Man, Seal is so damn good. So many people don't even realize how good he is.... this album certainly proves it. He's able to mix a number of genres and make it unique. And he's amazing live. Yes, sometimes, ya gotta be crazy.
Seal defines the best of the 90’s for me. So many incredible songs and albums. This is just the beginning, 30+ years of music. Class, style, funk and poignancy all combined into a perfect musical package - and so relevant. Cheers.
Seal is a treasure. Would love to see your reaction to my favorite of his, "If I Could", which is a gorgeous duet with Joni Mitchell. Thanks for another great reaction to one of my faves! Happy Birthday, Saeed! ✌💙✌
Happy Birthday, bro! I think I speak for others in addition to myself when I say we’re thankful you were brought into this world. You make a lot of people’s days, frequently. Good job 11/28/87!👍😊🎉
I never watched a lot of the music videos, because most often they didn't live up to the songs, and in many cases actually ruined the songs for me. Then came this video. I love the clothing, his moves (and even him sitting still), the colors, the starkness... just as much today as back then.
The first time I heard this I fell in love. It was so unlike anything else that was being played on the airwaves in Northern California (San Francisco Bay Area) at that time. And the video-just so unusual and hard to place it in a specific genre. It was electronica and house combined with some jazz sensibilities and rock elements with a splash of R&B...He hits on so many common threads of music.
Joking? No way. When I saw this recently, I saw the incredible resemblance to The Matrix. When it looks like he is flying with the camera above him, that is exactly the shot from the end of the first Matrix movie. And of course, the costumes and vibe. I hadn't thought of the "pill" reference, but I would not be surprised if that influenced them as well. Amazing and groundbreaking song and video.
Dude i never knew what this song was actually about until this reaction, thanks for the enlightenement. "A man decides after seventy years That what he goes there for, is to unlock the door While those around him criticize and sleep" Pretty sure that's a reference to the "Tank Man" from Tiananmen Square, such a cool way to put it and remember that crazy fella lol, crazy in the best way possible. Alanis Morissette did a cool cover of this song too.
He wore dreads to cover his facial scars caused by lupus that he suffered with then he decided to shave his hair off now he is bald and shows his scars with pride Also this song is thirty years old
If you think this song is powerful then you absolutely must react to Seals other huge hit Prayer for the Dying. It's written as an homage to all of those who died from AIDS in those early years.
Thanks so much. Its actually still early (depending on timezone) My birthday is on Thanksgiving this year 😄 I havent yet, but i do know a few songs by them.
The Song is Manificent AND the Video is EVERYTHING!
