    The old footage and music put me back 50 years and my carefree life in the late 60s growing up in the Imperial Kingdom of Iran. I loved Bobby Fischer and his primitive badassery combined with his genius and talent, a series of great American gifts to mankind in the 20th century.

    the first video is the footage of the first game between Spassky and Petrosian in WCC 1966, a Caro-Kann

      @@EliasKagan you're right it wasn't a political weapon. But the Soviets did use their dominance in chess to demonstrate the superiority of communism over other forms of polity!

    No computers or inflated ELO ratings in those days, Just pure ability and talent mixed with lots and lots of training and memorizing what they had remembered form chess book as well as analysis of each others games. After Karpov it all changed and all the grafting had been done for Kasparov and others after him.

      @@desoztopdesoz2456 watching the match would certainly be unimaginably interesting but well.....Fischer was Fischer and the match wouldn't have been half as interesting if Fischer didn't have an eccentric personality! :)

      Spassky and Fischer did play to audiences in every game with one exception, the game in the back room of the theatre building that Fischer won.

    I've NEVER understood how a Grandmaster could lose to Petrosian. He was a TERRIBLE Chessplayer. 😒

      @@ChessIN I'm a serious student of the game. Study Petrosians games with Stockfish. He was a LOUSY player. He lost a game in 9 moves. I've have NEVER lost a game in 9 moves. How do you even accomplish that? People aren't objective. I don't believe Petrosian ever won a Tournament while he was World Champion for 6 years. Come on. 🙄

      He lost game in 9 moves and u never lost a game in 9 moves . You said . 😂Well you never been a world champion like him either. Read Kasparov what he said about Petrosian . But maybe he was a lousy player as well for you.
