Wonderful work on display. This is without a doubt one of the best videos I’ve watched. The breadth of images you showed, color, tonality simply fantastic. I’m in the market for a 50 and you’ve helped solidify my decision. Thank you.
@@ThePhotographerGuy Definitely will do. Literally just watching your review on the 28 - 70 too. Love that you go through and show your images, really insightful for people in my position. Keep it up bro !
That picture of the couple on the beach in front pf the Golden Gate bridge was stunning - and the one right after of the silhouette of the same couple . . High quality images.
Nice wedding shots! I finally bit the bullet and got the RF50L. You have a couple of panoramas with this lens, and I'm wondering, did you switch to manual focus?
That's great. My manual focus ring is actually stuck. I've never used it but about a year ago it i noticed it was jammed and I haven't had time to send it in. I just use a button on the back to disable Autofocus.
Sold this for the 85. Slightly regretting it since I need to be wider since I’ve been shooting more professionally. Hoping to pick up a new one on Black Friday to use with my 85.
@ThePhotographerGuy my style of shooting I prefer the 85 to document the day and candid reactions but for groups and posing I’m finding I NEED my 50 back. Not looking forward to it price wise but it will give me the look I’m going for
All the way...After 25 years with Canon I switched to Sony in 2017. I shoot music gigs, concerts, band portraits, and magazine editorial work. I do love the Sony primes for their quality and weight. Then for the zoom's I use Sony 16-35, the Tamron 35-150, Sony 100-400, and sometimes the 200-600. I do miss the Canon 300 f/2.8, Sony does have one in the works for 2024 so it's on my list. Thanks very much for the video, nice to talk to you. Best of luck with your channel
Amazing! You're an amazing photographer. 👏 How do you get to catch both subjects in focus at 1.2 ? Do you use single shot for that? I find it difficult with couples. Thx in advance!
I've been using B+W UV-Haze #010 MRC filters for the last 10 years and they've been amazing. Broken a few with some good bumps but they're awesome. No difference when shooting into the sun.
Hi Ely! How do you shoot panorama with this? Newbie here and trying to imagine it in practice. Do you use a tripod or just handheld? Does it all happen within the camera or with post production like a third party software? Your work looks amazing!
@@ThePhotographerGuy Thank you so much for sharing! I was contemplating whether or not to keep this lens due to it not being as wide as 24 or 35mm but but seeing how you produce incredible wide images with it, I'm keeping it! Yes, I understand I might take more time getting multiple shots compared to single one from a wider lens, but for everything else it offers- sharpness, bokeh, focusing speed makes it all worth it! Thank you😁
Nice content! still considering to buy it... Is that nice extrem flare in some pics all coming from the sun, or did you ad lights behind the subjects and edit them out later?
@@ThePhotographerGuy Yeah the 35 VCM was a huge let down with the wild distortion. Coming from the GM primes I really miss the 50GM and the 35GM, specifically the AF speed. Just really prefer the canon cameras.
@@ThePhotographerGuy gotcha! I guess I say that bc you shoot wide open and with high shutter speed and was curious! This is a great channel hope it grows!

I believe I see a Loupedeck live in front of you? I'd definitely be interested to see a review of that if you're looking for more content ideas, especially since your channel is new. I get the impression Loupedeck just sends out stuff to big channels and they do the review, say nice things and then never use it again and that these things might not be as good as their marketing has implied. And if it is a different brand, I'd be curious what you use and how it is.
Hey Kyle, I have been using the loupdeck live for about a year and a half and love it. I had the original one, then bought the CT. The CT was crashing my 13" m1 mac a ton so I sent it back. When I got the M1 Max I figured i'd try try the loupdceck Live. It's been great. I mainly just use it for shortcut button like common crop ratios and quick instagram export. I'll probably do a small review on it including keyboard shortcuts when I get better in Final Cut... I recommend getting it through amazon prime so that you can return it if it doesn't work well with your computer.
Finally a photogrpgaphy video that shows photogrphy
i agree completely

wow, great work! I have 4 50mm prime lenses, 3 for my Leica M cameras and one 1.8 for my R6. Looks like I need another one.
Thanks! It’s a magical lens.
it definitely has characteristics to it/ paired up with a r5 it almost gives that medium format feel to it.
For sure.

Very professional shots, Deadly. It's so funny the difference between personal taste, I hate flare.

Thanks Benjamin! The RF bodies are pretty great at focusing at f1.2. The R5, R6 and R6II are all really great when paired with this lens.
Love the way you shoot backlit. Does the UV filter make any difference when you shoot into the sun?

Is that nice extrem flare in some pics all coming from the sun, or did you ad lights behind the subjects and edit them out later?
They are all natural light.
@@ThePhotographerGuy ...sounds good. thank you
Is the AF fast enough for relatively fast moving subjects? Let’s say running? Idc if it’s not instant or noisy.
It's not amazing for someone running towards the camera. I would wait for the new 50mm 1.4 vcm. I'll probably switch over to that one.
@@ThePhotographerGuy Yeah the 35 VCM was a huge let down with the wild distortion. Coming from the GM primes I really miss the 50GM and the 35GM, specifically the AF speed. Just really prefer the canon cameras.
Great photos. What's the lowest shutter you would use for a portrait photo before you have to worry about blur?
probably 1/125th. Mainly since non one ever really holds that still. I can photograph at 1/60 if it's a still scene.
Great work.
Btw I have the EF 35 1.4 II and it is one of the best lenses ever created from Canon.
I need to rent that one again. I want to try it on the GFX 100s.
Do you typically shoot without the hood? I see a lot of flare in most of your images...not saying its a bad thing...just more than I'd expect.
Love flare hate hoods;) haha. haven't used a hood since 2012.
amazing pics! Greetings from Australia! Do you use full mechanical or EFC? I find efc can mess with the bokeh
Hi. I have been using EFC but haven't noticed any issues. I should try both and see if there is a difference.
@@ThePhotographerGuy gotcha! I guess I say that bc you shoot wide open and with high shutter speed and was curious! This is a great channel hope it grows!
@@EBWLY Thanks.
Do you think the filter takes away from the quality ? I’ve been debating whether or not to put one on.
No. I don't think it makes a difference at all. I buy the B+W MRC 010 filters. I have been using them for years and have the same one on every lens.
Aces !!!
Hello! Brazil over here! Is this lens very different from the EF 50mm 1.2?
hey. Yes. It is much sharper.
love this video, thanks
Thanks for watching.
If you could start over, would you get the 85mm or the 50mm ? 😅
50mm for sure.
you got lots of lens flare in the photos, is this the quality of the lens or your shooting style, or plugin?
It's all in camera.
Me: *just bought a used Sigma 50 1.4 for $400, and is happy with it*
UA-cam: "perfect time to make him feel bad for it!"
haha. I've used dozens of lenses. Just use what works for you. I Used that sigma lens for 2 years and loved it.
@@ThePhotographerGuy thanks Ely. I just got it like 3 hours ago. Let's hope for the best out of it 😆
can I assume that you don like to shoot with the lens hood on?
Haven't used a hood since 2010. I use UV filters to protect my glass. I love flare.
Can I ask what kind of video lights you use for your indoor portraits?

In terms of sharpness. Is the 24-70 2.8 or 50mm 1.2 sharper ?
Ooo. not really sure. I never use the 50mm at 2.8. They're both super sharp and never really fall short.

100%
