainly for pc use, you might be better off with a short-range mic. shotgun mics like the mm1 have a long-range pickup pattern and thus will pick up sound from a distance (e.g. noise behind your back, room noise, dogs barking, etc).
I just bought this and is having issues on my Sony A7III. Even at the lowest level setting (one step above mute) the input level is way too high and will easily peak. Also the shock mount does absolutely nothing to absorb any noise from lens AF or hands touching the camera. It's just a stiff piece of plastic.
gain is too low? or is there static noise? or both? i'm not sure I understand what you mean. I had a static noise problem before, but that turned out to be a problem with the 3.5mm extension cable that I was using, replaced it and the problem was solved
@@earlmalaki My problem is that If I record voice or video from 20-25 centimeters, My voice is too low. When I come 5 or 10 centimetres close to mic and speak then it is normal. But I choose the highest gain in mic settings of windows 11. It is 30. Can I make it higher using any app?
@@earlmalaki Hi earl. where did you buy your new replacement cable? Is it compatible with a smartphone? I have the same boya mic. I just lost my cable.
Paano nyo po nakabit yung boya mic sa mic holder? At paano nyo rin po na extend yung wire nya? Sana masagot nyo po ako even though im kinda late na hahahah
hi sorry kinda late din hahaha need ng adapter para makabit. in my case, i bought a 5/8" 27 female to 1/4" 20 male adapter, threaded it to an adapter that came with the boom arm, then the mic on the other end. double-check mo what thread size and adapter yung nasa arm/stand mo para sure haha sa cable naman I bought an extension aux cable, specifically a 3.5mm male-to-male TRS audio cable. Bought everything from Shopee 🤣
Meron po kayong link kung saang shop nyo po exactly nabili yung mga items? for reassurance lang po na hindi mali yung mabibili ko at guaranteed na ayos yung item, medyo may anxiety po kase ako sa pag order eh, kase ilang beses na akong umorder ng mga wirings for my mic and unfortunately some of it is depekto. So atleast diba may assurance na ako kase you have it eh and it's obviously working perfectly. hope i will still get a reply from you idol. Btw new subscriber here 👍
thanks man. the mm1 is priced a little lower now that they have released the mm1+ and mm1 pro. you can also check the m1 (clip-on mic) which is more affordable than the mm1 while still offering great sound quality
found the mic randomly at some techs shop and its kinda affordable so i bought it and turns out its the cheapest but good mic after all

Can I ask, how did you connect the Boya MM1 shock mount to your boom mic stand? Can you tell me of the screw type you used and the adaptor name?

Boya BY-MM1 @@alexabreuor
From what device are you using it to record? Make sure use TRS cable for camera, TRRS for laptop/phone

Is this a good option for recording acoustic guitar?
Great video, finally something good
Hey what camera are you using to record in this video?
Which editing software you use to edit crispy voice please tell me
I use this mic. I hear white noise in my recording. Why is it? Does anyone know? I use it connecting to the microphone.
I just bought this thing, but I dont know how to use it with my iPad or android phone. I thought it would be as easy as plugging it in..
Did you find any solution?
Hello sir I buy Boya mm1 from your link I received it and it worked but I try to create a voice over but the backround noise is still accompaning
I think that cannot be avoided you need to buy more expensive microphone to resolve that problem
Love this review
I'm looking for a good mic for my Zoom Meetings, I teach guitar, would you recommend this mic for that purpose?

Use the TRS-TRS cable(the non-curly one) that came with the Boya, then connect it to the lightning-3.5mm adaptor that came with iPhone

Is it ok if i use it for windows pc
I get a really low noise on 1 arm distance
details about cabel
Hi , Very good Video, its really useful.
Does it record in stereo?
will this work with windows?
Does it catch noise with wire
Does it have enough gain for a pc mic input?
gain-wise, yep! if you're buying mainly for pc use, you might be better off with a short-range mic. shotgun mics like the mm1 have a long-range pickup pattern and thus will pick up sound from a distance (e.g. noise behind your back, room noise, dogs barking, etc).
How did you post process your audio?
I use the built-in audio tools in Premiere. A little bit of noise and reverb reduction, de-esser, EQ, then increase the gain to around -6db.
What about boya by-m1
prefect you cover all these things what i want know abt this mic thanks for your effort good luck
