      @saxumbonum 2 роки тому +6

      @@Jeremy-wp4yh why would something that is appropriate for a 25 year old no longer be appropriate for a 50 year old? What makes something appropriate or inappropriate? Why should someone's opinion on "appropriate" clothing dictate every other person's choices?

      @@saxumbonum the same way teenagers dress differently to adults. The same way people dress differently on a date then they do at the office or at home. Don't pretend that you don't know what appropriate means. People also grow up and leave their past behind once they have kids. You don't want to embarrass them by trying to look like them.

      Idk her show was pretty harmful especially cause I watched it as a teen. "Hey, all your friends and family think you look awful. Let's change what you like and dress you how everyone else likes so that people like you better!" I was always so afraid that everyone thought I looked awful all the time and just never told me. I'm autistic and so many clothes are a straight up no go. I very rarely fit the current trends, I love character tshirts and only wear sensory friendly clothes. I’m 50 this year, I have long hair, dress as I please . I eat healthily most of the time , exercise moderately , don’t smoke and only have an occasional drink. But I laugh everyday, lead with kindness and am thankful for the little things. This has been the hardest year for me in a while but I’m working through it. I will not do anything to cover my expressionate face that shows all my emotions - from love, joy, surprise, interest to concern, sadness and even anger. You are 💯% right. The 100 million dollar question still is...How do you Really learn to "make peace with yourself?" This world & society Really Sucks that it makes so many women become in this battle with oneself!
      Men need to be brought up to learn to value ALL women at ALL stages in their lives. I think this is the root of why women deem themselves so unworthy as they age, because of the constant messages whether subliminal or outright that society puts upon women, that you are somehow "less than" if you're not youthful any longer. It's a Lot to rise above.
      Kudos to Stacey & her spirit! I wish Every woman could feel this way!

    My 20’s were a pain filled, my 30s a blur, my 40’s the worst physically, and now my 50’s the most peaceful and happy despite world problems. God got me through each season and I would never want to go back and start over even though I wish I knew then what I know now, even though I’m losing special people each year. I’m not afraid of dying and that makes a big difference- I also have learned my limitations, who is too toxic to keep around, and staying away from stupid diets. I was struggling with this for about two years straight in my late 20’s from about 27-29 and it was so bad that aging was on my mind at least 3-5 times a day. 30 was creeping up on me so quickly and I could not stand the thought of it. Just a little before 30 I had a realization that it wasn’t getting older that scared me. It was that I hadn’t done the things I actually wanted to do before “getting too old”. As a teen I did a pageant and loved it, but never got back into it because I felt I was “too old”. I stopped cheerleading at 15 because I felt I was “too old” for it. I had always wanted get back into these hobbies, but never knew how and by the time I started thinking about doing it I was already in my late 20’s. I felt life had passed me by. I started researching and found an adult cheer team. I also found a pageant for people my age. I’m thriving. I no longer think about getting older. I just look forward to more opportunities to do the things I love.

My argument is that she’s being a hypocrite for saying one thing and then saying and doing something else when it doesn’t benefit her. That’s the only message I’m trying to make clear. It’s like you saying “ everyone your age should have green hair at this age it’s what is appropriate” and then when it’s your turn to dye your hair green you change your mind and don’t do it. Love this!! Everytime it comes up in conversation that I'm almost 30, people are always so shocked, but reassure me that it's a good thing and that someday, I'll be glad I look younger. On many levels, I find this disturbing: Why would it be a bad thing if I were to look my age? Haven't I earned these years? Am I inherently more valuable up society as a young woman than if I were older? I know very few people actually think that outright, but the underlying concept is there.

    It’s great she feels this way, But she made a lot of money telling vulnerable women did they couldn’t live that life and they had a dress to fit a standard. Being on a UA-cam channel is not enough to change the harm she’s done. I really hope she’s reached out to all the people she actively harmed on “what not to wear” in order to make money. If she has not it really says that she believes that she deserves to age however she feels comfortable and do whatever feels good in her body but other people do not because saying anything different on TV or on the Internet is not the same as reaching out to the people that you harmed personally and making amends.

      Do you not think reaching out to each individual person is a bit much? Honestly I think it'd be a little selfish and egotistical of her to think those people would ever want to hear from her again, even for an apology. I'd think she was just doing it to look good, or for publicity, or literally any number of reasons, but I wouldn't think she actually cared at all. It'd probably just make me feel even worse tbh. You would want to forget about that experience and that period of your life, not hear that Stacey herself hasn't even forgotten about you. Also she isn't trying to erase her past or anything, she just feels absolutely terrible about making a lot of money telling vulnerable women they have to dress a certain way to be acceptable. And because she feels so terrible she seems to spend almost all of her time talking about it and speaking out about positivity and self expression and having fun now. She is combating the negativity she spread by spreading as much positivity as she can instead, I literally don't know what more this woman could do to take responsibility for her actions, seems she's already very much on top of that.

    I really like that line about there being no such thing as “aging gracefully” That term has never sat right with me as it applies some weird character value to how you age which as far as I understand is mostly due to your genetics and out of your control.

    also cutting hair short is good gor most older 50+ women because their hair is thinner and flatter and long hair weighs it down and short hair goves fullness and volume. But stacy has thick full hair so she can still pull off long hair. It's not about appropriate, it's about what FITS u best. And accentuates ur best features: universally good features: balanced symmetry, clear skin, etc...

    My mom turned 50 just recently, and she's probably the most active I've ever seen her. She goes out every month to go on hikes up mountains, and she goes on long walks with me outside for exercise. She likes doing yoga and zumba danced becaude she finds them enjoyable. Just a few days ago, I went on a hike with her and my brother, and she looked so strong while doing it. I love seeing her being happy and doing all these things while not letting her age dictate the way she should look or act.

    I think there is such a thing as aging gracefully. My dad said it was important. For example, my grandma (his mother) every since he was a baby constantly worried about aging/death. She was constantly sensitive about everything on that. But, my grandpa, aged gracefully. He accepted every stage at life until the very end. He always helped his neighbors (most were older) with groceries, laundry, giving rides, & much more, since he had time & money. When he was middle aged, he traveled to help teach students his wisdom. When he was young, he made a mark in us army. When he was a kid, he was in the orphanage with his brother and sister, & always wanted to help his baby sister when he could hear her crying in the other room. I think keeping yourself together & healthy in a way that's you & yourself, is aging gracefully. I hope I can do that.
