I love learning about other cultures through music, and rap can be especially telling. Thank you for showing us some Chinese female rappers!! Just added them to my library. I especially loved the message of the second rapper, Rui Xue. And you know what's funny? I'm not even learning Chinese (yet). I just really enjoy your videos, your perspective, and the way you approach teaching the language. I am so fascinated by the way that the language sounds, and by all the idioms/classical sayings. I mean, we're talking about a language that's been spoken for thousands of years! That's amazing! It's very daunting, and I struggle to foresee a day when I would be able to speak it fluently, but I'm very thankful you have so many resources available for whenever I have the time to start learning!
老师给我们介绍的歌曲都很好。但是,对我来说,最后的歌曲特别好!(please correct my sentence if it's wrong lol. I haven't used Mandarin in a very long time). I discovered your channel recently and it really makes me want to start studying Mandarin again!
Another great video! I really like to learn with music, the only problem when it comes to Chinese is a good resource to look up the lyrics to sing along. Any tips?
Please do more of these great videos, how to improve Chinese with Rap songs. I'm learning Mandarin since 1.5 years and sometimes it's hard to find the motivation again, because the progress is quite slow. But with this video my motivation is immediately back :-))!
Love your formate.. that thing with the parts makes it easier to follow a long and find out how much is there left till the next part of the video... ofc if you see
@@RitaChinese True.. Besides, her English pronunciation is really good and the English lines make sense in contrast to other Chinese rappers xD Im a Fan 💪🏻
Thank you for this channel and your efforts. I'm just starting out and was if the same thought process - that rap would be another solid learning resource. Thanks again. 🕊✌🦋
You're the best Rita! So happy you made another video about Chinese rap! I still listen to the song by Kafe Hu you spoke about in the last video. I hadn't heard it before. ❤️
Wow, the flow and beat of JinxZhou's song is really great. I love hip hop, but I don't like most of the stuff nowadays (when I hear autotune, I have to puke), but I'm old and grew up with the best rap in the 90ies. However she's really good, reminds me a bit of Eve in her good old days.
Hahah yeah, there're some huge changes in the so-called "new school" styles. While hip hop is so much more in mainstream music now in the US and even worldwide, the core of the music genre seems to have changed a lot as well, for better or worse. Anyways, Jinx is AWESOME!!
I had never thought of using rap when learning Chinese. I have struggled with some Mandarin pop songs I try to learn with, especially when they don't follow or enunciate tones in their melody, which can add a challenge to English learning in my opinion. Thanks for the rap recommendations, hopefully this will make learning Chinese with songs more fun! 多谢了老师!
Hahah yeah I know not all people are into rap music. Anything with natural pronunciation and tones that you find interesting to watch or to listen can make good practice materials!
Damn fan laoshi spitting hot fire in this video. Can't wait for your demo tape. Keep up the great work! I know you will feature the male rappers soon. Please break down 那吾克热,the chinese Eminem's lyrics. He spits so fast you might have to slow the video down even more!
Hahah thanks! I've been listening to Chinese rap for 2 decades, but to be a rapper? That's a different story in another life😆 那吾 used to use the stage name "Lil Em," and yeah, I'll have to slow it down at 0.1x speed to break it down😂
OMG what these rap girls are saying and how they are doing it, is so great, so powerful and so necessary. Absolute world class artists, actually like them more than the "originals" for the message they are bringing. Very brave heroes. Thank you for teaching us again in your own incredibly powerful way. Too bad I can only give you one thumb up, you deserve all my fingers and toes. I think you should do an entire video with the best raps, because it is at the end of a long video about learning Chinese, and my recipients will find it hard to watch to the end. Yes, I know, that's what you do...
Thanks for another great video! Where’s the best place to look up lyrics (ideally in pinyin with tones)? Can you please add the artists and song titles to your video descriptions for these videos?
If you know the Chinese name of the songs, you can just search it in Chinese with 歌gē词cí (lyrics), and there should be a transcript for it somewhere. As for pinyin, you'll have to use Google Translate or other apps to get through the characters!
I actually decided to put in the effort to really learn Rui Xue’s song and I have to say I was able to learn a lot of useful words and expressions much faster than I normally do. I also enjoyed annoying my husband by constantly asking him: “錯了嗎 ?”. Just one thing I’m still confused about is, what does she mean about airing dirty laundry? According to my dictionary this Chinese expression is used to say don’t talk about ugly family matters in public. Google translates this part as “it’s her fault she’s ugly”. What kind of situation is she referring to?
Haha glad to hear that the method works!! The lyrics was referring to victim blame - the girl got sexually assaulted/harassed but her family think it’s her fault and won’t tell anyone or police🙁
Rap Sunglasses Rita should definitely cohost with Regular Explanation Rita more often, she brings a powerful cool energy to the channel
Hahah thanks! Your voice is heard! 😎😄🙌
Absolutely.
If you enjoyed this video, raise your hand to show Fan Laoshi your undying support 🙋✋💥
hahah thank you so much for your superpower!!
5:26 For the first rap. 7:32 for the second rap. I love this. What a great video. I'd love to see more examples of Chinese rappers.

Good question! You can just try search the title in Chinese with 歌gē词cí (lyrics), and there usually is transcript that you can look through

omg you were a chinese rap columnist? what a dream 😭 我特别喜欢jinx和大包子的歌 love your content so much, hope you make more videos about rap
Will do! I'm thinking about which song to break down next time haha
Does anybody else think that in 0.75 the songs oftentimes have a brutal flow? 🔥
My favorite is
Lexie Liu - 佳人
Love her, too!! She's another cool talent in the scene! It's just her songs are more melodic

what about Chinese drama ost? Do you think they are good to learn? drama like Princess Agent.
Is there a difference between a male and female speakers speaking Mandarin? Like how if its differentiated in Thai and Japanese.

Can you review Julien Gaudfroy's Chinese?
Thank you for your recommendation! Will do!!
There's a song named Lazy Susan, Masiwei is rapping on Chinese in this song. Break it down laoshi :v
I actually mentioned it in my Shangchi analysis video😆🙌
is there a website to watch the show with eng subs? C:
You can check out Tencent Video’s YT channel and see if they have English subs
How can I get these rap songs into an ANKI deck with translation and pinyin as you have it on your videos?
Maybe you can find the Chinese lyric on some websites then use Google Translate to add pinyin to it.
@@RitaChinese thank you! Also, sent an email regarding a question about your online coaching. When time allows, can you take a look? Thank you!

where can I find these songs with transcription
You can try search the Chinese names of the songs with “歌词lyrics”😊
these rappers look like corporate material compared to beat down dirt gritty original rappers.
