It is a measure of the slope of the treadmill. It is the other parameter that with speed defines the exercise intensity on a treadmill. As an example, arise of 15 cm in 100 horizontal cm is a 15% grade. Or in a decimal format it would be 0.15.
@@VivoPhys Fair enough. I had a small doubt actually regarding a MET question. I'm just really stuck with it. The question is: What is the MET equivalent to level walking on a treadmill at 3.0 mph? A. 5.59 MET B. 3.30 MET C. 2.30 MET D. 3.02 MET
You need to calculate VO2 first, but sorry you will need to ask your instructor if you want more help. In case it's for a grade I don't want to contribute to cheating.
Do you still monitor this? I have a question
I respond to the best of my ability.
what if a grade is not given, how would you find o2 cost for running on treadmill?
You would need both speed and grade to calculate O2 from these equations. Maybe you could assume a grade of zero.
how to determine grade? can you elaborate the definition of grade?

@@VivoPhys So what would the grade be if the test subject is running or walking on the flat surface? is it 0
Yes
Thanks sir for the topic
You are welcome.
This really helps!
Happy to hear it!
@@VivoPhys How can I connect with you, doctor? I couldn't find you on Instagram. Please do respond. Thanks.
Sorry. I don't have any public social media accounts other than UA-cam.
